Through his life, Glitch had always denied who he truly was.
He knew that his sole reason for living was to fight and kill, but after being raised by the kind people of his world, he eventually tried to rid himself of this need.He confined himself to a small shack in the woods, where no one would find him, in order to protect the outside world from who he really was.But one day...That all changed with an invitation to a fighting tournament. He decided that it could be a great way of distracting himself, so he joined in with high expectations. The arena housed tons of fighters and the reward was unexplained...but this seemed right to him. After fighting in 10 rounds, each bringing on fighters closer and closer to his level, he came across someone who could finally overpower him.An offspring of demon and human, a wanderer from the remains of a shattered city, the rightful demon ruler. All these titles were only mear glimpses of who he really was.He eventually lost the battle, but gained something in return. For the price of lethality, the man had been disqualified from the fight, and Glitch had won the prize.A chance to fight the organizer of the event, Yang Xiao Long, had been known and attempted by him.Just barely getting the victory, Glitch had proven his worth and was allowed to go home knowing that he had more training to do.But the swordsman wasn't done fighting just yet, for he was tested by the man in the long coat, and his power had been unleashed. He met up with an old friend, fought an army, found love, and more importantly...He learned how to do the right thing. After flying through the portal with the intent of breaking it and whatever was allowing it to generate something that nearly formed a black hole, he was flung across time and space.A normal man would have died during the trip, but his entire soul screamed "No".A soft brush of clouds flew overhead, the green grass touched his neck, and overgrown vines had latched onto nearby broken buildings.Where was he? Will he ever return home? Is this what death felt like? All of these questions filled his head...before he got a rock dropped on his forehead.
"Hey, are you alive?"
"Would someone dead be able to speak?...also oww."
He sat up and brushed his hair to the side, noticing his arm had...gone back to normal? This new discovery caused him to freak out since Azmuth stated that his arm was the result of a DNA transmutation from a glitch within the Omnitrix. But apparently that dive into the portal had fixed it.
"Calm down, panic will only make your headache worse."
"What headach-"
A sudden sharp pain had filled his head. The pain forced his muscles to retract and hold his head while he held back the urge to scream in agonyBut just because he wasn't screaming on the outside, doesn't mean he wasn't screaming on the inside.AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHOOH GOD WHYJESUS HOW HARD DID I HIT MY HEAD?!WAIT WHO SPOKEQuickly turning to look at where the voice was coming from, he noticed a tiny cat standing next to an unconscious human. The man looked like he had been through a lot, but what was more surprising was the fact that the cat had...spoken.He looked at the cat with a face that only struck everything with a solemn expression. So much so that it had taken his mind off the headache, causing it's pain to numb for a little while.
"I'm sorry...was...was that you who spoke?"
"You've got a problem with that?"
"...surprisingly no"
"Good, now shut up and listen, because what I'm about to say next is probably going to save you some reading in the future."
The cat explained how he had been transported from a lightning strike in the sky and into the world the cat resided in.The cat also introduced itself as "Pardofelis", with the human out cold being "Tyler"And after some more explanation, Glitch had learned that there was more than one world to account for in this weird realm.
"Alright, now that you know the gist of where you are...could you please carry this guy for me?"
"Right, but where are we going?"
"We're going to a hideout that I've established, it's mostly just me living there but I'm happy to have you stay as well."
They traveled day and night, sharing stories of their home's and where they came from.
"So you fought a giant tree to stop it from eating everyone's blood?"
"Jackpot!"
"Eh I would have done the same."
"I don't think you COULD have done the same as what I did...especially as a...well...a cat."
Pardofelis stopped in their tracks.
"You think that just because I'm a cat, I can't take down a giant demon tree?"
"...can I take back what I said? Your tone tells me that I just screwed up."
"Well you're right about you screwing up!"
With a puff of smoke, Pardofelis had transformed into a woman.Sure some of the features of a cat were still apparent, but she made it clear that she could do it in her sleep.
"I've taken down bigger things in smaller forms then that, so don't go screwing around with things you don't understand yet!"
She slowly walked towards Glitch with a menacing aura following her every foot step.
"You've only seen the surface of what I'm capable of! And didn't your mother ever tell you not to judge a book by its cover?!"
Glitch stopped.
"With what I've been told, you seemed to have a life of luxury and paradise compared to what mine was!"
He remained silent.
"You don't know what it's like, to live on your own, to be seen as an outcast to everyone, to have to FIGHT for scraps just to barely scrape by in life!"
She slowly started to form tears in her eyes as she was yelling.
"YOU DON'T HAVE ANY CLUE ON HOW LONG I'VE BEEN ALONE FOR!"
"EVEN WHEN EVERYONE ELSE IS GONE, I'VE STILL BEEN STRUGGLING TO GET BY, AND NOW YOU TWO APPEARED TO TAKE WHAT I HAVE BARELY ANYTHING OF!"
"BUT I HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO SAY THIS ALL OUT LOUD BECAUSE YOU JUST GOT HERE, AND IT WOULD BE RUDE TO SAY "SCREW YOU AND SCREW OFF" FIVE SECONDS AFTER I'VE MET YOU!"
She started to hit Glitch with everything she had.Although strong at first, they soon devolved into strength as she started to cry more and more.
"You don't know what it's like...living every day like it's your last...struggling to survive in a world where others get to thrive..."
She was now resting her fists as she kneeled down, sobbing waterfalls from her eyes.
"where everyday...you get made fun of just for how you were born..."
There was no one liner for this situation, no jokes that he could make with the intention of not ruining the moment.Glitch had spent 98% of his life living in isolation from everyone out of fear that he would destroy the world if peer pressure got to him. This woman was breaking down, telling him her entire life story while balling her eyes out.So all Glitch could do in this situation was put down Tyler's body...and give her comfort. This surprised Pardofelis, the man that she had just yelled at and hit in anger was comforting her.She literally just gave him every reason to hate her, so why was he hugging her? What was it about Glitch that made him do this? Her sobbing slowly ceased as she hugged him back, tighter than he could have expected.but her crying was only interrupted by the wind...and the wind's howl was soon joined by his words of assurance.
"You're right...I have no clue about how bad your life has been."
"But your wrong about me living a life that I've wanted to live."
She had the expression of shock on her face as he said this.
"I was too strong...for everyone around me."
"whenever I would hug someone, I would end up breaking their ribcage."
"So out of fear for everyone else, I retreated into a life of isolation, not allowing anyone to know I even existed or still did for those who I had affected with my presence."
"I never wanted all this power, I never wanted what I have been given..."
He pulled away from the hug to look her in the eyes.Tears were streaming from his face, almost reflecting her face within the water streams.
"But how much I've suffered will never amount to how much you have faced alone."
"So you have every right to yell at me, you DESERVE to hit me and talk down on me for the life I never chose to live."
"As long as it helps you deal with your pain, then it's fine if I take all the hits for you...even if you're the one causing them in the first place."
In this moment, she realized just who Glitch was.He wasn't a brute, or some giant guy who wanted to cause everyone pain. But an overly emotional, understanding person, who just wanted to help everyone he met.
"You..."
She looked him dead in the eyes, almost staring into his soul. There was no soul to stare into, and yet...there was still something there.Lightning taking the form of a heart, spreading off into his body to create who he was.He stood up, grabbed Tyler's body again, and outstretched his hand towards Pardofelis.
"Come on, you still have to show me where to go so I can stop carrying him"
With a small chuckle, she grabbed his hand and was hoisted onto her feet. They continued to walk to the destination, but now they knew where they both came from. They both had to live in isolation, under different circumstances...but they were similar.By the time they made it to the hideout...Glitch had already decided what he was going to do in this new realm.
"Are you sure you don't want to stay?"
"Nah, if what you said is true, then you've already got enough on your hands as is."
He looked towards Tyler's unconscious body, seeing him wiggle and shake like he was about to wake up.
"I'm sure it's going to take some time, but I'll find your friends, and reunite you with who you're meant to be with."
"If you really are set on going...don't forget me, alright?"
"heh...as if."
He walked towards the door to the outside, turning back one last time with a determined smile on his face.
"Help him find his memories, and take care of each other alright?"
She gave him a small thumbs up as she poofed back into her feline form. And with one final look, he walked out the door, ready for the new adventure he had been set on!
