I woke up to the alarm clock on my phone at 5:30am. I groaned and clicked snooze. Realizing what I did I sat suddenly unlocking my phone and going to the clock app. I had alarms at 20 minute intervals until 6:40am. (Yes I'm that type of person.) I rushed to the 5:30am alarm so I could turn it off .
After doing so I sighed with relief. If I left the alarm on snooze then it would go off again in five minutes and throw off my whole sequence of events.
I flopped back on my bed and though, '20 more minutes should be just enough to make me awake more later.' I drifted back to sleep, but 20 minutes came by too fast. I wanted to turned it off and slept for another 20 minutes. Next time around I wanted to do the same, but I knew that I should get ready for my first day of being and eighth grader. So by that time it was 6:20.
I sighed again as I sat up and stretch. I jumped off my bed and searched through the boxes of clothes I yet had to unpack. My book bag was on the other side if a box cluttered room. I had all my school supplies in it, so I was almost prepared.
I was stuck choosing between a band tee and a plain shirt. I thought to myself, 'you want to fit in right? Go with the safe choice, wear the band tee later.' So I put the tee away and the shirt on with a nice pair of jeans. I put a pair of new sneakers on too.
I went over and picked up my book bag and took it to he living room, making sure my door was shut on the way out. I left my book bag by the door and went into the kitchen. I had already silenced my other alarms so no more would go off. I took out a lunch box and began to scour the kitchen for lunch and snack material. I found some cookies, made a sandwich, got an apple and banana, some fruitsnacks, and some crackers. I also filled a water bottle.
It was 6:50 by then. School didn't open until another hour. So that meant I actually had time to make and eat breakfast. My dad was awake by then.
"Good morning dad. I was going to make some scrambled eggs, would you like any?"
He sipped his coffee. He acted like that night never happened, and I was acting that way too. There was a bit of an awkward silence for a while before he nodded his head and said, "yeah sure, and make me some toast too."
I knew he wanted two eggs and two prices of toast, and he knew I knew. That was our thing after all. We would have scrambled eggs and put them in between two prices of toast so we could have sandwiches for breakfast.
I got four pieces of bread and put them in the toaster oven we had. I left them in there so they could be toasted. Then I got out a large bowl, and four eggs. I cracked the eggs and began to beat them with a fork.
I used a tiny bit i water and continued to beat the eggs for a bit of fluff. I set the bowl on the counter and hour out a non-stick pan and put it on the stovetop, turning it on too. After it got warm enough I put the eggs on the pan and began to cook them.
I left the eggs for a little bit to get two plates down and take the pieces of toast out and onto the plates. Quickly I finished the eggs and put them on the toast.
I brought my dad the his plate then went back into the kitchen to eat in there. When I was done I went out the door withy book Baganda began to walk to my new school. My head full of thoughts about what it might be like.
