It was a dark and stormy Halloween night in 1995. I was sitting at home watching a slasher flick, eating popcorn. All the lights off. My parents weren't home yet from doing some grocery shopping. I know what your thinking, what a wild night. My family was never big on Halloween. Not the way I was. But I didn't have many friends here just yet. So here I was, alone. I think my grandma Aggie was supposed to come visit. She usually does around this time of year. But I think she may be visiting my cousins Marnie, Dylan, and Sophie. They live in a different state now so we don't see them much. Marnie was the only person who shared my taste in weird stuff.
"Vivian! We're back!" I heard my mother call.
"I'm in here!" I call from the living room. I hear
them putting the groceries away and I get back to my movie.
Out of the corner of my eye I see a flash of light from the window. I assume it's a trick or treater's flash light. I do a double take and see a bus stop sign? That wasn't there before. I think I may be tripping. It's Halloween. Could've been some weird decoration or something.
"Oh no he's coming!" One of characters in the movie screams. They're running down a dark hallway. The music gets creepier. More screams. Then BOOM. The front door burst open.
"Happy Halloween!" My grandma Aggie yells. I nearly jump out of my skin.
"Grandma you scared me!" I say hastily, taking deep breaths.
"Hello Vivian! I've missed you!" She rushes over to give me a hug. My parents have joined us in the living room.
"Hi mom," says my dad John. He hugs my grandma.
"Hello Aggie, it's so good to see you," my mom Stacy adds, then hugs my grandma.
"Have you gone to see Gwen and the kids?" asks my dad.
"Yes! Marnie is just a few years from 13 you know. So I was trying to reason with Gwen but she wouldn't hear it," grandma shrugs.
"What's going on when Marnie is 13? I turn 13 next week," I butt in.
"Yes you do Vivian," my grandma Aggie says. Turning to my parents with a peculiar face.
"We thought about it, and you know what. I think she deserves to choose," my dad says. My mom beside him nodding.
"Choose what? I'm so confused," I reply, looking from each person in my family.
"Vivian, you're a witch," says my grandma.
"Wait, what?" My eyes nearly popping out of my head.
"It's true sweetie," my dads says, "me, your grandma, and aunt Gwen are all witches. We're from HalloweenTown."
"You told me you were from New York," I look at him confused.
"Well, they both have some pretty far out creatures, so it wasn't a total lie." He laughs.
Grandma Aggie claps her hands together and pats her huge carpet bag. "Well, what do you say Vivian? Do you want to learn how to be a witch?"
"Uh, duh! Is that even a question?" I exclaim. My whole life I've wanted something exciting to happen. This feels like a dream. And at this point I'm not totally convinced that it isn't.
"Go run and pack a bag sweetheart," my mom says smiling, "you're going to HalloweenTown with Grandma Aggie."
I take off out of my seat. I'm packed in less than 10 minutes. "Can I bring my Nokia?" I ask my dad.
"Well phones don't really work like that in HalloweenTown. If you want to call us just ask your grandma," he responds.
I put my Nokia down confused but just shrug it off. I picked my bag up and hoist it over my shoulder. "Alright Grandma I'm all set."
"Let's go!" she smiles. We give our goodbyes to my parents and head outside. Our street is pretty quiet, not many trick or treaters around anymore. I realize we're walking to the bus stop sign I saw earlier.
"We're taking the bus?" I ask. Grandma Aggie only smiles and nods.
Well this will be interesting.

AN: Heyy guys! I've loved HalloweenTown since I was a kid. So I decided to create my own story! Vivian is Marnie's cousin who is a couple years older who goes to HalloweenTown before her. The original movie premiered in 1998. For all you kids who don't know what a Nokia is, please Google it! They were pretty cool back in the day. I wasn't old enough for one, I was just a baby, but my grandma had one that I got to use when one of my phones broke back when I was in highschool. Anyway, I'm not entirely sure where this is going to go but I think it will be cool!
