While Cake was getting his bath for his nap, Mater took Lightning somewhere for their best friend hangout
"Er... Mater?" Lightning asks nervously at Mater
"Just remember, your brakes ain't going to work on these!" Mater says to Lightning as he pushes him through the train track.
"Hi, Mommy!" Cake says to Lightning as Doc takes him away to get a bath.
"Hi, Cake!" Mater says even though he was talking to Lightning and not him.
"Wait, did you just said Cake?" Lightning asks as he slides down into the train track with Mater
"Yeah, he just passed by with Doc" Mater answers as they enter the train station
"Mater!" Lightning yelps out as they enter the train station
"Relax. These train tracks ain't been used in years!" Mater shouts as they enter the train station
Suddenly there was a sound of a train coming
"Aaaah! Aaaah!" Lightning and Mater screams for their lives, well Lightning was, Mater was screaming because he was having fun.
"Faster, faster. Come on." Lightning says to Mater as they try to get out of the train station
"Here we go!" Mater says back to Lightning, as they get out of the train station
"Faster!" Lightning shouts at Mater as they left the train station
It turns out that it's just a old car that looks exactly like Lizzie but wearing a old train outfit.
Lightning and Mater were now out in the field in front of a bulldozer.
"Ooh. Wow. Yeah, I don't know. Do you think?" Lightning asks Mater as they are behind the bulldozer
"This is going to be good!" Mater says as he and Lightning begins to make a sound, even though it might wake up Cake from afar.
The bulldozer then went behind and tipped over, Lightning and Mater quickly backs away to not get crushed by it.
Mater and Lightning then begins laughing at it.
"Did you see that?" Lightning asks Mater as he was laughing his tail off.
They stopped laughing as they see that they are at the bulldozer's hole spot.
"Uh oh. This ain't going to be good." Mater says as the bulldozer did his thing and it blew Lightning and Mater back.
Lightning and Mater then hear Cake's crying from afar
"Uh oh" Lightning and Mater say together, knowing that they are in BIG trouble once they are home.
"LIGHTNING BLAZE MCQUEEN!" Doc shouts from afar, angry that Lightning had woken up Cake who he had just put to sleep for his nap time.
"DRIVE!" Lightning and Mater shouts together as they drive for their lives.
"Ha-ha! Boy, this was the best day ever! Well minus us getting chase by Doc throughout the whole day. And my favorite souvenir, this new dent." Mater says as the sun sets with a very dirty red racecar following him.
"Boy, Mater, today was ah..." Lightning said as he looks around for his son, Cake he's been looking forward to taking care of him himself ever since he was born but Doc had always insisted that he is in need of help (which is true he does need help because he's a single mom now)
"Shoot, that was nothing. Wait till you see what I got planned for tonight!" Mater says as he drove ahead while having his balloon on his tow cable
"Mater, Mater, whoa! I was thinking of just a quiet dinner." Lightning says as he looks around for Doc since he is still looking for him and Mater
"That's exactly what I was thinking." Mater says, thinking that Lightning meant both of them eating dinner together
"No, I meant with Kevin, Mater." Lightning says, trying to correct Mater
"Even better! You, me and Cake going out for supper, Cake's nap time must be over by now." Mater says as he went forward ahead than Lightning
"Mater, I meant it would be just me and Cake." Lightning said to Mater
"Oh." Mater said in realization, seemingly disappointed that he wasn't coming
"You know, just for tonight." Lightning said to Mater, trying to cheer him up
"Oh." Mater said, even more disappointed.
"You know that I've been wanting to spend time with my baby ever since I first saw him." Lightning told Mater gently as he remembers the day that he gave birth to little Cake.
"Yeah I remember the day that Cake was born, you tried to hide it from us because you were worried about you." Mater says, as he remembers that Lightning tried to give birth at his cone but couldn't because Doc had to get him out of there.
"Well, see you tomorrow Mater" Lightning said as he begins to drive away to Doc's clinic to pick up his son.
Lightning arrives at Doc's clinic, he quietly went in so to not wake up Cake from his nap
Lightning went to Cake's room, he went to Cake's crib expecting to see his son there but he wasn't.
"Where is he?" Lightning asks himself looking around the clinic for his son, when he doesn't see his son at the clinic he went to Doc's garage (the same one where he first discovered that Doc was the Fabulous Hudson Hornet) and sees nothing but the same thing that he first saw when he went in there
"Where's Cake?" Lightning asks himself as he looks around in the garage looking for his son, Cake.
He then sees a baby rattle, Lightning chuckle to himself remembering the day that Cake said his first word which actually hurts him too.
"G- G- G- Grandpa!" Cake, 1 year old said to Doc, which shocked everyone
"Did he just said his first word?!" Sally asks excitedly at Doc
"Yeah, he did." Doc confirms, happy for his grandson
Everyone cheers for Cake, everyone except Lightning who feels hurt and heartbroken since he wasn't there for Cake all the time.
Lightning sighs in disappointment, looking sadly at the baby rattle that Cake used to play with a long time ago.
"For you're information, rookie" Doc says as he appears in the doorway in the garage, blocking Lightning's way out.
Lightning jumped because he got scared, he wasn't expecting Doc to be there at all.
"Kid ain't here, he's at Sheriff's" Doc told Lightning, with a anger expression
"Oh, well that's good to know" Lightning says as he prepares to leave but Doc wasn't moving
"Where do you think you're going?" Doc asks Lightning, still not moving
"To pick up my son from the Sheriff" Lightning says as he tries to get by Doc
"No you are not, I'm not letting you touch you're son looking dirty, I just bathe him I'm not letting you get him dirty again" Doc says as he finally moves out of the way
"So what are you going to do about it? Give me a bath" Lightning jokingly asks Doc as he begins to laugh at his joke
Doc just smirks at him
"Uh oh." Lightning says as he realizes his mistake.
