The cold, winter breeze fluttered through the mysterious fog, I woke up, startled. It was still dark outside, I felt uneasy, an almost uncomfortable feeling, as if I was being watched. I stared out the window, it was plastered with frost from overnight, streetlights pierced through the road, showing crumbled leaves hopelessly laying on the sidewalk.
Effortfully, I clambered out of bed, I turned on my light and slowly opened my creaky wardrobe. I chose something simple and warm to wear since I was only planning to go to the park today.
Hey, my name is Selene, I am currently 15 years old and I live in Manhattan, New York. My life is quite boring, all I do is just read books and take walks down the beach. I have brunette hair and emerald green eyes, everyone always compliments my eyes then acts like I never existed. They are like the only reason people actually talk to me, I don't like it.
*3 hours pass*
Glancing out the window, I started hearing the birds chorus echoing throughout the empty streets, but I unfortunately couldn't see them. Slowly, the sun started rising, it looked was like a massive lightbulb that stretched upwards each morning.
"SELENE! BREAKFAST READY!" a voice yelled from downstairs.
It was my own dear step-mother. She despises me, but only 'loves' me when Dad is around, otherwise she treats me like a house maid. Sighing, I walked downstairs and saw my step-mother smirking murderously at me. I scowled at her.
"Ah, good morning dear, did you sleep well?" Dad's polite tone whirled through my ears.
"Yeah, I guess," I mumbled back, taking a seat furthest away from my horrid step-mother.
After a while, I had a plate of plain toast waiting in front of me, I quickly ate it.
"Right, thanks for the food, I'm going down for a walk at the beach," I announced as I headed towards the door.
"Bye love!" my dad exclaimed, blowing me a sarcastic kiss.
I smiled. A true smile.
I put on my shoes and headed outside, chattering bellowed from the bar a couple blocks down, I took a right turn towards the tranquil beach. For some reason, the beach always calmed me: the soothing waves gently crashing on shore, birds elegantly fluttering their wings as they leapt through the misty sky and obviously the gorgeous view that amazed my eyes every time. Suddenly, at least I could have sworn, a dark, blurry figure appeared in the corner of my eye. Frantically, I whipped my head around just to find nothing was there... Confused, I decided to ignore it. Unfortunately, every time I turned back to face the sea, it reappeared. Annoyed, I stood up, turned and walked towards the figure had previously stood. I sat down, hoping I had outsmarted the weird hallucinations. Obviously, I was incorrect, this time it appeared where I was last standing.
Scoffing, I was instantly alerted that the mysterious thing was now in front of me, and I could see it clearly. It was a tall, handsome young man, beaming at me as if he hadn't just been stalking me. He was wearing a white toga and a head piece with leaves on top of his head.
"Greetings, fellow mortal, I truly apologise for startling you!" he announced proudly, bowing slowly.
