Suicide and depression
Lizzie's pov
I was going home today to see my parents, I haven't seen them in so long since we have been filming alot and with being engaged to Robbie. I walked inside my mums hand in hand with Robbie to be instantly hugged by my mum.
"Hi Lizzie, it's so good to have you home. I've missed you." She said with a wide smile. "Hi Robbie." She greeted Robbie before looking back to me. "Y/Ns here. She's been back for a few months."
"What?" I asked her with widened eyes remembering how we left things.
"Yeah she's in the kitchen with the twins catching up." She said with a wide smile. It's going to be hard since I was the one who broke her heart before she left to go on her first tour. "Come on you should say hi." She said as she dragged me into the kitchen. When our eyes met I noticed how empty her eyes were. Like there was no emotion behind her smile that she sent my way.
"Hi Liz, it's been too long." She said as she pulled me in for a small hug.
"Hi Y/N, you look good." I said with a soft smile as Robbie cleared his throat next to me. "Oh yeah, this is Robbie." I said as I motioned towards him.
"Hi I'm her fiancé, Robbie." He said as he held out his hand for her to shake which she hesitated
"It's nice to meet you Robbie. I'm Y/N." She said as she shook his hand quickly. I watched as she made her way outside in the yard.
"Shes weird." Robbie said as we all looked at him. "What?"
"She's not weird." I told him sternly.
"She's just been through a lot this last year." My mum said as I looked at her in shock not knowing anything.
"Well she's still weird." He scoffed as my mum and sisters just glared at him before he walked into the living room.
"I really don't like him." Ashley said as her eyes followed him in disgust.
"Yeah you deserve better." MK said as she hugged me.
"I always thought that you and Y/N would've been married by now." My mum said earning a scoff from me.
"Really, we ended it years ago. I've moved on." I said as I ran my hand through my hair.
"Yeah with jesus 2.0 in there." Ashley said with a smirk making MK laugh while I glared at the two of them.
"Hey, he is actually a nice guy if you give him a chance." I told them both sternly.
"Well I'm sorry sis, but I just dont think he's right for you." Ashley said softly.
"Well anyway, what did you mean before mum?" I asked my mum.
"It's not really my place to say." She said as she looked away.
"How bad was it mum?" I asked her as I saw her eyes start to gloss over.
"It was the worst I've seen her go through." She said as she looked through the kitchen window. We saw her stood at the edge of the pool having a cigarette.
"Did she get through it?" I asked her hopefully.
"No, I know that shes still hurting alot. She saw a lot of horror on her last tour and she looks like she has no emotions now. She's so closed off." She told me as I felt a tear fall down my cheeks.
"Hey, Elizabeth what's this?" Robbie asked as he stormed into the kitchen. My eyes widened at what he had in his hand.
"I can explain." I said quietly as I looked at the photo in his hand.
"You better, because I want to know why there is a picture of you and the weirdo eating each others faces of at prom." He shouted at me as he waved the picture in my face.
"Hey, I think you should step back from her." My mum told him with a slight raised voice.
"NO I WANT TO KNOW." He shouted as he got completely in my face. It took us by surprise when he found himself on the floor.
"Don't you dare get in her face like that again." Y/N said as she knelt down in front of him.
"You stay out of my business." He said as he started to stand up.
"It becomes my business when you start raising your voice and getting in her face like that. You made her uncomfortable and she doesn't deserve that." She told him through gritted teeth as we all just watched him shrink in size.
"Then why are you here?" He asked her.
"I'm here because Mama j took me in when my dad kicked me out. She didn't judge me by my past, instead she helped me become the best of me. She wanted nothing but the best for me and treated me like her own kid. So why don't you show them some respect and apologise for being a dick, and for getting in Lizzie's face like that." She said as she stood up straight holding her hand out to help him up. Why does she still have to be so perfect. I watched as she walked back outside as Robbie straightened out his clothes.
"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have reacted like that." He said with a sad look as he apologised. He gave me a quick kiss on the cheek before he went back into the living room. When I turned around to face my mum she had a look that I don't quite know.
"You ok mum?" I asked her softly.
"Yes. I'm gonna go and check on Y/N." She said she walked out leaving me with my sisters.
"He doesn't deserve you Lizzie." MK said sincerely.
"I agree, you deserve so much better." Ashley agreed with her
"And let me guess, Y/N is what I deserve. I should be with her instead." I said as I rested my hands on my hips.
"No you shouldn't." We heard behind me. I watched as the twins eyes went wide like mine. I didn't want to turn around but I couldn't stop myself. I stared into this eyes that I fell in love with in high school. "I'm not worth it." She said before giving my mum one last hug and walked out the front door
"Well done girls. She's already not doing good, and you've probably made it worse." My mum huffed out as she walked out of the kitchen.
"You don't think she'll you know." MK asked Ashley while I stood there confused.
"I'm not sure. She doesn't seem as good as she used to be." Ashley said as they were having their own conversation forgetting that I'm even in the same room.
"So you think it's possible?" MK asked her with worry in her eyes as Ashley just nodded
"What are you two talking about?" I asked them both, frustrated by their secrecy.
"Well, it's just that since she has been medically discharged, she's been drinking more. She won't exactly talk about what happened over there." Ashley told me.
"So you think she might be suicidal?" I asked with tears in my eyes while they both nodded. "I've got to go and see her."
"You don't know where she lives." They said in unison.
"I'll ask mum." I told them as I left the room. My mum was reluctant to tell me her address but she still gave it to me. As I grabbed my keys and made my way outside, Robbie grabbed my wrist.
"Where are you going?" He asked me with a glare.
"Im going to see Y/N. Make sure that she's OK." I told him honestly.
"I don't want you seeing her." He told me angrily.
"She's my friend and you don't get a say in who I'm friends with." I said back raising my voice slightly.
"No she's you're ex." He spat at me.
"No she's family. She has been ever since she became my best friend in freshman year." I shouted at him as I pulled my arm out of his grasp as I walked through the door and saw my mum and sisters with proud smiles on their faces. I ran to the car and sped to her apartment. When I walked up to her door I kept knocking and I was getting no answer. I remember seeing her car parked up so i know she's here. So I quickly ran to the stairs to the roof. As soon as I got through the door, I saw her sat on the ledge.
"Please don't do anything stupid Y/N." I asked her as I made my way forward slowly.
"What's so stupid about it?" She asked me with no emotion.
"That you will hurt the ones who love you." I told her I watched as she stood up.
"And who is that exactly. Other than your mum and the twins." She asked me with her voice broken. "I have no one. NO ONE." She said as I watched her with tears in my eyes.
"YOU HAVE ME." I shouted at her with my voice cracking. "You have me. You've always had me."
"No, I lost you the moment you broke my heart. The truth is you always had my heart but I never really had yours." She said which broke me.
"No, I was scared. I didn't want to lose you or stop you from following your dream of joining the military. So I done the one thing I regret. I regret losing you and i hate myself for breaking your heart." I said as I took another step towards her.
"No, don't try and give me hope. I don't deserve it." She said barely above a whisper.
"Why don't you deserve it?" I asked her trying to get her down.
"BECAUSE IT SHOUDVE BEEN ME. I SHOULD'VE BEEN KILLED NOT DANIEL." She shouted as she started to breakdown. "I WAS SUPPOSED TO BE DRIVING THAT DAY BUT I ASKED HIM TO SWAP WITH ME."
I quickly ran over to her and grabbed her hand and pulled her into me. She gripped onto my shirt tight, afraid that I would disappear.
"It's OK, I'm here now." I whispered softly in her ear.
"What about Robbie?" She asked me and I realised that I left him with my family who don't like him.
"It doesn't matter right now. I'm going to help you OK. But you have to let me help you." I told her as she just looked in my eyes.
"Ok." She said quietly. We both stood up and we went inside her apartment. I made us both some coffee before sitting down next to her.
"You will get through this OK." I told her reassuringly.
"How?" She asked, she sounded and looked defeated.
"I'm here and I'm not going anywhere." I told her as I pulled her in for a tight hug.
