Today when I woke up I checked my point balance to still only show 20 thousand points.( He bought clothes and tried new things without spending much ) I asked Satou if she got any, she didn't get any either. We asked some people from our class to find out nobody got any. I got ready and went to class. The classroom was gloomy and nobody was talking. Most just waited for our teacher to come while checking their phones every once in a while. Koenji didn't seem too shocked and even had a slight grin on his face. The system is clearly not as simple as it seemed. I believe maybe our behavior in class or maybe the test we took yesterday, is what made us get no points.
Flashback
Sae sense : Good morning class, today our lesson is going to be a little more serious we are going to have a test but don't worry it won't have anything to do to your grades.
A test huh, I wonder what should I get, my class mates are complaining about having to do a test, but sensei shut them up.
Once the test started, I looked through the questions. 20 questions, 4 per section, and 5 points per question for a total of a 100 points. However, the questions were extraordinarily easily, and so it felt anticlimactic.
The questions on this test are about 2 levels below the entrance exam questions. Everything here is too simple.
I should just get full marks as most elites should be getting high marks, it would also help me get more respect as a kid in high school.
Flashback end
The morning bell for the first school day of May rang. Soon after, Chiyabashira-sensei walked in, holding a poster rolled into a tube. Her face is always grim and serious.
Ike : Sensei, are you in menopause?
Menopause, huh it's related to someone having a period 12 months when they have changes in their cycle. I thought Ike was too dumb to know something like that.
Sae sensei : Alright, morning homeroom is starting. Are there any questions before we start? If there's something on your mind, feel free to speak up.
Chiyabashira-sensei completely ignored Ike and continued to talk. She talked as if she was completely convinced that the students had something to ask. Immediately, several people raised their hands.
Hondou : Um, I checked my point balance this morning, and no points were deposited. Weren't they supposed to be provided on the first day of the month, every month? I was impatient because I couldn't buy the juice I wanted.
Hondou, I explained it before, didn't I? Points are wired to student's accounts on the first day of the month, every month. They were wired without any problems this month as well.
Yamauchi : Uh, but... I didn't get any points.
Sae sensei : Are you guys really that stupid.
Hondo : Stupid? What?
Sae sensei : Sit, Hondou. I'll explain it again.
Hondo : S-Sae-chan sensei?
He looked shocked that our teacher would be so harsh to him. Maybe he thought he would have a chance, he should have had lower standards.
Sae sensei : Points were deposited. Without fail. The likelihood that this class was left out is very low. Do you understand?
Hondo : No, even if I say I do understand, we haven't received our points.
He didn't look happy with the explanation, even as a kid i understand that he should just stop talking at this point, though he was talking to defend his pride and not because he wanted the points at this point. However, if we say that Chiyabashira-sensei is telling the truth, Isn't there some kind of contradiction? Does that mean zero points have been deposited? I had a faint doubt, but my suspicions were raised
koenji : Hahaha, I see, it was like that, teacher. I've understood this riddle now.
Koenji said in a loud voice while laughing. Putting his feet on the table, he pointed at Hondou with his self-important attitude.
koenji : We didn't receive any points because we're in class D.
Hondo :Hah? What's that supposed to mean.
koenji : I don't remember hearing that. Right?
It seems that my suspicions, were right. This could mean that koenji is better than everyone in this class except myself based only on the fact that we had doubts about the s-system.
Sae sensei : Your attitude has some problems, but what Koenji is saying is on the right track. Not many people seem to have noticed my hint. How sad.
the class suddenly became very loud, it seemed it hurt their pride knowing someone like koenji figured something out before them.
Hirata : Sensei, can I ask a question? I still don't understand.
Hirata raised his hand. Rather than being concerned about his own points, it looks like he's asking to help the worried students in the room. As expected of the class leader. He's taking the initiative again.
Hirata : Please tell me why we didn't get any points. If that's not possible, we can never understand.
Sae sensei : 98 total absences and tardies. 391 incidences of talking or using cell phones in class. I counted every infraction. In this school, your class performance is reflected in the amount points received. As a result your behavior, the 100,000 points you could've gotten went down the drain. That's all that happened. I explained this all on the day of the entrance ceremony. That this school measures the abilities of its students. This time around, you guys were valued to be worth 0. There's nothing more than that.
We as a class didn't do the best, but saying the way she said it could be considered a bit harsh, even if we did lose all the points other students like Yukimura and Horikita would take great offence to it, i as a competitive child who just got out the whiteroom felt displeased but there is nothing to do right now. Hirata and Chiyabashira-sensei were still talking, i did tune out their conversation for a while as most kids at the age of nine only has the a very short patience. Our class D with 0. Class C with 490. Class B with 650. And class A had the highest number with 940. I guess 1000 points would mean 100,000 yen? All the classes lost points in some way.
random :Hey, don't you think this is strange?
random : Yea... the numbers are too clean.
Sae sensei : For the first month, all of you have been doing as you please. Now, the school's not saying that this is prohibited. Your actions, such as talking during class and being late to class, just affects the number of points you get. It's the same with how you use points. You have the freedom to use points how you want. We haven't restricted how you use your points.
Ike : This isn't fair! We can't lead a normal school life like that.
Its seems that Ike couldn't understand that his actions has also led to this.
Sae sensei : Look carefully, you stupid kids. Every other class except class D got some points. The amount of points you guys have should still be plenty enough to last for a month.
Sae sensei : In this school, all the students are divided into classes by merit. The best students are put in class A. The worst in class D. Well, it's a system that's found in major cram schools. In other words, class D is the collection of leftovers. That also means that you are the worst students, the defective products of this school. This is really an outcome worthy of defective students.
I tuned out our class complaining but only listened to what sensei had to say. some more people were shocked and Sudou even kicked his desk.
Sae sensei All right, I have one more piece of bad news I have to tell you guys.
Sae sensei : From looking at these numbers, I came to understand that there are a lot of idiots in this class.
Sae sensei : These are the scores from the test a few days back. Sensei was glad after seeing your wonderful performance. Seriously, what the hell did you guys study in middle school?
I wanted to say i am not old enough to go to middle school but i decided to keep my mouth shut as it was pointless, it seems that our class didn't have very good results with the explanation earlier i believe that they choose really stupid people to be put in this class by not accepting others who had better scores to be defects though it is nothing more than hoping for a better Japan as with these as our elites i fear for the future.
Sae sense : If this test was actually recorded, seven of you would already have to drop out of school. Good thing it wasn't, right?
Ike : D-drop out? What do you mean?
Sae sensei : Why, did I not explain? If you get a failing mark on either a midterm or a final thexam in any subject, you have to drop out of school. On this test, that would be everyone who got below a 32. Man, you guys are really foolish and stupid.
The people who failed looked shocked all seven made small noises of despair.
Ike : Don't fuck with me Sae-chan-sensei! Don't joke about dropping out of school!
Sae sensei : I'm also at a loss for words. It's the school's rules, so prepare for the worst. Also i just wanted you guys to know not a single person got better than an child, someone who is too young to even be in middle school. It looks like you elites are worse than an actual kid, it really makes me fear for the future of Japan.
The class was so shocked that i got better than all of then they looked like they are questioning their whole life decisions except Koenji who just laughed silently and looked into his mirror saying something about not better than my perfect existence.
Ike : No way that kid is smarter than me .
Yamauchi : They must have lied to give us motivation.
Yukimura : How can i be beaten by a kid in academics.
Satou : I didn't expect him to be so smart.
Sae sensei : Oh, and one more thing. This school, which is under the control of the country, boasts a high percentage of alumni going to higher education and a high employment rate. That's a well-known fact. Most likely, many people in this class will go on to college or find work at a company.
Hirata : in other words, in order to make our dreams of getting a job or getting into college a reality, surpassing class C is probably a minimum.
He wants what's best for the class by trying to bring their hopes up but it won't be effective as it may even lower our class morality.
Sae sensei : That's also slightly incorrect, Hirata. There's no way to achieve your dreams except for surpassing class A. The school doesn't guarantee anything for all the other students.
Yukimura : T-that's... that's something I never heard about! This is absurd!
Koenji looked like he was going to say something so i jumped in the conversation by saying.
Ayanokouji : Wait, before we fight over how we will get out of this situation we should first calm down so we have a clear mind.
The class looked broken out of their trance, most looked ready to shout again but calmed down except.
Ike : Shut up, little genius can't you see the issue we're in.
Yamauchi : Yeah This could be a big problem for me. How could i buy my adult magazines
Sudou : I have basketball meeting I am leaving.
Most girls are glaring at them but they didn't seem to have noticed.
Sae sensei : Looks like your happy mood has been dampened. If you guys understood the harsh environment you were put in from the start, we wouldn't have need this long homeroom. The midterm is in three weeks, so please avoid getting kicked out of school. I'm sure everyone here can survive without getting any red marks. If possible, please challenge your situation with a behavior appropriate for a capable person.
Most students then remembered the situation they're in and looked down, Sudou and a few others hung their heads low knowing that they could be kicked out of their dream school.
A battle for the top huh, it sounds interesting .
I felt a rush of adrenaline when I thought about it, it looks like i am truly excited for the battle for the top.
