Prologue
Blood.
Lots of blood.
Dark woods.
Too many howls in the night. I saw them in a vision, like a dream state. But none of this I imagined I would believe in my life. My mother and father used to come into my room at night when I screamed from a nightmare "Katie" my mother's voice said, her eyes creased with worry and my fathers eyes looked like he was about to lose someone. "Mom" I sobbed and my father came to sit beside me and hugged me tight. My fathers hugs were like a reassurance that nothing cold hurt me, that I was his one and only treasure (which I was). My mothers words always calmed me when I was angry or frustrated or scared by other-worldly things that might kill me during my sleep and my dreams.
"Katie" My mother said and I kept my mouth shut, but I had to tell her, tell her that there are things that are haunting me and that I could never get to sleep without monsters of all sorts killing me. But I knew what she would do, she would call the hospital and put me into a mental ward. Don't get me wrong, my mother is great but don't tell her things that will end you up in a Mental Hospital (she's done it to me before). I opened my mouth the next time my mother said my name and decided to tell her. "I thought you stopped seeing them in your dreams?" my mother said "I did, but them they came back!" I exclaimed, throwing my hands up and I can see in my mothers eyes that she was about to turn around and ring the hospital again.
"I won't call the hospital this time, but you are going to stay with a relative until we can find out what is going on" my mother said and I nodded numbly. My eyes turned blurry as tears eloped me and my parents left and I was left lying in bed and crying.
