Panting, you emerged in the clearing where the Owl House sat.

Luz was outside talking to King and Eda, and they immediately spotted you.

You let your mask fall away and disappear.

"Hey!" you greeted, slowing to a stroll.

"Hi y/n! Gosh, you look even more tired than usual!" Luz replied.

"Y-you too- late night?" you asked casually.

"Uh huh, don't tell anyone- but I was saving the Palismen! The Golden Guard was trying to steal them, but it got complicated. Kikimora, this jerk, made us crash. So then, me, the Golden Guard- WHO'S NAME IS HUNTER!!- and like his deckhand, went and got them back!" she rushed.

"Hunter? Did you get to see his face?" you mused.

"Yeah! He's our age actually. Just a sad but bad boy- if you ask me." she smiled.

"Um, yeah..." you sighed.

"C'mon, lets get something to eat in the kitchen! I NEED to show you my comics!" she cheered, grabbing your wrist and pulling you inside.

You sat at their kitchen table, munching on a strange cookie, leading through a comic about a witch.

"Soooooo? Like what you read?" Luz quizzed, crumbs falling from her mouth.

"Yes! I knew humans were cool." you giggled.

"Well, duh! I mean, you're still not telling me what's the story with your ears!!" she sniggered.

"Already said! It's not just humans that have rounded ears!" you said, tapping your ears.

"Hmm, if you say so."

You sat and talked to Luz for about an hour, before she insisted you went into Bonesbrough.

You trudged alongside her, the town growing around you.

"I liked his second-in-command. It's weird, she works for Belos, but I don't think she really cares. I mean, she helped me escape!" Luz was saying.

"Yeh? She sounds nice."

"Agh, but the Golden Guard's voice- unbearable." Luz complained.

You frowned.

"I love his voi-" you started.

Oh shit.

"Um, what? You love his voice? Y/N!!! Do you have a CRUUUSSSHH on the Golden Guard???" Luz squealed.

"What? Hell no! I didn't mean to say that! And besides, I don't even know what the brat looks like!" you said, hiding your blush.

"If you say so...!" Luz giggled.

You milled about the stalls.

It was strange, really strange, with no mask on.

Everyone could see your eyes, and your ears.

You supposed the eyes cancelled out the idea of you being human, but not fully.

You heard some of their whispers.

Luz turned to look at you and squinted, as if examining you.

"Maybe, you could show your wings? They're sooo pretty." she prompted.

You gulped.

"If something bad happens as a result, I pin the blame on you." you said.

You clicked your fingers and the cloak disappeared into nothing, revealing your wings.

Gasps.

Not of shock or horror, but rather of amusement and intrigue.

"Wonder what monstrosity they are if they ain't human." you heard someone matter.

"SHE HAPPENS TO BE A VERY COOL MONSTROSITY MISTER!!" Luz bellowed, staring down the small frog-like man who had said it.

You put a hand on her shoulder.

She looked round at you unsurely.

You simply shrugged, and she sighed, laying off on the verbal assault.

You stretched your wings, they were pretty much healed to your satisfaction.

"Why don't you fly a bit?" Luz suggested.

"Nah, I hurt my wings a while ago, I don't want to open the wound again." you sighed.

"Guds skyld" you groaned as you received yet another stare.

"What does that mean?" she asked.

"Um, it translates to gods' sake." you replied.

You stole some buns from a stall, and handed one to Luz.

She stared at you, wide eyed.

"How did they not see you?" she whispered.

"Quick hands." you grinned, biting into the sweet pastry.

The day, minus the traumatic encounter with the altar, was a success.

You and Luz had found Gus and Willow, and you had had a grand time just messing about.

You found out about Luz's crush- too- a girl called Amity, who you had recalled seeing once somewhere.

You, being no love expert, had given her the best advice you could think of.

"If you like her, and you think she likes you- go for it! Ask her out- if she says no, make out like you didn't care. If it hits you hard- Gus looks like he'd be a good therapist."

They had laughed at the last part.

You walked up to the castle, following the perimeter wall round until you spotted Hunter's room.

You took a deep breath, and took a run.

You wings, that could span to be about the length of you on either side, spread out.

They flapped gracefully, propelling you through the air strong and true.

You smiled with delight, what an exhilarating feeling!

You flew towards his window, crashing into it slightly as you landed on the small ledge.

Banging wildly on the window, you peered into the gloom.

You almost plummeted as he threw it open.

"W-what?" he gasped, looking at you up and down.

"My wings are working!" you grinned.

You swung yourself into his room, plonking yourself on his bed.

"How'd Belos react?" you said.

He spun around, his face slightly pained.

"H-he doesn't want me to go on any missions until further notice." he sighed.

"That must suck."

"Yes. So I'm trying to find a way to redeem myself." he nodded, his eyes flashing with determination.

"I think he overworks you. Either that or you do it to yourself." you said, inspecting the woodwork on his bedframe.

"No, no. It's all ok." he mumbled.

You stood up and walked over to him.

You narrowed your eyes. "You afraid of heights?"

"No, why-?"

You grabbed his hands, and tossed him feet first out the window.

Casually, you flung yourself out after him.

You glided down next to him.

He was screaming like hell.

You rolled you eyes, and wrapped your arms round his waist before the two of you hit the ground.

You swooped around and into the sky.

His eyes wide with fear, he firmly wrapped his legs round your body, his arms securely locked around your neck.

"T-that wasn't cool." he stuttered.

You just cried out in joy, soaring left and right, doing loop de loops in the sky.

You grinned as the wind whipped at your hair.

Hunter pulled his body closer to you as you ascended to the heavens.

You blushed.

"Oh- I didn't mean to- I'm sorry!" he exclaimed, blushing redder.

"It's completely ok. But you gotta see this view." you smiled.

He turned his head cautiously, and almost let go of you as he saw the height you were at.

The whole of the Boiling Isles lay beneath you.

"Wow-" he gasped.

"I hope you're not to frightened to kiss me." you said.

He looked at you, still blushing.

"No...just don't stop flying." he whispered.

Bringing his face to yours, he delicately kissed you.

After a bit, you just let your wings stop.

You plummeted, and Hunter began to suffocate you with his arms around your neck so tight.

Just as you were about fall into the trees, you spread your wings again and began a steady glide over them.

"Ohhhh fuck you." he shook his head.

You smirked. "I guess you kissed me to much."

He sighed, smiling.

You flew straight through the window, where you crashed onto his bed.

He peeled himself from you, shaking slightly.

His hair was windswept and his cheeks were pink with the wind and blushing.

"Never again." he mumbled.

"You didn't enjoy that?" you laughed.

"WE COULD'VE DIED LIKE TEN TIMES!" he exclaimed.

"No! I'm amazing at flying. I didn't do anything I wasn't 100% sure we'd survive!" you replied.

Realising he was too weak to walk, he flumped back onto the bed.

You fell back so you were next to him.

"Titan's blood. That's what Belos needs, so he can open the portal." he sighed.

"Hasn't he sent Kikimora to look for it?" you replied.

He frowned. "Yes. But we're going to get it first."

"We?"

"Um, yeah. I was hoping you'd maybe come with me to the caves? I would be in less danger." he said.

"When?" you mumbled.

"A few days, they haven't began their mining yet, so I'm giving them more time so we have less to do .I also need to figure out exactly where we're going." Hunter explained.

You sat up.

"Got it."

He pushed himself up next you.

"I,I uh, I really am sorry, about everything I said last night." he apologised.

You looked over at him.

"It's all ok." you assured.

You gave him a side hug, and kissed him on the cheek.

"I best be off. SLEEP, ok? You're a mortal, it affects your performance." you insisted.

He nodded.

You smiled with satisfaction, and let yourself fall out the window.

Rather than flying the whole way home, you just portalled instead.

After gaining so much altitude earlier, your wings were exhausted.

You sighed, and collapsed onto the chaise longue, clicking your fingers to start Mellohi.
