She opened her eyes all of the sudden and started sweating profusely while slowly looking at her surroundings.
It was quiet.
A little too quiet.
That's what she hates.
She then realized that she was at her bedroom. That's when the door suddenly opened and by the doorframe was the person who she has been dreading the most. Her instincts suddenly kicked in and ran past the huge figure and headed towards her mom's room where she saw her laying on the floor all battered and bruised and barely breathing. Before she can do anything else, she was held back by the hair and pulled towards the ground and was faced with a gun in front of her.
"Sabi ko nga ba eh, mahanap ko talaga kayo."
"Please. Hayaan mo na si Mama. Ako nalang."
"If I couldn't have you both... No one can."
*BANG!*
Calliope then sits up abruptly with tears in her eyes and breathing heavily as she looks around frantically and realizes that she's on her couch with her cellphone on the floor and tv on static. She look at the phone screen and seeing it was drained and hurriedly went to her bag by the table and took out her charger and plugged her phone before going up the stairs and slowly went towards the bedroom of her mother to check up on her.
As she opened the door, she saw her mom sleeping peacefully which made her heart beat a little bit slower and made her breathe normally again. She approached her mom slowly and gave her a kiss on the forehead and silently left the room and closed her mother's door.
Callie proceeded downstairs and poured herself a glass of cold water from the kitchen and sat back on the sofa where she slept earlier then changed the channel on the TV to MTV where Nirvana was playing on the background in which she turned up the volume but not so much that would wake up her mother upstairs. She took a sip of her water and placed it on their coffee table and looked at her phone which was currently charging but noticed it's cord all tattered up.
"Haist.. Kailangan ko bumili ng bago nito bukas, mukhang hindi na ito kakayanin hanggang next week."
Calliope finished up the rest of her water then rested her head on the couch trying to get comfortable but suddenly reached for something under the sofa for something she always keeps handy just in case.
Her steel baseball bat she had since she was a kid.
Once she was sure it was under the couch, she started to close her eyes once again and let the background rock music lull her to sleep.
It's just a dream. He won't hurt you. He won't hurt Mom. You won't let him.
