What is Reggae music? Reggae Music is based on ska, an earlier form of Jamaican popular music, and employs a heavy four-beat rhythm driven by drums, bass guitar, electric guitar, and the "scraper". Reggae's roots trace back to the late 1940s and 1950s when the Jamaican recording industry was in its infancy.
Reggae music combines the intensity of soul music, the light touch of ska, and the spiritual center of Jamaican mento. It is famed for the rhythmic patterns heard in percussion, bass lines, and rhythm guitar parts (staccato).
Many World wide Known artists have come from the music genre, Bob Marley, Dennis Brown,Peter Tosh, Jimmy Cliff, etc...
Reggae music has attracted a lot of tourists to Jamaica, like the Bob Marley museum (located at 6, 56 Hope Rd, Kingston )where a lot of tourists go to see all the things Bob Marley has done and let lead to the success of reggae music today.
Throughout the year's Reggae has maintained its style with a lot of artists making music in its genre, like Chronixx, Protoje, Ziggy Marley, and many more.
