Meira wasn't too excited about moving to Forks, but she was going to be closer to her father's hometown, meaning she could visit his childhood home and feel closer to her father. She could also visit his memorial site as well, since his ashes were spread in a couple different areas in Aberdeen. As she thought about her father, she absentmindedly started running her fingers over the cremation jewelry she had gotten.
She had bought the necklace and ring when she was Fourteen years old with the help of Bella's mother, Renee Dwyer. Meira's mother, Courtney Love, refused to let her have any of her father's ashes--which there was very little left after most of them were spread in Aberdeen--but Meira stole some of the ashes when she left home. She had the ashes put in the jewelry and in a special little cremation ornament that she displayed in her room at all times.
"Meira, we'll be landing soon." Bella said, pulling Meira from her thoughts.
"Do you think Charlie would allow me to go to Aberdeen next weekend?" Meira asked, and Bella shrugged.
"I don't know, you'll have to ask, but if you tell him why, he'd probably let you go." She replied, causing Meira to nod slightly.
Meira hated asking for permission to do things. When she lived with her mother, she could do almost whatever she wanted, since her mother didn't really want anything to do with her and just wanted the girl out of her hair. Meira missed her sister, Bean, quite a bit, but she'd never go back to her mother's even if she was dying.
Anyhow, once the plane landed and the girls were able to leave, they walked out into the airport to find Charlie. Bella spotted Charlie after a moment, before she grabbed her friend's arm and pulled her forward. Charlie helped the girls get their bags and load them into his car, before he began to drive them home.
"This isn't the first time I've been in the back of one of these." Meira commented, as she chuckled slightly to herself.
Bella and Charlie tried to ignore what she had said, since they were worried it might make things more awkward.
"You're hair's gotten longer." Charlie said, breaking the awkward silence between him and his daughter.
"I've cut it since the last time I seen you." Bella replied, causing Meira to sigh quietly.
"I guess it's grown out again." Charlie commented, before the awkwardness came back.
Meira hated awkward silence, but she wasn't going to try and fix the awkwardness either. Bella and Charlie were always awkward people, so she figured she'd just make it worse if she pointed it out. Soon they arrived at the Swan home, causing Meira to sigh in relief.
"I've made the attic into a room for you. A couple of the boys from the reservation came and made a bathroom in there and worked to make your room appealing." Charlie said, as he helped the girl carry her bags up the stairs.
"Thank you, Charlie." She replied, and he smiled and nodded back.
Bella's room had been changed as well, since she wasn't a little kid anymore and she needed a new room. She and Charlie had to share a bathroom, but Charlie figured Meira would find sharing with him and Bella to be awkward, so he had her own bathroom created. Bella understood why her father had given the girl her own bathroom, so she didn't get jealous over it. Normally girls would get jealous over things like that, but Bella really didn't since she stayed to herself mostly, which meant she stayed in her room and wasn't too worried about her appearance, so she didn't need her own bathroom to get ready for the day everyday.
"Your room is kind of dark, Meira." Bella said, and Meira nodded.
"Yeah, but I like it this way. I can practice my guitar and write songs while having a soft set lighting." Meira replied, as she grabbed her guitar from its case and put it on its stand.
"I hope your walls are soundproof, since you're up at late hours of the night. We wouldn't want Charlie hearing you being up late on a school night." Bella commented, and Meira shrugged.
"I'll figure out a way to keep him from hearing me." She replied, and Bella snorted in amusement.
Bella and Meira were called downstairs soon after, so they could greet Billy and Jacob Black. Charlie had gotten Bella a truck, after Meira had promised she was getting her own car later in the day.
"Meira, this is Billy Black and his son Jacob." Charlie said, as he motioned towards the two guys in the driveway.
"Nice to meet you. I'm Meira Kurt Cobain." Meira commented, as she waved at the two russet skinned males.
Meira had always introduced herself with her whole name, even though every time she said her father's name, it caused her heart to break just a little.
"Cobain? Like the singer?" Jacob asked, causing the girl to smile.
"Yeah, he was my dad." She replied, causing him and his father to send sympathetic smiles her way.
"Why are you living with Bella though, I mean, not to pry or anything, but--" Jacob began, but Meira cut him off with a slight shake of her head.
"It's fine. My mom and I got into a huge fight over my dad when I was thirteen, so she sent me to live with Bella. Bella's been my best friend since I was little, so Mom figured the best way to get rid of me was to send me to Bella's. She didn't want me around my dad's sister, since his sister and I both didn't like my mom." Meira said, laughing slightly to lighten the mood.
Jacob offered to show Bella how to work her truck, so that they could bring Meira to buy a car. Once she knew how to start it and get it going, she, Jacob, and Meira drove down to the car lot to pick up a car. Meira chose a red candy painted '97 Ford Mustang, that Jacob checked out to make sure everything was working perfectly on before she bought it. Meira didn't have a lot of money, but she had saved up quite a bit to get a car. She was almost excited to show off her new car the next day when she and Bella started school...
