It's been about a month since Aaron and I went on our kind of the first date. We decided to make it official two days ago but ever since we did, Parker and Levi have been acting weird. Not weird in the sense that it's obvious but just acting differently. I haven't told Chase yet but hopefully, I run into him.

I walk down to the ice rink to meet with my dad for something. I knock on the office door and hear a voice tell me to come in.

I walk in and see my dad and a tall man who looks a little familiar. "Hey dad" I greet.

"Hey sweetheart, this is Mr. Connor" he points to the man in a business suit.

"Connor? As in Chase Connor?" I shake his hand.

"Yes, that's my son" he smiles widely. That's probably the closest I'll get to see Chase's. "Do you know him?" he fixes his tie.

"Yea I do, friends," I tell him.

"Friends? A girl is Chase's friend? That's interesting" he raises one eyebrow.

"Yea we met a few months ago when I was new to school" I clarify. "What are we doing at an ice rink?" I look at my dad.

"Mr. Connor asked if I could partner him in sponsoring the hockey team tournaments coming up," he says.

"My son chose a sport that he barely plays instead of football but whatever makes him a superstar" Mr. Connor shrugs.

I can see why Chase is always hanging with the others, his dad seems like a lot to deal with.

"Go check out the rink" my dad points.

I leave and close the door behind me and start walking down the stadium stairs. I look to see someone in a number 0 jersey, practicing.

I open the rink doors and see Chase stop to look and skates up at me.

"Hey Kayla, what are you doing here?" he takes off his gloves.

"My dad called me down here and I met yours too," I tell him.

"Oh no, what did he say?" he sighs.

"Nothing bad" I smile.

"Good" he looks relieved.

"So you're back to playing sports" I gesture at the rink.

"Yea, I decided to pick it back up" he smiles, like actually smiles. He has amazing teeth and he doesn't look so intimidating with a nice smile on his face.

I gasp and my mouth hangs open. Slowly, I form a big smile. Chase furrows his eyebrows in confusion.

"What?" he asks.

"Finally!" I make an echo in the stadium and start dancing around.

"What are you so happy for?" he still smiles.

"That right there!" I point to his face. "The legendary smile! You have dimples too! Aww." I clap.

"You are something" he shakes his head.

"I told you that you'd find something, I didn't know it would be a sport, you are such a guy, I thought it would be while having fun or Ava" I calm down.

"Ava? Why?" he asks.

"I would think your girlfriend would," I tell him.

He chokes up "Girlfriend? She isn't my girlfriend" he shakes his head no.

"That's what she told me" I shrug.

"I kissed her once! In 8th grade! Now she thinks we're soulmates or something" he runs his hand through his hair.

"I'm happy for you, you don't look so, angry all the time now," I say.

He laughs at me and smiles again. A shiver runs down my spine at the cold air finally hitting my body. I shake a little and Chase notices.

"We should get out of here, it gets pretty cold after a while." he comes out of the rink and takes off his skates.

I wait outside the boy's locker room while Chase changes. He walks out and looks down at me.

"So Levi told me you made the soccer team" he starts.

"I did" I smile. "You haven't been around lately, I'm guessing this is what you've been up to," I tell him.

"Yea this is why" he smiles again looking at me and back forward. "What about you, it's not like you've been free either."

"I've been hanging out with the others and I got a boyfriend so I'm still learning how this works and working," I tell him.

"Boyfriend?" his eyes widen a little.

"Yea, it's that boy from the party" I point out.

"Ah ok," he nods.

"I still hang out with you guys of course"

"No doubt" he has a small smile that turns into a calm emotionless face.

Our dads walk out in front of us and stop talking about whatever sports events are going on right now. "Hey you ready?" my dad looks at me.

"Yep, see you later Chase, bye Mr. Connor" I wave and walk away with my dad by my side.

He walks me to my car and tells me that he'll meet me at the house before leaving.

I quickly get back home and finally relax, I have everything off my mind now. I take off my shoes and plop on my bed. I turn on my tv and start to watch season three of Legacies. I get a text from Aaron saying he'll pick me up from school tomorrow and I agree immediately. I love and hate driving especially after school.

Once I finish the third episode, I get up and go take a shower but I take extra long to make time to think.

Chase seemed a bit shocked when I told him I had a boyfriend but I'm also really shocked that he isn't dating Ava as it seems that she is obsessed with him.

Nick hasn't bothered me as much anymore when he saw me with Aaron in the morning at the parking lot. I need to talk to him eventually so we can get whatever vendetta he has against me.

Levi told me about the school trip coming up in a few months to Switzerland. Like THE Switzerland. It'll be nice to get out of America for a while. The fees are about 500 dollars but I'll use the money I've been saving up so dad doesn't have to worry about it too much. I wanna help him more now that he's all alone.

I get out of the shower and I get what felt like a punch in my lungs. I take a seat in my bathtub and take a deep breath before getting back up. My iron is probably just low.

Hopefully.
