Here I was.
Standing outside the trashy trailer I pretended to call my home.
The window in the door, that has been broken for ages, repaired with a piece of wood.
All the flowers I had planted around the small square meters last summer, now dead.
Not a single sight of something pretty.

On our postbox were our names written on paper that hadn't been renewed for years.
My mother's name had been torn over by my father after she passed.
He never ever talked about her since.
He just pretended like she never even existed.

When she was still here, they never really communicated with each other.
They were that kind of couple who would be happier if they weren't together, but didn't have the balls to end it.
The only thing their relationship contained was, sex, cheating, fighting and drugs.

Pretty toxic if you ask me.

Abigail and I knew from a very early age, that our parents wasn't going to protect us, so we quickly learned that we had to protect each other from anything bad.

The thing is that Abigail isn't going to protect me forever.
She's not able to, and I don't blame her.
She's an adult and she's gonna move out as fast as she can, and then I'm gonna be left by my own.

I cracked my fingers one by one, tripping on my bare feet.
The ground underneath me was burning hot, from the sun.
The curtains were down, so I wasn't able to see if my dad was home. I was just praying that he wasn't.

I took a deep breath, filling my lungs with the warm and probably not so fresh air, before i breathed out, and slowly turned the doorknob.

A wave of smoke entered my nostrils immediately, making me aware that my dad definitely was home.
I looked slowly towards the sofa, where I could imagine him sleeping.
And of course I was right.
There he was, sleeping on his stomach, with his right hand fallen to the dirty floor.

On the table next to him, was empty bear bottles standing, and smoked cigarettes in the ashtray I made for him when I was seven.

He was buried in the sofa with his eyes shut.
He looked sweaty and dirty. Like he hadn't showered in weeks.

His beard had grown longer than usual, and I'm pretty sure that he had been wearing that same shirt, for at least five days.

Suddenly something caught my eyes in the doorframe, to my left.
Abigail.
She had tears in her widened eyes, as she held her hands over her mouth, like she had seen a ghost.

She was wearing her gray joggers, and a tight black shirt.
Her hair was wrapped up in a high bun, and she had taken all of her jewelry off.
Her eyes immediately drifted over to the couch where our sleeping father was laying, and then over to me again.

Her eyes then scanned me up and down, with a worried look in them, before she waved me towards her room, without a single word.

I followed her slow and quietly, not wanting to wake up my dad.
My feet slid across the old dark floor, and into her room.

She closed the door behind me, and sat down on her bed, petting the fabric next to her.
I did as she wanted me to, and placed myself next to her, feeling the mattress, sink as I sat.

"Where the hell have you been?!" She whisper yelled at me, wrapping her arms around me, before I could even manage to say anything.

She held onto me for a little longer then usual, her head resting on my shoulder.

She pulled away again, looking a little more relieved than before.

She raised her brows at me, waiting for an explanation.
I cleared my throat awkwardly and hesitated on what I was going to say for a while, making me sound a hundred times more like I was lying.

"I was with some of my friends yesterday, and it got pretty late, so I just stayed at Emma's house, and then my phone died so I couldn't text you, and I drank a little too much, and I'm so so so sorry, but I promise that'll never ever happen again, I prooomi-" I spat out, but I didn't even manage to finish before she interrupted me.

"Okay okay! I get it" she said overwhelmed with my very untrue story.

"Just- just call me next time you're not coming home okay?" She mumbled looking me dead in the eye, with her pinkie close to my face.

My eyes darted between hers, seeing how she really meant what she was telling me.

A smile formed my lips, before I connected my pinky with hers.

"I promise Abs" Her eyes were slightly glistening, making my stomach hurt.

"Oh stop that right now!" I said in a baby voice, before I moved closer to her, and wrapped my arms around her neck.
Her heartbeat was beating steadily with mine, making my body relax a little.

I brushed my fingers through her long hair as she also relaxed in my arms.

"I love you so much" she whispered in my ear, making my body tense.

I pulled away slowly with a slight smile covering my face, seeing how her face lit up when she realized I was smiling.

"I love you too"

Yea so this chapter was pretty short, but I just wanted you to kind of see what Rosalina's life was like, behind closed doors.

See u very soon!
