Amilia woke up to swords clanging out of her window. She woke up, early for a Saturday, and opened her curtains just enough to see what was going on. It was Leo and Jasvinder, getting an early start on the day. The meeting had gone swimmingly, and she had met so many people. There were the regulars, of course, the ones she already knew. But there were new people, ones she met for the first time. She had met the top soldier for the God race to the right hand person to the newly established queen of Galaxia. No one is at the top of this council, at least not yet. Jkdek has played that role pretty well, saying he will be checking in and scheduling further appointments for the time being. They had a little get together tonight in the council's very own ballroom. The council even invited the respecting kingdoms royal families. As for now, it was the morning and she had just gotten dressed. She opened her door and walked down the hall, scratching her head. She had stayed the night with her parents. She slumped her way to the dining room and sat down.
"Hello, Princess Amilia." The cook said bowing to her.
"Good morning Bndekf." She said smiling from her slouched position.
"What would you like this morning, your majesty?"
"Oh, I don't know, surprise me."
He laughed, "As you wish, your majesty." He walked back into the kitchen and moments later brought her a glass of water and some bread. Amilia waited for some time and then the cook came back with her 'breakfast' feast. After she finished, she thanked the cook and then left down the hall. She couldn't find her parents, or anyone familiar, that is. So she left the palace and walked around the Market for a while. It was Saturday, so she didn't need to study with Unora. She left the Market and got started on her homework at Oglm's house. She tapped her hand on her desk and looked over to the clock. It wasn't time to head to the Market, so she busied herself by laying down on her bed. It was so weird for her to have time for herself. She got uncomfortable quite easily. She got up and went down the stairs, and back down to the Market where she wandered around for a little bit. Then she saw someone familiar, a face that helped her along the way.
"Andrea!" Amilia said, waving as she ran over to her.
"Amilia, nice to see you."
"How are you?"
"Oh, busy nowadays, I'm sure you know how it is."
Amilia laughed, "Not being queen though, how was your coronation?"
"Oh, that thing, ugh," She sighed, "I wanted to do something smaller than a typical 'princess' would do, but they insisted I do something big, so we went big." She said over-explaining with her hands. They began to walk.
"Oh, wow. That's something, I suppose."
"Yeah, I guess so. To be honest, your majesty, I can't wait to see yours."
"Mine?"
"Well, yeah."
"I don't know about that." Amilia said, scratching the back of her head. "I may be the princess, but I don't know if I exactly want to be queen."
"What do you want to be then?"
"I don't know that either." She paused. "I haven't been able to experiment like most people. I've been so busy with everything here."
"What about before?"
"Before?"
"Before all of this, this craziness."
"Well-" she stopped and put her hand to her chin. "I have to think back, gosh it's been at least five years now." She thought for a moment and then snapped her fingers. "An astronomer. I love looking at the stars and charting them, I've always wondered what it'd be like to explore the universe."
"So that's it then, pursue your dream."
"Yeah, I guess so."
"At least for a little while." Andrea winked. "I'm sure your parents will call you back to be queen, someday, but as for now, experiment with your life and find out what you love to do, and then do it."
"Is that why you are queen?"
Andrea laughed, "I suppose not. But it doesn't bother me. I owe it to my people, to give them a queen, after they've been under a dictatorship for so long. They deserve to be free and have their lineage back. But, it is pretty fun. Making decisions on colors and designs, training and the nice armor."
"You like to fight don't you?"
"Hey, I was raised as a warrior. I have been training since I was five. I had my first armor when I was six."
"Why am I not surprised?"
"Should you be? I mean, it is me."
They laughed.
"So why are you here anyway?"
"I came for the get-together, silly. My best knight is here, I can't even beat him. I want to support this as much as possible, plus, I want to talk to, uh, who is it now? That black haired man? I'd love to join the alliance, I'm sure I could provide something for you all."
Amilia smiled, "That's amazing! Thank you!"
"Hey, I need all the help I can get."
"You? You don't need any, you're doing just fine."
"Anything is better than nothing. Uh, so- what is that man's name? Just so I'm not rude."
"His name is Jkdek."
"Say it slower."
"Oh, right- it's Je-ke-dek." She said, sounding it out.
"So- Jkdek?"
"Yeah, that's right." They both walked into the room where they would gather.
"Welcome!" Jkdek said, greeting them. "Hello, ma'am." He said kissing her palm. "My name is Jkdek, I will be your host."
"Oh, well thank you. My name is Andrea Strill."
"Ah- Your majesty." He said bowing. "Pardon me, I had no idea."
"It's alright, I don't look as old as I should."
"Well, yes, but you are the teenage queen. Congratulations, by the way. I heard the coronation was a success."
"Oh, thank you, good to hear."
"Amilia, you must change into your gown. It's in your changing area already, please go put it on."
"Of course Jkdek." She turned and walked the other way, leaving the two of them alone in the room. She slipped on the gown and went back to the room. Jkdek greeted the guests one by one as they arrived. Welcoming all the old members and trying to make a good first impression on the new ones.
"Amilia!" Jkdek said, being informal. "What a wonderful idea you had. Three kingdoms have decided to join. Oh thank you, thank you, thank you!" He hugged her. "Oh, come, Miss. Cripple. Your parents are here." Jkdek grabbed her hand and led her to the doorway, where her parents stood. He let go of her and bowed to them, then he motioned back to Amilia. "Please enjoy." Jkdek said no more than that, but rather walked off to talk some more.
"Look at you, all dressed up." Cristel said, pinching Amilia on the cheeks.
"You look really nice too. That's a beautiful gown."
"Oh, why thank you."
"Oh my God." Amilia said, looking to her father.
"Is everything alright?"
"I have never seen you in a tuxedo. Usually you wear that fancy armor you have."
"Yes, well, I suppose I should live in the time, shouldn't I?"
"Mom yelled at you?"
Yxeyhzfkx laughed, "You know me so well."
They all laughed.
"Is that King Yxeyhzfkx?" Someone said, walking towards him. The man was holding a glass and had a woman on his arm.
"Is that- Vmndc (Vim-n-dec)?"
"Yes, your majesty, it's me!" He left his wife and gave Yxeyhzfkx a hug. "It's so wonderful to see you again, sir- or should I say, your majesty."
"Oh, skip the pleasantries. You know you can call me what you please."
"And madam Cristel, as beautiful as ever."
"I'm sorry, but I don't quite remember you."
"Oh, yes, of course, we only met briefly."
"So are you the king now? You're all grown up, all tall and everything."
"Yes, yes, I am. My parents retired quite some time ago. You know we don't live as long as half breeds."
"Oh, yes, excuse me. Well, how are they?"
"Wonderful, just great. Oh! Yxeyhzfkx," he grabbed the woman's hand and brought her forward, "This is my wonderful wife, Ogmn (Oo-ga-min)."
"Absolutely wonderful to meet you." Yxeyhzfkx bowed to her. Yxeyhzfkx was talking to the Sok Arc kingdom, the Darnel kingdom, at least it's king and queen.
"Vmndc, let me introduce you to someone." He turned to Amilia. "Come here, come here." She came close and then he grabbed her hand. Yxeyhzfkx put her in front of him and then put his hands onto her shoulders. "This is my daughter, Amilia."
"Wonderful to meet you, your majesty." The king and queen bowed to her and Amilia bowed back.
"You as well." She turned to walk away.
"Oh, wait a second your majesty." Amilia stopped and turned around.
"Yes, your majesty?"
"Sorry to stop you, dear, but, call me curious. You are the chosen one, yes?"
"Yes, I am." Amilia turned so she could see him clearly.
"How is that? Not to be rude or anything, of course, your hinance. And you, the father to the chosen one! You must be proud." Amilia answered him first,
"It can be a challenge some days. Living up to standards that you can't always uphold. But I manage it all in my own way, of course." Amilia walked away from them.
"I'm sorry, Yxeyhzfkx. I didn't mean anything by it, I just think it's interesting, is all. I used to-"
"Wonder who it would be, or what it would be like, I know. But she is my daughter, and is entitled to her privacy. Now, don't you go pushing around her, young king, I will protect my daughter with my life." They were quiet with each other for a moment. "And yes I am very proud to be her father. And I bet it makes you jealous too."
The king laughed. "You sneak, still the same Yxeyhzfkx I've always known. Well, I'll see you around the gala, and send me a letter, I can't wait to hear from you and trade! Goodness, I can't wait to see the great king I've heard so much about, in the flesh."
"You as well, my friend." Vmndc put his arm out and his wife grabbed it. They turned and walked away, stopping to chat with other friends.
"Old friends of yours?" Amilia said, sneaking up behind them.
"Yes, very old. I knew him when he was just a child. To see him all grown up, king even, is so- odd."
"Yeah, don't forget that'll be me one day."
"Ugh, don't remind me." Amilia looked over to her side and saw the other guests. She left her parents again and went back to walking around.
"And this is Amilia Cripple." Jkdek said motiong his hand towards her. He had a group of people behind him. And one by one they looked her over, said hello and bowed to her. Amilia followed them and did the same. The person that really intrigued her was that one guy, the one of the God race. He seemed to glow, with a certain 'never could do wrong' vibe. He walked as you think he would, he stood up tall and barely bent his legs. This made him look smug, like he was better than everyone. Then again, he was. He was the one the Gods assigned to the council after all. So he really was the best of the best. He didn't talk much, just listened. No one knew his name or where in the realm he was from. They didn't know his age or what abilities he had. It was kind of peculiar, but Amilia did happen to get most of the questions. Amilia did most of the talking that night, asking the normal questions, like "What's it feel like?" or "How does it work?" so she didn't have much time to get to know any of the new members, but she planned to.
"Hey, uh- sir?" Amilia said, walking in front of him, smiling and waving. He turned and looked at her.
"May I help you mortal?"
"Well, uh, we never got to talk the other day."
"Must we?"
"I- I-" She stopped. "I guess not." She scratched the back of her head. He looked at her.
"It is not that I do not have the desire to speak," He paused. "With you. It is the less you know the better. Us deities are hard to compare to. We don't want our chosen one to try to be a God, when she doesn't need to be. Don't get distracted, your time will come and you will shine. After then, perhaps we will speak." He said nothing more, but rather, just walked away.
