A lesson from class
It wasn't directed at just me
But I froze up, fast.
I could tell the truth
Tell the way pain pulls me in
Or I could stay silent
Let my demons win
Why do you write?
You don't want to know.
At least that's what I'll tell myself
So I don't feel bad when you go

I softly mutter
No one heard a sound
Is that really good? I wonder

My teacher wants to know
It's the only escape I have

I can't say it out loud
As I hesitate,
I see her start to frown
