Outfit for this chapter:
Rapunzel was once again woken up by someone, and once again it was Damon, pestering her to join her for something. But when he told her what, she understood why, and agreed not to go to school. This meant she'd have to cancel on Teddy.
From Rapunzel
Apologies, but I won't be attending school today. My friend isn't feeling the best and I need to help her.
From Teddy
Np, hope ur friends ok.
Cya Monday :)
Rapunzel was confused on the message, but decided to question it at a later date, as she currently needed to get ready to stay with Elena for the day. So, she got dressed, and packed a bag for Wasabi. It had been a long time since she spent the day with him, and she wasn't losing this opportunity. So, she put his harness on, and carried him in her arms. Damon gave her a judging look, but she ignored it, as Wasabi comfortably layed still as she carried him, purring into her shoulder.
First of all though, they had to to to the tomb to talk to Stefan, and when they arrived, he was at the entrance, Katherine no where to be seen. Damon proceeded to tell Stefan about his plan with Elena.
"You trapped her in the house?" Stefan asked clearly shocked at what lengths Damon had to take to ensure Elena doesn't try and get herself killed. Damon was standing just outside the entrance, while Rapunzel sat down, back to the wall, and was just petting Wasabi as he lay nicely on her lap, still listening to the conversation.
"It's for the best. Trust me. Elena is on a martyr tear that rivals your greatest hits. You should be glad the witch and I are even getting along," Damon reassured his brother, before holding up the black bag Damon brought, "I brought you this. Care package: candles, lanterns and," Damon put the bag on the ground as he digged in his pocket, bringing out a blood-filled bottle "lunch."
Damon held the bottle out for Stefan but he didn't accept it, "Give that to me and I'm just gonna have to share it with her." Stefan gestured with his head slightly to the back of the tomb, where Katherine appeared round the corner, leaning against the wall.
"Yeah," Damon realised, annoyed. Rapunzel frowned, not understanding why Stefan couldn't just share, it wouldn't be so bad, Katherine would eventually be let out of the tomb anyway if they wanted to free Stefan, so what's the harm?
"You two are surprisingly calm, considering Klaus will hunt you down and kill you if you mess with his little plan," Katherine remarked, clearly not having noticed the blonde playing with her cat on the floor.
"I've been dead before, I got over it," Damon stated, making Rapunzel want to roll her eyes at his arrogance, "Once we deal with this moonstone, we'll figure a way to get you out."
"Ah, don't worry about me. Just make sure Elena's safe," Stefan told the two, as Rapunzel stood up, letting Wasabi walk on his own as she had attached a leash to his harness. Then, Rapunzel brought Stefan into a hug, whispering in his ear, "Stay safe", before Damon and Rapunzel left with the bottle of blood and the cat trailing behind them, looking as if he'd rather be carried.

Rapunzel and Damon entered the Gilbert house, the blonde now carrying the cat as halfway there, Wasabi decided he didn't want to walk anymore and refused to move. The duo (+cat) entered the living room, seeing Elena sulking on the sofa. The brunette looked towards their direction as Damon made himself known by telling Elena, "You should really lock your door," as the two had just entered.
There was a beat of silence as Damon leant against the wall, looking at Elena, Rapunzel standing by his side as she stroked Wasabi's head, who leaned up into her hand demanding more strokes.
"Oh, come on, pouty. At least give me two points for ingenuity," Damon remarked. Rapunzel nudged his side with her elbow, hard, before she went to sit next to Elena on the sofa, giving her a sympathetic smile.
"Do you think this is funny?" Elena asked, the anger coming across in her tone, as she crossed her arms.
"Yes, Elena. I find hilarity in the lengths that I have to go to repeatedly save your life," Damon stated, which Rapunzel felt was unneeded, as Wasbai dug his claws into her top to try gain her attention back.
"What does Stefan have to say about this?" Elena asked after scoffing, which prompted Damon to shrug before replying.
"We had a good laugh."
"And what did he say about Elijah still being alive?"
Damon entered the room, sitting on the other side of Elena on the sofa, putting his arm around her as he informed the doppelgänger, "Yeah, about that... I didn't tell him."
"Why not?" Both Elena and Rapunzel asked at the same time, Elena with annoyance and Rapunzel with curiosity, assuming Stefan already knew Elijah was alive.
"Well, A, he can't do anything about it," Damon explained, "And B, what I just said. Where's Bonnie?"
Jeremy then entered the room, answering Damon's question, "I thought she was meeting you."
"No, she's on moonstone duty," Damon told the boy, "Me and Rapunzel are on Elena patrol."
"Rapunzel and I," Rapunzel corrected under her breath, causing b9th Gilberts to smirk and Damon to roll his eyes.
"And who's on Tyler Lockwood and the full moon?" Jeremy asked. Rapunzel frowned at the reminder. She wanted to go help him, but Damon wanted her help and when she called Tyler, he said he didn't need her there and that Caroline was helping him instead.
"Vampire Barbie asked me if she could handle it, and I said why not? Figured if she screwed up, he'll bite her and then I'll be rid of two of my problems," Damon spoke, ignoring the look of shock and confusion on Elena's face, aswell as the glare he was receiving from Rapunzel.
"Hold on a second. Tonight's a full moon?" Elena questioned, not realising it before.
"Yep, but you were too absorbed in your suicidal tendencies to notice," Damon stated, before his phone rang, prompting him to get up, exit the room and answer it.
Damon soon poked his head back in the room, hanging up the phone, seeing Rapunzel sat next to Elena, leaning her head on the doppelgänger's shoulder as they both fussed over Wasabi who looked very much at peace.
"Change of plans. You babysit," Damon told them, gesturing to both Jeremy and Rapunzel. Jeremy sat on the sofa where Damon was sat, laying down and putting his head on his sister's lap.
"Hey, you know, you should get out, enjoy the sun. Oh wait, you can't," Damon messed with the brunette. She promptly threw a cushion at him as he left, making Jeremy laugh. Elena then pushed her brother off onto the floor.
Elena and Rapunzel shared a look before both bursting out with laughter despite the situation, shocking Wasabi who no longer looked happy as the girl's had stopped stroking him.

Rapunzel decided that she wouldn't let Elena just mope all day, so she decided to force Elena to help her bake some basic cookies, which Elena then decided to add tons of spinkles to them. They were having fun, as Wasabi slept on Elena's sofa. But then, once they finished Elena tried to go outside to show Rapunzel the flowers in the garden, so she went upstairs, leaving Rapunzel downstairs.
She was upset, until she realised that the school day should've ended, so she just sat on the sofa texting Teddy, who was complaining about how Rapuznel wasn't in today. Rapunzel wouldn't stop smiling, Teddy was a great friend, and had actually spoken to her in a conversation that didn't include asking her for something or complaining about something supernatural. It was great.
It got late, and soon Jenna came back asking for Rapunzel's help in getting her sister's old files from the Historical Society out to a man who was supposedly writing a book about small towns in Virginia. There was two boxes, and Rapunzel managed to pick one up (with great difficulty) only for Wasabi to jump on top of it. The two girls laughed in amusement, but the box was too heavy to lift, so Rapunzel had to put it down.
"Where is this writer we are helping?" Rapunzel asked the strawberry blonde, turning around to look for him, only to see Elijah standing there, smiling slightly at the blonde. Her heart was pumping so fast she felt like it was going to burst out of her chest.
"Hello, I'm Elijah," the man greeted her as if they didn't know eachother.
"Rapunzel," the blonde held out a hand to shake, being polite, but the man kissed her hand instead. He seemed to have no malicious intentions so Rapunzel calmed down slightly, but she did pick up Wasabi again, unwilling to let him go.
Jenna opened the cupboard, trying to get the other box, and Elijah was once again hidden behind the door. It just so happened that at that moment Elena came down the stairs asking her aunt, "Hey, what are you doing?"
"Oh, perfect timing," Jenna thanked, shoving another box into Elena's hands. There was definitely more than two, which they thought was going to be the maximum.
"What is this stuff?" Elena asked, balancing the box in her hands, trying to stabilise herself.
"Your mom's files from the Historical Society. I got roped into helping by Mrs Lockwood and by roped I mean very excited to participate."
Then she closed the closet door, revealing Elijah. Rapunzel held onto Wasabi a bit tighter once again as Elena looked startled and afraid, as she gasped, dropping a few things out if the box accidentally.
"Hey. I'm Elijah," the man greeted once again, smiling as if he wasn't a vampire who tried to take Elena and Rapunzel the other day, and didn't kill three vampires yesterday as they tried to take Elena to Klaus.
"Elijah's in town doing research on Mystic Falls," Jenna explained, taking the box from Elena to put near the others.
"It's a pleasure," Elijah shook hands with Elena, now closer to the doppelgänger, making her nervous.
"So you're welcome to stay here and rummage through this stuff or Rapunzel, Elena and I could help you load it into your car," Jenna offered, showing her kindness and obliviousness. The strawberry blonde went to stand next to elena who hadn't broken eye contact with the Original yet.
"Or I can get someone to pick it up tomorrow."
"Also a good plan," Jenna crossed her arms, as Rapunzel smiled at the relief on Jenna's face. Those boxes were heavier than they looked.
"Thank you so much for inviting me into your home, Jenna," he thanked as Jenna began to lead him out, but he stopped and turned around to face the girl's in the know as he said "And Elena, I hope to see you again sometime soon. You too Rapunzel."
As soon as he left and the door shut, Elena grabbed Rapunzel's hand, dragging her up the stairs towards Jeremy's door, where the doppelgänger knocked, panicked. Elena put her hand on the door handle, preparing the enter, but Elijah appeared, putting his hand on hers, stopping them from going inside.
When Jeremy opened the door, Elijah hid behind the doorframe, and Elena was prompted to lie saying Jenna asked for his help with the boxes. When her brother went downstairs, Elena turned to Elijah who invited the two for a chat.
The trio entered Elena's room
"Forgive the intrusion. I mean your family no harm," Elijah claimed. He was scanning the room, observing all the decorations and things Elena owned. Rapunzel was sitting on Elena's bed, with Wasabi in her lap, as she stroked him trying to calm herself. She couldn't be afraid of everything supernatural.
"Why did you kill those vampires when they tried to take me?" Elena asked.
"Because I didn't want you to be taken," Elijah stated, confusing both girls, as he sat on the windowsill "Klaus is the most feared and hated of the Originals, but those that fear him are desperate for his approval. If word gets out that the doppelgänger exists, there'll be a line of vampires eager to take you to him and I can't have that."
"Is that not what you are trying to do?" Rapunzel questioned, joining in the conversation. Elijah looked at her with a smile. For some reason, he was rather fond of the blonde girl, and felt as though he needed to protect her, as if she was or is going to be important.
"Let's just say that my goal is not to break the curse."
"So, what is your goal?" Elena joined back into the conversation, still wary of the Original, and aware that she was defenceless against him.
"Klaus' obsession has made him paranoid. He's a recluse. He trusts only those in his immediate circle." Elijah stated, although Rapunzel didn't understand what that had to do with the question.
"Like you?" Elena asked, and Rapunzel sat up straight, wanting to hear his answer.
"Not anymore." For one reason or another, Elijah looked very reflective and guilty when he said that.
"You don't know where he is, do you? So you're trying to use me to draw him out." Elena realised, shocking both girls.
"Well, to do that I need you to stay put and stop trying to get yourself killed," Elijah claimed, making Rapunzel smile a little in amusement at the blunt way the vampire said that, and Elijah smirked.
"How do I know you're telling the truth?" Elena asked fairly.
"If I wasn't being truthful, all your family and Rapunzel here would be dead and I'd be taking you to Klaus right now. Instead, I'm here and I'm prepared to offer you a deal," Elijah claimed. Rapunzel paled slightly at the mention of her name, but after he said it, Elijah gave her a comforting look reassuring her that he wouldn't actually kill the blonde.
"What kind of a deal?" Elena asked.
"Do nothing. Do nothing, live your life, stop fighting and then, when the time is right, we shall draw out Klaus together and I shall make sure your friends remain unharmed," as he said this, Elijah stood up, and went towards the bed, where he sat down near Rapunzel. It was a good deal in both Elena and Rapunzel's opinion. Except the fact that Rapunzel noticed that he never said he would make sure Elena wouldn't die.
"And then what?" Elena verified
"Then I kill him." Elijah put it so matter-of-factly that it shocked Rapunzel. Clearly Elijah must've known this Klaus person well to know about his desire to break the curse, and yet he talked so flippitantly about his death, he may as well be discussing the weather. Clearly there was some history between the two.
"Just like that?" Elena asked for confirmation, which Elijah provided.
"Just like that. I'm a man of my word, Elena. I make a deal, I keep a deal," Elijah claimed. Rapunzel had no doubt that he was an honourable man. She trusted him, but she wasn't the one putting her life in his hands.
"How are you gonna be able to keep everybody safe?" Elena questioned reasonably.
"I notice you have a friend; Bonnie, is it? She seems to possess the gift of magic. I have friends with similar gifts," Elijah spoke, as he stroked Wasabi who had clawed at his hand, wanting more attention.
"You know witches," Rapunzel realised, watching over Wasabi protectively as Elijah still stroked him.
"Together, we can protect everybody that matters to you. So, do we have a deal?"
"I need you to do one more thing for me," Elena stated. Rapunzel furrowed her eyebrows wondering what it was.

Rapunzel went home soon after that, tired and wanting to go see Damon and Stefan again, as Elena's condition was to let Stefan out of the tomb. However, Stefan hadn't got there yet, as he probably went to stay with Elena, and Rapunzel could hear Damon was with Rose, who she was still terrified of, so instead Rapunzel went straight up to her room.
She put Wasabi down, taking off his harness as he trotted off to his cat bed. Rapunzel turned around to put the lead on her side, and when she turned back around Elijah was sat on her bed looking through her sketchbook. Rapunzel's breathe caught in her throat.
"You are a very talented artist," he complimented, flipping through the book, "I particularly like this one," Elijah turned the book around to show the one of him that Rapunzel drew.
"Apologies if you find it offensive, but what are you doing in my room?" Rapunzel asked, taking a deep breathe to psych herself up. The Original smiled, closing her sketchbook and placing it on her bedside table, before standing up to face the blonde.
"Your fascinating. You confuse me," Elijah claimed, "You speak with politeness that no one of this century contains. Your not a vampire as your heart still beats. You have no vervain on you, and yet I would bet that if I were to try compel you, it wouldn't effect you. So, tell me one thing, who are you?"
Rapunzel thought it through in her head and decided that yes, she trusted Elijah. So she took a deep breathe, steadying herself.
"My name is Rapunzel. I am 218 years old. I am a half faerie, half golem, and I was locked away in a tower for most of my life by someone who claimed to want to protect me, but in reality she killed my parents and kept me locked away to use my powers for herself."
Elijah didn't know what to say. He didn't know what to adress first.
"Why did you want to take me?" Rapunzel asked after the Original didn't speak, "When you met me. You wanted to take me alongside Elena."
"Truthfully, I don't know. You intrigued me, yes, but I also feel the need to protect you. I feel as though you may become important in the near future," the Originals told her, before he sped out of the room, not allowing her to say anything more.
