Spottedleaf purred, licking Pinekit's head. The tiny orange tom squeaked in protest, staring at his mother with dark green eyes.
"You look so much like your father." Spottedleaf whispered, her amber eyes bright with affection. Maplekit and Featherkit rolled over, yawning. The two she-kits stared at their mother with identical blue eyes. Featherkit was named after Featherwhisker, Spottedleaf's former mentor.
Firestar peeked in, his forest green eyes glowing in the darkness of the nursery.
"Firestar!" Featherkit and her sister squealed, leaping at the orange tom. Pinekit tipped his head, blinking at his father. A dark grey figure appeared behind the leader, and Cinderpelt emerged into the den, borage in her mouth. The young medicine cat had taken over when Spottedleaf moved to the nursery and only a few seasons after her mentor, Yellowfang, had died. Her blue eyes scorched the dappled queen, and she twitched her ears in disapproval.
"Here." The she-cat mumbled, and dropped the leaves, then turned and stalked out. Sandstorm waited for her, and gave a huff as Cinderpelt told her about the kits. The pale she-cat turned her light green gaze back to Firestar, her eyes full of sadness. Spottedleaf frowned heavily, not exactly liking the look Sandstorm gave Firestar.
"Err, Firestar, I think you need to speak to Sandstorm." The queen mewed, and blinked as Brightheart came in with Whitepaw following. Spottedleaf greeted her former denmate with a welcoming purr while her kits bounced up to Whitepaw.
"Morning, Spottedleaf." Brightheart mewed politely. "Whitepaw is just here to clean the nursery."
Whitepaw dipped her head, and scraped the moss into a bundle. Soon the nursery had new moss and some prey in it.
A concerned meow came from Firestar, and Spottedleaf saw him with Sandstorm outside the nursery. "Sandstorm? Are you okay?"
"No," the she-cat sighed.
"What's wrong?"
"I-I... Firestar, ever since I became a warrior, I felt something for you..."
"Oh?" The orange leader sounded surprised that one of his oldest friends had feelings for him.
"I'm sorry. I know you love Spottedleaf." Sandstorm murmured in guilt.
Spottedleaf felt sympathetic for the heartbroken she-cat.
"It's okay. You're still one of my closest friends." Firestar assured her.
Sandstorm's glad purr came in response.

That's what I think would happen if Spottedleaf survived. Sandstorm would still have feelings, but everything's cool. Anyways, next! Oh, and post a couple I should do. Also, I couldn't add the image, and I kept raging at my stupid computer. So, yeah.
