,,I'm not staying here for another scolding session." Iceberg thought, meanwhile listening to hissing and claw scratching sounds coming from the ice halls.
He turned to the morning sky, where the two moons still shined but the sun began taking over. It wasn't like him to run away from problems like that, but now he just couldn't get himself to stay still. He needed to see Hover.
An uncomfortable thought occured to his mind.
What if somebody follows him? He can't just fly straight to their hiding spot in the woods, that was stupid.
As he nervously tapped his claw on the ice floor, trying to think of a plan, a tall and buff guard marched into his room.
,,Freezing talons! I have to go!" Iceberg cursed in his mind and gave the guard a stabbing glare.
"The Queen demands your presence in the throne room prince Iceberg." he bowed.
It always annoyed the cold out of Iceberg, when dragons talked so formally to him and acted all perfect. Though he didn't mind the way other Icewings bowed to him since he worked hard to earn his place as higher ranked. The only thing that made sense in the Icewing royal family was that even royals could be lower in circles and overlooked. They had to earn their respect and place, just like everyone else did.
,,I- really can't go right now." Iceberg hesitated. The guard just furrowed his brow and waited.
,,I ate something that turned my stomach and-"
,,Prince Iceberg, we both know that is a lie. You go to the throne room right now, or I'll drag you there with my own claws."
The guard definitely looked older and stronger than Iceberg, not to mention his freezing stare and determined gaze.
Iceberg knew that fighting him would only lead to further consequences, but meeting his mother right now was the last thing he could stand right now.
As he stood silently, thinking of ways out of this, Iceberg could see how the guards tail lashed and how his talons shifted into a fighting position. Then Iceberg remembered something.
He had one way out of everything.
This guard was completely overlooking the fact that the dragon he was facing, was not only a royal in the peak of the first circle, but also an animus. He didn't even think about the possible things Iceberg could do to him with his magic, because everybody thought he basically couldn't. But as Iceberg found out only a day ago, he definitely could.
And he was about to do it.
,,Let the chest plate you are wearing make you go back to Queen North and tell her that I'm out on the hunt for breakfast and then, when nobody's around, heat up till it's nothing but pure lava and burn through your ribs."
,,And make sure you don't say anything else that what I told you to." he added in his mind.
Iceberg wasn't sure if the enchanting worked when he said it all only in his mind up until yesterday, but there was nothing to worry about.
The guard managed to make one last terrified face and then the magic took over his mind.
Nothing happened. Again.
Iceberg snorted in amusement.
Every dragon who tries to do something to him will face his fury from now on.
Did he do the right thing?
No.
But he had to, for Hovers and his own sake.
He took off of the ice ledge and flew to the Taiga forest as fast as he could.
