Sorry for any mistakes!  I wanted to update but I didn't want to proof read:)

Harry's POV

"Ms. Lane?" I asked, peeping through the bedroom door when things had gone quite.  I didn't know exactly what had happened, but I had heard Liam's voice yelling Louis' name, and then sirens a few minutes later.  I could only assume that the noise I had heard before was Lou getting hurt, and as much as I wish I could have helped, I knew that doing so wouldn't end well.

"Out here, sweetie," Ms. Lane answered me.  I slowly walked out, Tony still in my arms, and saw her standing by the window, peering the curtains and still holding the baseball bat.  "It's all clear out there now, you should head out while you still can."  She continued, not meeting my eyes.

"What happened?" I asked, honestly curious.

"I took care of it," she stated simply, closing the curtain and walking towards me, placing a hand on my arm, "But you really need to go." She started pushing me towards the door, but followed me into my own apartment next door.  I was still slightly in shock from having my best friends chase after me, so Ms. Lane started packing things up for Tony and I.

"You hurt him," It wasn't a question, but it sounded like one.  She answered me without even looking away from the bag she was filling with baby clothes.

                "Yes," she answered simply.

"Did you...kill him?" I choked the last few words out, closing my eyes tight trying not to cry.  I'm not sure I wanted to know the answer, but she answered me anyways.

"Maybe.  I don't think I hit him quite that hard."  Ms. Lane said, shrugging at the end like it meant nothing.  That made me furious.

"How can you care so little about possibly taking someone's life?!" I practically yelled in her face, but it didn't scare her a bit.

"A woman has to do what she has to do.  How do you think I became a widow?" she held a completely straight face, waiting for her words to sink in.  She had killed her own husband.  That's why she could be so unremorseful about this entire situation, but she didn't know how much that boy meant to me.  By the time I had snapped out of it, she had packed everything Tony and I would need to head out and find a new place to live immediately, but I was still standing in the middle of the room.

"Harry, it's time to go," Ms. Lane said.  I nodded and started walking towards the door, but only made it two steps before what she said clicked in my head.

"Did you just... call me Harry?" I asked, completely flabbergasted.  She cracked a smile and nodded.

"I did.  I knew who you were the entire time."  she responded.  I knew what I wanted to ask, but I couldn't get the words out of my mouth.  She sensed this and answered my unspoken words; kind of.  "I can't tell you how or why, or any details really, but I was here to keep an eye on you.  That's all you need to know.  Now go, you're running out of time."

My mouth was probably still hanging out of my mouth when she slung a bag on each of my shoulders and once again pushed me out of the room.  I couldn't dwell on this any longer, so I shook it off, turned, and ran for the stairs, making it down in record time.  Pulling up my hood and hugging Tony close, I slow to an average looking pace and make my way to the train station, prepared to buy a ticket to the next train out of here, no matter where it goes.

Taking advantage of the alleyways and shadows covering this smaller town, I had finally made it to the final stretch to the station.  I was finally able to allow myself the smallest sigh of relief, but it was short lived when one of the bags on my shoulder was harshly pulled, taking me with it.  I landed on my back, knocking all the air out of my lungs, making me unable to fight back as I was being dragged farther into the darkness of a particularly unfamiliar dead ended road between two high fences.

It was still morning time, maybe ten o'clock, but the darkness caused by a tall building's shadow provided enough cover in the closed in space to make it seem like it was midnight.  After being dragged halfway down, I had recovered enough to look around and size up my attacker.

"Payson?" I said, shock clear in my voice.  I shouldn't have said that.  It only confirmed the fact that it was really me.

"Harry!!" she squealed, throwing herself at me, squishing poor Tony in the process. "Baby, I never thought I'd see you again! " This girl was clearly delusional.  I was supposed to be dead to her, and you'd think disappearing and leaving her behind meant we broke up.

"I need to leave," I said, pushing her off of me and walking away.

"Oh no you don't," she said with a harsh voice, but that wasn't what made me stop in my tracks.  It was the click of a loaded gun.

Louis' POV

Everything hurts, especially my head.  I don't think I've had this bad of a headache in my entire life.  Must be a migraine or something.  My chest really burns as well.  It feels like someone put out their cigarettes on my skin, or maybe I'm just on fire, I can't really tell.

My eyes won't open.  Why won't they fucking open?!  No matter how hard I try, they just fight back and stay closed.  My entire body seems to be fighting back and refusing to do anything I tell it to do.  It's almost like I'm cover by giant weights that hold me down on this very uncomfortable bed.  I want nothing more than to get up and stretch, maybe take an aspirin or two, and be on with my day, but my body doesn't seem to be having it.

I've been sitting here for what feels like hours, but I know by the horribly annoying beeping noise that it can't have been more than five minutes.  Finally, the sound of the door being pushed open fills the room, making me strain to open my eyes once more to see who has entered, but I fail to do so.  There were two sets of footsteps walking towards the bed, one at an even pace and the other in slow, broken steps.  They both stopped, one on either side of me and where I lay.

"Louis?" Liam's familiar voice asked.  I'm so glad he's here!  maybe he can help me open my eyes and get out of this damn constricting bed.  We've got shit to do and Harry to catch before it's too late!

"Liam!"  I tried to answer, but no words came out.  My mouth didn't even move and my breathing didn't change.  Why can't I speak?

"Louis, can you hear me?"  Liam asked, taking my hand in his.

"Of course I can hear you, dork!" I again tried to say, but was left with the same anticlimactic results.

"Do you think he can hear me?" My friend asked someone, clearly not me.  It was probably the person who owned the second set of footsteps.  Of course I can hear him, why wouldn't I be able to?

"It's very possible.  We have some patients who wake up and claim they heard everything that was told to them, while others wake up knowing nothing of what happened the entire time." A new voice answered.  He sounded like a doctor if I ever heard one, but what did he mean about waking up?  I'm not asleep, I just can't seem to get my body to do anything.

"How long do you think it will be until he wake up?" Liam shoots another question, squeezing my hand.  Oh how I wanted to squeeze it back and reassure him, but again, my body refused.

"It's hard to say," the doctor voice answered, "could be a few hours, could be a few years, could be anywhere in between.  It will happen when his body is ready."

"How often do people wake up in only a few hours?" My friend asked, seemingly bombarding the doctor with questions.

"Comas are unpredictable, Mr. Payne.  You just need to give him time.  Now if you'll excuse me, I have other patients to see." the doctor responded before walking out, closing the door behind him.

A coma?  I'm in a coma?  Is that why I can't move or answer Liam?  How weird, this isn't anything like I had imagined it to be.  I thought It would be like sleeping; like the whole world just moves on without me and I just wake up one day refreshed and confused, but it's not that easy.  I'm living this in real time, hearing every word that is spoken around me and going stir crazy not being able to move around freely.

"Oh Lou," Liam said, his voice cracking, followed by the telltale sounds of crying, "I'm so sorry.  I should have run faster." he sobbed, leaning down and resting his head on my shoulder, hand still gripping my own.

"It's okay, Liam," I wanted to tell him, but nothing came out, "It's not your fault!" My reassuring words meant nothing when he couldn't hear them, so I was left to listen to his sobbing for hours, being completely unable to comfort him.

I'm going to start a new story soon!! Keep an eye out;)
