George and Dream had been dating for about nine months, and George was starting to notice things about his boyfriend.
Dream was a paranoid wreck; at some points.
He was constantly stressing about George falling out of love with him.
The reason for this was his ex boyfriend Luke.
Luke never actually showed Dream any real love. Never sweet kisses before falling asleep, watching movies together after dinner, or even saying the words.
The words that meant so much to dream.
In fact, dreams love language was words of affirmation. The blonde constantly wishing for Luke to say the three words that sent him to see stars.
"I love you"
The entire time Dream dated Luke, he had only said it once. Not even seriously. He had laughed while saying the syllables.
Dream had been manipulated, and turned indifferent. He wasn't his old self after breaking up with Luke.
He was no longer bubbly, or giddy. And his happy verbal stimmimg sounds, turned into fidgety nervous ones.
That particular change made George upset. He missed nothing more, to hear dream make little "brrr" sounds with his Lips, when he was content. The brunette not knowing how endearing it was, until it was gone.
Dreams whole personality, had chipped off in places.
Of course, as time passed, Dream slowly came back. His real adoring personality showing more. He wasn't afraid to be too loud around George, he'd stopped asking if it was okay to hold his hand, and had started playfully teasing the brunette.
The kind of love they both wished for.
George loved how his best friend, and lover, were shining through the shell Luke created.
Dream always had a sinking feeling. A feeling that George had been fake loving him. Yet, for some reason, trusted George more than anyone.
George had noticed dreams Paranoia. He'd try and cover up everything he did. Whether it be leaving crumbs on the counter, spilling water, or even just sleeping too long.
It was never a big deal, but George couldn't help but feel how Dream became shaky, and fidgety after doing something 'wrong'.
Dream was under the impression that George would leave him if he messed up. It caused him to constantly worry, and check for any mistakes. Only hoping he'd somehow become perfect for him.
——
Dream was missing George. His current boyfriend, was out buying some groceries.
George had been the best partner Dream ever had. The brunette was kind, and very thoughtful when it came to words. Always having a way of making dream feel special.
The bar for affection was so low, George had brought the blonde a glass of water, and Dream was over the moon.
The simple gestures making dreams heart flutter, and butterflies erupt in him. It had been forever since a partner showed him love. It was always the other way around.
Dream tried to show George the same type of love, by bringing him a glass of water the day after.
He was confused to why George didn't seem to have the same reaction to it as he did.
So Dream tried again. He tried to copy the things George did for him, not understanding that it Accustom for partners to do this.
The blonde could not wrap his head around the fact George did things for him. He'd never been a relationship where the other person, actually shows love back.
He had even cried after their first time, when George gave him aftercare. The simplest things could make Dream emotional and happy.

Dream was passing time by unloading the dishwasher. Just waiting for George to return. He'd was almost done, and just had a few plates left.
He heard George's car pull back from his shopping trip.
It made him feel like the dishes should have been done already. Despite George not even asking for it to be done, it was a reason to panicked.
A reason for George to be mad, or leave him.
Dream started to shove plates into the cupboard. Somehow hoping he'd get it done intime. Having flashbacks of Luke screaming at him to get it done quicker.
His hands suddenly lost grip on a plate, causing it to fall to the floor. Shattering once it hit the tiles.
Dreams eyes glossed over at the thought of George seeing the broken plate. A Part of him knew George would just help him clean it up, but the past clouded his sensible answer.
He could almost hear Luke yelling at him still.
George opened the door to dream frantically picking up shards of glass, with his bare hands. George couldn't believe that the blonde would even consider that.
The glass cut dreams hands, as he still tried to clean before George could stop him.
"DREAM! Stop!"
The blonde immediately dropped the glass and let the tears welling fall. He thought George was mad at him. He backed into the lower cabinet, and covered his head with his arms.
His mind was erupting with memories of Luke. Screaming, and hitting him for something similar he had done.
Dream was slipping from reality as he felt George stand in front of him.
The brunette bent down to kneel in front of Dream. Trying to calm him down somehow. He knew exactly what dream thought he was going to do to him, and it hurt.
Dream had genuinely thought George would hit him, let alone he mad at him general.
"Dream? I'm not mad-"
Dream started to cry as he tried to move away farther. Having felt scared of George suddenly. He knew deep down George would never hit him, but his mind wouldn't let that thought pass through him. Only seeing, and hearing Luke screaming at him.
"Dream it's okay, calm down-"
Dream began to sob. He didn't even know why he was crying. Only hurting and needing a way to let it out.
He was stressed from all the 'wrong things' he had done, and was waiting for George to suddenly flip. Flip and start yelling at him.
George hesitantly reached for dreams hands they were all cut up, and bleeding from the glass they held.
"Come on, your hands are bleeding"
The brunette lead dream from where he was curled, noticing how he flinched.
Dream sat down at the kitchen island, waiting for further instructions on what George wanted.
George gently wrapped bandaids around dreams fingers, and palm. The blonde refusing to look him in the eye.
"Are you okay now? Do your hands still hurt?"
George expected his boyfriend to nod, but instead he spoke up.
Very quietly, and delicate.
"You're- like.. not gonna leave me, right?"
George's mouth dropped. Why would he even think that?
Dream eyed the countertop, while hanging his head low. He was preparing himself for George to leave, just as Luke did.
"What? Baby, why would I leave you?"
"Because I dropped the plate.. I keep doing things wrong and I-"
Dream felt himself on the verge of tears. He was genuinely unconvinced that george wasn't going to leave.
"Dream..? Thats perfectly fine you dropped a plate. It's not a big deal anyway.."
Dream looked up with puppy eyes. Seemingly baffled by George's response.
He just had it keep reminding himself;
George wasn't luke.
George ruffled dreams hair from across the counter, and kissed his hair.
"You can make mistakes, you know? It's normal, and I don't mind at all"
The blonde nodded as he wiped his face. He had a slight smile forming, and was basking in George's words.
Maybe it was okay.
