INTRO:
Mum! Dad! Bingo! Bluey!
EXT. CHLOE'S HOUSE- ENTRANCE
Bluey stood sheepishly at the front of Chloe's door, holding the broken rubber duck in her paws.
It was all a tragic accident. Chloe had loaned the ducky to Bluey, who gave it to Bingo, who made the wise decision to give it to Socks as a toy to play with. There was a reason Bluey hid all her toys when her cousins came over.
The now-shredded ducky had lost its squeak. The daintily painted yellow coating had been scratched, revealing its white undercoat. Its eyes had been peeled off as well.
Bluey was ashamed.
But Chloe, in her innocent nature, was unfazed when she opened the door to notice Bluey's somber face. "Hi, Bluey!" She chirped out, grinning widely. "Do you have my ducky to give back?"
Bluey had been preparing for this moment for the past few days, but it didn't make it feel ever so less daunting.
"Hi, Chloe." She mumbled under her breath, her ears drooping. Slowly, she lifted up the broken, shredded ducky and closed her eyes, not wanting to see the look of horror on Chloe's face. "This is your ducky, I think."

"How did it go?" Bingo had just come back from an impromptu bike session with the irls' dad. The first thing she noticed when she returned was Bluey plopped on the couch, tail up and face down.
Bluey muffled something.
"Wha?" Bingo took off her helmet and pulled at her sister's tail. "What did you say?"
"Yow!" Bluey shot up like a lightning bolt, rubbing her now-sore back end. "Bingo, I told you to stop doing that!"
"Sorry." Bingo grinned sheepishly.
Bluey just scowled back.
"I'll make it up to you, I promise!" Bingo bolted into the kitchen and returned with a pack of frozen edamame beans. She handed them over to her sister. "Here- put it on your bum! It will help!"
Bluey fiddled with the bag for a while, not listening to her sister. "Chloe doesn't like me anymore, Bingo. She was so angry about the ducky."
"Why?" Bingo chugged from a water bottle, regaining her hydration. "It was just a ducky."
"But it was her SPECIAL ducky!" Bluey threw her arms in the air. "Her nana gave it to her when she was a baby, and now it's ruined. Because of me."
"Well, actually, it's more because of Socks."
Bluey shot her sister a look. Bingo got the message and immediately ran upstairs.
Bluey watched her younger sister leave and immediately flopped on the couch again. But not long after, she heard a voice calling out to her:
"Bluey! Where are you- we need to have a chat!"
"Mum?" Bluey's eyes widened in disbelief. There was no way Chloe's parents told her mum about the situation. Surely, she wasn't that upset. She couldn't have.
Or could she?
Bluey's suspicions were confirmed as she noticed Chilli sitting on her bed, waiting for her. Her face resembled a mixture of disappointment and a gentle peace.
"Chloe's mum told me what happened." Chilli began.
Bluey hung her head low. "I'm sorry, Mum."
Chilli's face softened, and she let out a small smile. "I'm not mad at you, honey. It was just an accident, but we need to be careful about what we do with our belongings, especially those that belong to others."
Bluey nodded, taking in her mother's advice.
"And, you know." She continued. "It's never too late to fix your mistakes. Maybe we could try to fix the ducky? Or get Chloe a new one!"
Bluey kicked her feet along the hardwood floor, still a bit apprehensive. Just then, she noticed something under her bed- a small picture book. Bluey's curiosity took over, and she fished the book from its hiding spot.
"Bluey?" Chilli raised an eyebrow. "What are you-"
"A library book!" Bluey raised the mysterious book in the air. It seemed to be yellow, but with all the dust lingering on it, it was hard to tell what its true color was. Bluey could only make out a few words on the cover: "I CAN BUS?"
Chilli's expression darkened, and she gave out a nervous smile. "Now, Bluey, that's just an old book. Nothing to worry about."
But Bluey dusted the book off, ignoring her mother's advice. "I Can Draw Buses?" She turned to her mother, her face showing signs of confusion. "We never checked this book out before. Have we?"
"Well, it wasn't necessarily Bingo or you that checked it out." Chilli glanced the other way.
"Dad?"
Chilli shook her head, not wanting to press the blame on her husband.
"Muffin? Auntie Frisky?" Bluey's eyes widened in realization. "You?"
Chilli gave a sheepish grin. "I used to be VERY interested in buses as a kid."
"Did the library give this book to you? Why is it still in our house? And why is it under our bed?" Bluey was filled with questions. When Chilli didn't answer any of them, instead developing a deep interest in the peeling paint on the walls, another revelation came into the young Blue Heeler's brain. "Is this book... overdue?"
Chilli managed to nod.
"H-how long?"
"Only a... a few decades?"
Chilli stood sheepishly at the front of the library's door, holding the overdue library book in her paws.
Bluey looked up at her mother and smiled. For once, she was the one giving advice to Chilli rather than vice-versa. "Don't worry, Mum." She comforted. "You're going to be just fine."
Chilli looked at her daughter, a mix of comfort and nervousness in her eyes. "I've always hated coming, here, you know. Because of this whole situation." She clutched the book a little tighter and blushed.
"It's just like you said," Bluey continued. "It's never too late to fix your mistakes. Just like Bingo made it up with the beans and I'm making it up with the ducky."
Chilli managed to crack a small, grateful smile. "I raised you well, Bluey Christine Heeler. I raised you well."
After an encounter with a very surprised librarian, an overdue fine finally being paid off, and a check-out of a new book on how to repair broken toys (which Bluey vowed not to keep for three decades,) the next stop on the agenda was Chloe's house.
Bluey held the book in her paws, holding her breath as Chilli rang the doorbell. A few moments passed by, and the door was answered by Frank, Chloe's dad.
"Chilli! Bluey!" His eyes widened in shock. "Chloe's in her room- I mean, what are you two doing here?"
"We've come to fix a mistake." Chilli ushered her daughter inside. "Go on, Bluey."
Bluey took a deep breath and started her way upstairs towards her best friend's room. The room seemed silent, her paws emitting clacking noises from the contact they made with the steps. "Umm... Chloe?" She called out.
She heard a few pillows rustling, but no Chloe.
"I'm sorry, Chloe, I really am." Bluey twiddled with her fingers. "We can try to fix your ducky together, I promise."
Chloe peeked an eye out from the little hole in her room door. "Promise..?" Her voice was shaky. Bluey could tell she had shed at least a few tears.
"I promise." Bluey smiled.
And as Chloe slowly came out of her hiding place to face the Blue Heeler, Bluey realized that she had, at least partially, fixed a mistake.
