The day was cold as the snow threatened to blow within the windows of a grand castle. Maids and knights making sure fireplaces were lit and windows shut tight. Though it wasn't enough to keep warm without a blanket or warm clothes. Within the rooms in the royal home was workers wrapped in blankets near fireplaces to keep warm from this terrible blizzard that hit the mountains of the land, the fires being one of the only things helping then survive.
Though in one room was the king and his children. The king was of course a empire, and a tall one at that. He sat down within his study with them on a couch of sorts near the fireplace as his wings went around his children. The son balled and bundled up as a small tail lashed a bit in annoyance of the cold. Whilst the daughter was wrapped in her own wings as well with a blanket. She sneezed a bit as the cold had gotten to her a bit causing her to sneeze and such. The father of the two sighed as he tried keeping his children warm, hoping they were to be okay. Though he was shocked as a guard burst into the room in a panic, their breath heaving with the run they had taken. "My king! The crystal has cracked-! If we don't fix it soon the rifts may open!!" Said the guard as they leaned on the doorframe.
The Empires face filled with worry as he heard the news and looked down at his children as he got up, telling them to stay near the fire to keep warm. The empire was tall to say the least, towering over the guard and his children. Not to mind that now, for the Empire ran out the room and followed a still exhausted guard to the outside of the castle. The harsh winds bit at his skin as the ice and snow started to numb him. He quickly covered himself as he ran to the crystal with the guard, going through tunnels and up stairs to reach their destination. A face of fear was upon the face of the empire as he saw a crack upon the crystal embedded in the earth, the light fading from it. "We've overused it...it's been eons since we turned this off...we'll.need.to find a replacement..and quick!" The empire knelt down to the crystal and out a hand to it's icy cold surface as he spoke. "We'll have to talk to the other lands for a while...but after that we have to turn the new crystal on." The guard nodded as the empire spoke, "right away my king, though are you sure the other lands are safe..? What if they attack the land? Or take then children and food?" The guard said, filled with worry. The empire sighed as the guard worried and knelt down to them to put a hand on their shoulder and spoke up , "listen...i know you're worried...but we can find ways to get ourselves out of situations like like." He said with a soft voice, only to be disrupted once more by a fisherman. "My king-! A boat was seen in the shore their land is no familiar to any of us!"
When the empire heard those words he was scared a bit to say the least...they had no time to prepare-! Well, the least they can do is greet them. "Show me them...Maybe we can make peace with these new lands in order to not have any wars..." The man nodded and led the other two to the docks were a small group of sailers were being tended to due to their ship being waterboarded. They were given food and blankets, mumbling and muttering things as they barely escaped death. Though their eyes became as wide as dinner plates as they saw the empire approach them, a country? They had no idea whom he was but they were sure intrigued. One man, the captain, asked where they were and who he was. A jersey accent lacing his tone. "Well my friends, i am Angic Empire, and this is my land you're standing on."
The captain was shocked to say the least, they haven't heard of such a land! But the flag upon the empires face did not lie. He in fact was a country, a country who would choose peace over violence. "No such thing! What land are we in? The americas still? France? Britain?" However the large empire seemed a bit, well, curious of the names of other countries. Well he'll have to ask about them later. "I'm sorry, but it is no lie. Do you need some proof that this land is not of any you know..?" Angic Empire asked the captain. In which they scoffed and spoke up, "sure. Probably seen it before." Said the captain.
He nodded and looked towards the group of people looking and tending to the crew. "You heard them. Just please start off small." He said, a few people in the crowd nodding and walking forward as the empire backed away. Nothing much happened at first as they crew and their captain starred at the small group of people. Then a spark, no...a flame burst from thin air upon one persons hand. The crew gasped in alarm at the sudden fire given to the person. Some mumbling to each other as another started to make thin yet beautifully shaped diamonds fade into reality and float above them. As more of this magical experience continued angic chuckled a bit at their faces, "Believe me now?" Said the Empire.
It was truly a incredible sight bestowed upon the crew of sailers. Though the captain was not such as pleased... "So yer witches? Believers of the devil?" Said the captain. Angic was a bit confused at the bringing up of the devil, not being fond with the workings of Christianity. "I'm very sorry sir, but i have not a clue what or who this devil is. If they're a god my peoples religions and gods have not heard of such a name." Angic explained. A tinge of annoyance hit the captains face as Angic explained. "Blah blah excuses! That's exactly something a worshipper of the devil would say!" Yelled the captain, walking closer and closer to the empire. Even though he looked like a child compared to the man. "I'll teach you a lesson to not follow that damned creature!" Suddenly the captain yanked out a pocket knife, trying to hit the empire before suddenly being hit by a member of the crew. The boy seemed in his late teens, dirty blonde curls under his hat as hazel eyes looked down upon their unconscious captain. "I am soo sorry sir! Our captain can be a firm believer in his religio-" but the boy was cut off by the empire, "it's alright, sometimes people can't control their own rage...though with how hard you hit him he shouldn't remember this much... After you're well fed we'll send you off to your land, you probably have loved ones worried for you.
So, after the crew was warmed, well fed, and the ship fixed they sent the crew off. Giving them foods for the travel and a few blessings to return safely to their home. It wasn't until a few weeks later the ship came back saying that the countries wished to meet Angic Empire in person.
That's how it started. How the lands found each other and the monsters started to show themselves for who they truly were.
