Third Person POV:
Dimentio looked up at Mr.L, his eye visible filled with so much shock from the man in green's actions. He was desperate to find out if this was somehow another trick. Another lie. Another deception. He didn't want to repeat history again. He wanted this to be as real as himself or the man in green before him.
"Waiting for something?" Mr.L chuckled, "Because I'm not going anywhere now until I can see that smile I saw from your old memories again."
Dimentio paused for a moment, his expression blank as he tried to decide whether to push him away or take the chance again.
By now, he was tired of trying to fight what fate had in store for him.
"...I put too much faith in you." Dimentio sighed, setting his mask to the side, "I somehow always find you easy to trust, even when common sense would scream in protest."
Mr.L laughed a little, holding him close.
"But trust, it is the tasty paste that holds civilization together!" Mr.L exclaimed, mimicking Dimentio.
Dimentio chuckled in response, placing a hand on Mr.L's cheek.
"You heard that little quote from Tippi, didn't you~?" Dimentio questioned.
Mr.L went a little wide-eyed, his face heating up.
"You knew that she was-?" Mr.L asked.
Dimentio laughed a little and nodded.
"What kind of king doesn't know who's in his domain?" Dimentio replied.
Mr.L sighed and leaned into Dimentio, the two of them in an embrace.
"Let's cut out the titles, huh?" Mr.L requested, "I prefer to just call you Dim..."
"Only if I can call you L, mi amor..." Dimentio murmured, burying his face into Mr.L's shoulder.
"Heheh, don't push it, Dim." Mr.L chuckled, placing a hand on the back of his head.
Mr.L held Dimentio close, his lip curved as a question he wanted to ask surfaced.
"Dimentio..." Mr.L started.
"Yes, L?" Dimentio asked, looking up at the man in green with a content smile.
"...why did you choose to bring me back? I don't want to believe that it was just because you had to..." Mr.L murmured, "So why did you? Even after you sent me away..."
The two of them both remained silent for a moment before Dimentio took a deep breath, deciding how to word his emotions into an answer.
"Do you see us? Right now, in this moment? This is the sort of perfect I have strived for." Dimentio replied, taking Mr.L's hands into his, "I have wanted ever since I could fathom what love was for a place where everything was like this; unconditional love."
Dimentio chuckled a little, smiling and leaning into Mr.L.
"A world where parents never leave their child. A world where friends don't have to say goodbye. A world where no curses can turn your life upside down. A world where no one CARES if you look like a freak!" Dimentio exclaimed, tears dotting his eyes.
He took a deep breath and pulled back, looking up into Mr.L's eyes.
"The way you look at me right now. The way you're holding me... The way you're caring about me..." Dimentio paused, "This is something I've wanted for the longest time, and there are so many others who had never gotten the chance in their lives to feel like this..."
He shook his head with a frown.
"And that's just cruel," Dimentio stated.
Mr.L sighed with a small smile.
"You can only perfect so much by taking everything out... Dim..." Mr.L told him, "You need to think about what the cost was."
Dimentio remained quiet for a moment, tilting his chin up to look at the man in green, searching his eyes for something.
"L... I know... Trust me, I know the price that this world cost..." Dimentio paused and took a deep breath, "But if you truly trust me, if you truly LOVE ME... I need you to have faith in my word."
Mr.L looked at Dimentio confused as he paused again.
"I have one thing, and one thing only I ask of you. I want you to close your eyes, and trust me." Dimentio told him, "I can fix every mistake that was made in creating this perfect world... No matter what you end up doing, the ultimate outcome will be the same."
Mr.L shook his head, confused by the turn on the conversation.
"What? Dim, you're not making sense..." Mr.L said.
"You will see." Dimentio paused, smiling slightly at a thought, "Even if this does turn for the worst, I don't know if I have anything else left to look forward to."
Mr.L looked at Dimentio, concerned that he was going to do something irreversible.
"Just close you're eyes, L," Dimentio murmured, pleading with his eyes.
The man in green remained frozen, unable to move as he looked at Dimentio. After a few moments of reluctance, Mr.L closed his eyes, closing himself off to the world.
Dimentio looked at the man in green for a moment, studying his features. Mr.L sat there across from him with his hands in his lap, a slight frown on his face with his eyes shut. After what felt like an eternity of nothing, Dimentio leaned forward into Mr.L. Dimentio brushed his bangs aside, revealing the other half of his face as he locked his lips with Mr.L's, his arms wrapped around to his back.
Dimentio kissed Mr.L, and the man in green returned it. Mr.L didn't know what he was expecting, but he was most certainly shocked to find himself locked in a passionate embrace with the former jester. Mr.L pressed against Dimentio, and Dimentio pressed against him, both of them with their arms around each other, keeping one another close.
Mr.L smiled into him, bliss washing over him like a tidal wave of calm. Dimentio felt tears slip down his face as he kissed Mr.L, overwhelmed by the feeling of joy in finally having that special someone here with him like this.
Even though Dimentio had told Mr.L to close his eyes, he wanted to open them regardless. He wanted to see the face of the man who was happy and innocent before there was anything like a curse or the prophecy to weigh his smile into a frown. Mr.L slowly opened his eyes, waiting to see the same image of Dimentio from the earliest memories he saw, his pale face and dark-colored eyes with a soft smile. Instead, he was met with a different, much more shocking, and frightful sight.
Half of Dimentio's face appeared how it did in all of the memories he saw, but the other half of his face that had been hidden was like a polar opposite. His left side's skin was like a charred black, and his mouth was jagged and pointed like a demon's would be. And his eye; what was once a soft black-colored iris was now a bright glowing yellow that replaced even the white of his eye.
The sudden sight of something so different, so unexpected, was too much for the man in green. Before he could even think twice or stop himself, Mr.L let out a scream of surprise and shoved Dimentio away from him. Dimentio hit the wall and let out a cry of pain, his expression changing to disbelief and sadness as he looked up at Mr.L.
"S-so..... That's how it is then, huh?" Dimentio choked out, tears welling up fast in his mismatched eyes, "I-I am a man of my word, nonetheless... Although I really wanted to believe that you could see past my twisted complexion."
Dimentio quickly stood up, walking to the door as he snatched up his undershirt and tossed it on.
"Ciao, mi amor....." Dimentio murmured.
Mr.L frantically shook his head, getting to his feet as Dimentio began to run down the hall.
"Dimentio, WAIT, PLEASE!" Mr.L exclaimed, running after him, "I didn't mean it like that! I swear! I couldn't stop myself!"
Dimentio didn't seem to even hear Mr.L as he picked up the pace, running down the corridor once more into the mirror hall. Mr.L desperately tried to keep up, call out to him, anything, but nothing could reach him.
"Dimentio! What are you doing?! Where are you going?! Don't leave me alone!" Mr.L begged, "It's not your fault, it's mine!!!"
As the two of them sprinted down the hall, Dimentio made a sudden sharp turn and Mr.L was unable to stop. Mr.L let out a yelp and stumbled into a doorway into a new room. Dimentio came up from behind and closed the door to the room, locking it from the outside and leaving him in the dark.
"I'm going elsewhere. Everything will be perfectly fine once I leave." Dimentio said, "Promise."
Without another word, Dimentio left, walking down the hall at a brisk pace to Grambi knows where.
