*Third Person POV*
"João." She called him quietly.
She scanned the entire home office and saw it was a mess. Papers, files and office essentials were scattered all over the floor. What scares her the most is the firearm that is just laying at the table.
She turned her sight to the angry figure that was just glaring at the window. He gripped the still of the window till all of his veins were bulging out of his skin. He was puffing out angrily, to which she swore she could see smoke coming out of his nose.
Something happened with the shipping and deliveries. Let's just say João went into an explosive rage.
"João." She called again, louder this time. Since he didn't respond for the first time.
He looked over his shoulder and saw his fidgeting girlfriend. "What?" He said calmly but with a hint of anger in his tone.
She flinched a little at the tone of his voice. "I need to tell you something." She said in a low voice but loud enough for João to hear.
"What is it, Sofia?" He asked worriedly. A worried feeling took over him when he saw her fidgeting. Usually that's a sign of her being scared or nervous. He took his grip off the window and slowly walked towards her.
Every step he takes makes her heart beat louder. Her lungs felt like it wasn't functioning properly. She couldn't breathe at all. She breathed in and out so fast, out of desperation for air.
João noticed this and went by her side. "Amor what's wrong?" João asked in a panic.
It felt like she was about to have a panic attack. With João by her side, he was making it worse. "I…I…." She managed to stammer out.
"What do you need, Sofia?" He asked in a hurry.
Sofia gathered all the courage that was left of her and bravely looked him in the eyes. "I want to break up!" She exclaimed fast before bolting to the door.
João was taken aback by her words but his pause broke when he saw she was about to leave. His reflex kicked in. He rushed to her and closed the door with one hand before spinning her around to face him.
Sofia flinched at the sight of his fury eyes. She always hates it when he gets mad and she chooses the wrong time to tell him. She peeked at the gun that was sitting at the table. Fear coursed through her veins at the bad thought of what he might do to her.
"Sofia." His voice snapped out of her thoughts and she was forced to look at his fury eyes again. "Why?" He demanded furiously.
He was shaking in anger. His eyes were enough for her to silence her voice. She couldn't find the strength to fight him back. This is how she always is. A scared and weak lady.
Her silence was starting to get impatient for him, which made him even angrier. He punched the door out of anger, which made a dent. She flinched again with stars forming in her eyes.
He felt a hurtful tug at his heart. It was a weight full of regrets. "Why?" He asked, shaking
The fear in Sofia has drastically changed into anger. She seriously couldn't believe that he still hasn't noticed. "You are so blind you know that!" She said unexpectedly.
"Do you want to know why huh?" She sarcastically asked.
"Because you are dangerous João. Everyday I always see you covered up in blood or bruises. Sometimes I even saw you killing someone in the yard or the gate. I hated that." She ranted.
"Also you are a possessive prick who is insecure and unhinged. I graduated a month ago, the university held a graduation trip for all the students and do you know who was the only one not there? ME! Because my boyfriend told me not to go because your rivals know about me even though you defeated them TWO months ago! That's right, I know about the downfall of your rivals and I was stupid enough to believe it." She stopped her rant with tears flowing down.
João froze. She finally knew about the secret he was holding from her.
"Everyday during the day of their trip. I always look at my friend's social media. I was jealous of them. They get to hang out with the others while I stay here doing nothing at all. Even though you always give me something they always want, you can't give me what they have, which is freedom. Whenever I go out, you always have to come. It was just suffocating." She exclaimed. Her voice was raised loudly in every word.
"So that's why I'm breaking up with you. To have my freedom back. Away from your arms because I am not a possession. Now leave me alone!" She shouted.
She mustered up all the strength and pushed his arms away from the door. Before opening it, and bolted to their room that was at the edge.
She closed the door and locked the door with the deadbolt latch. A loud banging was heard from the other side of the door. She stood away from the door out of fear. "Sofia. Amor. Sal y hablemos." He shouted.
(Come out and let's talk.)
She jumped onto the bed and pulled the blanket over her head. Many tears landed on the soft pillow with him still banging on the door.
She felt some sort of relief because she managed to let out all of her struggles to him.
*Many hours later*
She woke up feeling terrible. She pulled the blanket away from her head and took a look around her surroundings. She remembered that she was in their room.
She got up from the bed and walked to the door. With shaky fingers, she twisted the deadbolt latch straight. A part of her thinks that João is waiting outside, with fury in his eyes. She breathed in and pushed down on the door handle.
However instead of the door moving, it stays in place like it was a statue. She pushed the door and the handle again but it just won't budge. "Hey what's going on?" She yelled out while banging on the door.
She was shaking the door vigorously and banging on the door like a serial killer. "LET ME OUT." She screamed while banging on the door.
"JOÃO" She screamed out of desperation.
She thought of an idea. She moved to the end of the bed before charging at the door. Her body clashed with the door but due to her being small, she ended up on the floor with pain all over her.
She got up, ignoring the pain and tried for the second time. Once again, the result was the same, nothing.
She did it for about 3 more times before she slid down the door and to the floor. She stuck her legs to her chest and put her head at the door. Pain surrounded all of her body.
She was about to lose all hope before she saw a window just a few steps away from her. This was her chance to escape.
She got up from her position and opened the window. She looked down and saw that she was really high above. There's no way she could jump without breaking a limb.
An idea popped into her mind. She went to the bed and started to take all the sheets from the pillow to the bed sheet and blanket. She tied up every end with the other before tying them to the bedpost.
Once she made sure it was tight, she threw the remaining sheets out the window. She looked down and saw that the sheets were long enough to reach down.
She grabbed a bag from the closet and started filling it up with all her necessary papers and documents. She left her phone and all the credit cards he gave her at the bedside table.
She carefully sat on the sill with her legs dangling at the edge. She looked to the door behind her to make sure that no one was unlocking it. "Goodbye João." She whispered before going down.
She climbed down the rope of sheets fast while looking up, to see if any of the sheets were about to be untangled or if João is up in the room.
Her feet finally touched the grass and she crouched down to see if there was any security. When she saw there wasn't she went beside the car that was near the wall.
She carefully climbed up the car. Carefully to not trigger any alarms. She put her hands on top of the car and put her foot at the wheel. She swung her legs to the top and pushed herself up.
Once she stood at the top of the car. She climbed up the large wall surrounding the house. She jumped down and rolled at the grass.
She got up and rubbed the dirt off her before running away from the house. She kept looking back to make sure nobody was chasing her.
This was it. She's leaving Madrid with João in it.
