another piece of origami paper was picked up by a young girl in her teen years.
lee eunbin
she made use of the origami paper and folded it into a paper crane.
this was her 10th origami paper used.
well, wonder why she has a weird addiction with making at the minimum 15 paper cranes daily?
it all started when she was in elementary school..
*flashback* when she was in australia
a young boy panted as he ran his way towards a young girl.
"eunbin-ah! i apologise for being late, my mom made me do the dishes before leaving the house. my apologies for keeping you waiting.."
"jakey it's fine ! i understand. so you requested me to meet up at our local park.. is there any news that you would like to inform me?"
jake began fidgeting around. unsure whether he would want to spit out this piece of devastating news to his best friend...
"before i spit out the news, pinky pinky promise me that we'll stay as best friends or close friends forever and ever.. please?"
eunbin raised her eyebrows due to what jake has just said.
"what is this nonsense? of course! why wouldn't we stay together as best friends?"
he then sigh before continuing.
"well so you see.. my parents informed me about this and it's a piece of news that will 100% leave both of us... devastated."
"i-i mean.. it can't be that bad right? aight, just spit it out! don't wanna keep me waiting.."
"my family and i are moving back to korea due to business problems..."
eunbin was utterly speechless. her mind couldn't process the sentence that came out of jake's mouth.
"b-but... why? why can't you stay here in australia?"
she said while her voice cracked. tears were preparing to flow out of her eyes in no time.
"like i said, it's due to business purposes. eunbin-ah, trust me. in the beginning when my parents had just informed me about it, i immediately opposed and tried to persuade them to let me continue my life here in australia... but i couldn't do anything, i was forced to agree with whatever they said"
jake said while drops of tears began to flow out of his eyes.
"i'm sorry eunbin... i really am.. i'm sorry i couldn't do anything more to convince them to allow me to stay here.."
his palm was interlocking mine
a tiny smile plastered on her face as she said her following words.
"jakey-ah it's okay. don't blame yourself for something you shouldn't be sorry of. i 100% understand.."
"when are you going back to korea?"
"in 2 days..."
"alrighty, then.. let's make the most out of it in this 2 days! let's hang out with each other as much as possible so nothing is missed out on!"
"aight, let's start our adventure!"
in the 2 days, both of the young kids appreciate each other's company before one of them had to go. they smiled and laughed together the whole time. before they knew, the end was awaiting..

*time skip* after the 2 days
eunbin was standing right in front of jake's home. the house's exterior was shining gold. and plus, the architecture was absolutely stunning.
eunbin's mother drove her here. she has jake's address as jake mentioned that she's able to pay a visit if it's necessary or important.
she walked towards the entrance door and rang the doorbell hoping she'll receive a reply.
the door slight creaked open as a figure appeared.
"hi.. may i know who you are?"
said by a man looking like he's in his 30s or 40s
"hi.. i'm lee eunbin, jake's best friend from school. i heard that he's going back to korea today and i wanted to pay a visit before he leaves for the airport.."
"oh lee eunbin! come in come in, jake has mentioned about you to us dozens of times."
she took small steps as she entered the mansion.
"woah, is jake that filthy rich? he has mentioned that his family is wealthy but I would've never thought they were THIS wealthy.."
she thought to herself as she examine all the decorations displayed in the building.
"if you're wondering we're jake's room is, it's at the 2nd floor to your right. you will see a sign on the door that allows you to know that it's his room. he's currently packing to leave to the airport, but don't worry about the time. we're not leaving that soon."
the same voice spoke out as she turned her head around.
"thank you so much"
she kindly bowed as she found the stairway and started making her way towards the boy's room.

she reached her arm out and knocked on the door of jake's room. to her surprise, she received a response right on the spot.
"dad i told you- oh eunbin-ah.. what are you doing here?"
he questioned the young girl.
"hi jakey.. you informed me that you're departing from australia today and so i thought, why not pay you a visit before you leave to the airport?"
"awee that's so sweet of you, come in come in"
she made my way in his room.
she was amazed by how his room looked. in the 2 years of their friendship, she has never seen his room before. this was definitely an eye-opener.
"woah, to my surprise, your room honestly looks in fact genuinely good. i was expecting clothes on the carpet, junk food all around the table and just overall a huge mess."
"yah eunbin is that how you think of me?"
he said while he crossed his arms together.
"no no, don't take this a different route. i just mentioned that because usually most bedrooms owned by boys our age, are filthy dirty!"
"it wasn't necessary if you to explain, i already knew what you were going to say"
"yah then why did you act all grumpy with your arms crossed just now huh ⁉️"
"i was teasing you, overall it wasn't a big deal"
"yah get your butt here, i wouldn't hesitate to beat you up on the spot right now"
she said as she was challenging him into a physical play fight.
"yah yah don't take it seriously omg, i was being playful"
"okay okay, anyways.. i'm unable to talk to you for long as i'm busy so i have to make this quick... i just want to wish you all the best for your trip to korea and stay safe. always remember that i'll remain your best friend at heart pinky promise?"
she held out her pinky.
"pinky promise"
the both of them interlocked their pinkies as a smile were showed on both of their faces.
"and also, let's make another promise that we also have to continue to promise and do for the rest of our lives"
jake spoke.
"what is it?"
"let's make at the minimum 15 paper cranes daily. the paper cranes represent our friendship and that we'll always remain as best friends we each other at heart."
"ooo that sounds interesting and fun! sure! pinky promise as well"
they both interlocked their pinkies the last time.
"jakey-ah, i'm extremely sorry but i have to go now. stay safe and hope you have a nice time back to korea!"
"thank you eunbin-ah"
she walked out of her room and silently closed the door.
she leaned her backs on the door and uneasy thoughts roamed around her head.
i mean who wouldn't be devastated to hear that your absolute best friend is moving out of the country and back to his?
but to eunbin, jake wasn't just a best friend..
few months ago before she was informed that piece of heartbreaking news, she started developing feelings for jake.
she has read online that best friend to lovers relationships's outcome isn't always the best so she decided to stay silent about her feelings.
she also knew that they were both in elementary school and they had no chance in dating as they were only literal children.
tears flowed out of her eyes as she silently cried in hopes of not getting a single attention by anything inside the building.
ever since jake and eunbin made that promise, both of them have kept it extremely well. they hope that when they reunite by fate, they would receive a happy and wonderful ending together..
*end of flashback*
till this day, she remains extremely truthful and kept her promise.
on the other side, her heart remains unsure..
"did jake keep his promise or did he completely forget about me?..."
she thought to herself the very last time.
