PERNILLE'S POV
Magdalena and I have never been big fans of the beach, we are more the type of couple that would spend their holidays somewhere in the mountains. However, since Ingrid and her new girlfriend are, and they invited us and some of our friends to join them on vacation, we didn't turn down the occasion to get tanned at least a little.
«Where are the others?» I ask Fridolina, waking up from my nap on the beach.
«Only God knows where the hell Ingrid and Mapi are right now...» she winks at me.
«What about Simon and Magda?»
«They went to buy something to drink» she answers, sitting up and staring at me. «I need to ask you a question.»
Concerned because of her serious tone, I sit up as well and look at her, waiting for her to say something.
«I think Simon is planning on proposing.»
«Wow! Great! You have been together forever, about time you take it to the next step!»
«Honung, I could say the same thing about you and Magda» she says, rolling her eyes. «You have been together longer than us.» (English: Honey.)
«Well... I always thought Magda would take the first step» I mutter, embarrassed.
«Wait, does that mean that you would be ready to say yes if she asked you?»
«I might...»
Luckily, before she can ask me more questions about the marriage thing – which was about her in the first place – our partners come back holding some coconut water.
«Here, babe» my girlfriend smiles at me, giving me a bottle. «Good nap?»
«Ja. Wanna go for a walk?»
She nods, so after I've taken a sip of water I take her hand and we start walking towards the sidewalk, while the other couple stays behind, too busy talking about something else, which seems important enough for me and Magda to understand that we need to give them some time alone.
«You're never gonna believe what I saw» Magda laughs, barely holding it together. «I went to get some more sunscreen and found Ingrid basically on Mapi.»
«Were they making out hard?»
«Oh baby, they weren't making out.»
Grossed by the picture of seeing Ingrid having sexual intercourse with Mapi – since she's basically my little sister – I make a weird face which makes Magda chuckle harder than expected.
«A kiss?» I ask her, with puppy eyes, stopping and waiting for our lips to touch.
«Just one. For the other ones you will have to wait for this afternoon.»
«What's this afternoon?»
«Well, since we're here I thought we could have a unique date before we leave this paradise.»
«I don't know if I can wait until tonight to have another kiss, though» I frown.
«You will have to» she smiles, giving me my well-merited peek on the lips. «Shit, I forgot my phone. I'll be right back.»
She quickly runs back to where we left Simon and Fridolina, and when she comes back she's fully soaked because of the hot temperatures, to which she's not used to.
«Take it off» I smirk.
«Your wish is my command, ma'am» she winks back at me, revealing her toned abs while lifting up her t-shirt. «I don't know if this bathing suit suits me, though.»
«You look incredible» I smile playfully, giving her a kiss.
«That's not allowed.»
«You said you wouldn't give me any kisses...»
«Then if you must» she rolls her eyes playfully.
As I am about to kiss her again, she runs away and enters the water, leaving her clothes on the sand.
«God, you're slow!» she shouts.
I jokingly sigh and follow her inside the beautiful, clean ocean.
Fridolina knocks on my bedroom door and smiles at me more than usual – which is a lot already since she's really big on smiles.
«Hey» I smile back, while getting ready for my date with Magdalena. «I can't stay with you much longer, Magda is waiting for me downstairs.»
«Yeah, I know, just wanted to see how you're doing. What is your plan for the night?»
«She just told me that we're gonna eat and then take a walk» I shrug my shoulders. «Why?»
«Nothing, just wanted to know. Is that what you're wearing?»
She points at my shorts and my tank top – which might not sound very appealing but they are really classy – and smiles again.
«Mm-mm» I nod. «Why?»
«Nothing. Have fun.»
She hugs me and then leaves, leaving me wondering why she's acting so strangely.
Magdalena looks really beautiful; I am staring at her as she's pouring wine into my glass, and she has never looked this flawless: the color of her shirt really brings out the beauty of her eyes, and her shorts are revealing her beautiful long legs.
«You okay?» she chuckles.
«Yeah, just thinking.»
«About what?»
«About how you promised me you would kiss me and you haven't yet.»
«That's false, we've kissed.»
«I kissed you.»
She smirks and brings me in, leaving me a soft kiss on the lips.
«Here, you happy now?»
«Much happier.»
I finish the last bits of sushi left as the sun goes down in the sea, leaving the most gorgeous colors in the sky.
«What is the real purpose of this date?» I finally ask her, while settling down on the sand.
«Why is there supposed to be a purpose? I just wanna spend some time with you before going back home.»
She lies down next to me, but while I am looking at the sea in front of us, she's staring at me, playing with my hands and whistling some songs. This goes on for a few minutes, in which we don't say anything and just enjoy ourselves silently.
«Actually... there is a purpose to this date» she smiles, getting up.
I look at her confused as she takes something out of her bag, but the confusion quickly becomes surprise once she kneels in front of me and shows me a ring inside a little box, held up by her shaky hands.
«Pernille, we have shared some of the best moments of our lives, from our first professional contract to our first senior call-ups. I would love to also share the rest of our lives together, and for that I have to ask you this question: will you please become my wife?»
I am speechless, and have to keep my hands on my mouth because of the surprise.
«Y-yes» I stutter.
«I love you» she smiles, getting up to hug me.
«I love you, too, so, so, so much» I start crying from happiness.
She takes my hand and places the ring on my finger, but I don't even look at it; all I care about is looking at her and our future together. I kiss her and close my eyes, while she places her hands on my hips and holds me closer, as if she was making sure that I'm not gonna run away from her.
«Did you plan all of this yourself?»
«Frido gave me a hand. She was the one that told me to actually go through with it.»
«Is that the reason of all her strange questions today?»
«Might be.»
I kiss her again, and we stay in each other's arms for what seem to be hours; the sun is now down, but we are still together, clanging onto each other and onto our love.
