KreekCraft's POV
As a Doctor, I'd had to face many challenges, but I would say one of the hardest challenges for me is having to tell a patient's loved-ones that the person they love and care for has a life-threatening illness. Having been a Doctor for almost five years, you'd think I would have become accustomed to it by now. Well, no. And I don't think I ever will become accustomed to it. It's always going to be painful having to give patients and their loved-ones bad news that might arise. It'll never be easy. I guess it's just one of those cons that come with being a Doctor.
I stroked and patted Adam's back as he cried, his tears falling relentlessly from his eyes down to his face. We were now in one of the hospital rooms, where his fiancé, Justin, remained unconscious in a hospital bed. I couldn't help but feel an overwhelming sadness and sympathy for the blond-haired, blue-eyed guy as I watched him approch his lover, while continuing to cry. I had to look away. I could feel a lump slowly forming in my throat and I knew I would start crying along with Adam any minute now. And I did.
"Justin will get through this, Adam," I said, not looking up so Adam wouldn't see I had started crying, too.
"I know," Adam agreed, taking his fiancé's limp hand in his and giving it a gentle squeeze, "it's just... I still can't accept the fact that he has cancer. And I... I don't want to accept it."
"I understand where you're coming from, Adam. But as I said, I'm gonna make sure he recovers. Good thing I was able to diagnose him just in time. He's going to make it. I promise you, he will, Adam."
"Thanks, Kreek. We'll fight this battle with him. Justin and I have been through a lot. We've come so far, and we're not gonna give up now."
Tristan Tales' POV
A few hours had gone by since Adam and KreekCraft rushed Justin to the hospital after he fainted unexpectedly. We were still at the place where their Meet And Greet was held earlier, trying to comfort their worried fans to the best of our abilities, but failing to do so miserably. Not a single one of them could be consoled. It was heartbreaking for me and DJ to see.
A minute later, I heard a notification sound coming from my phone, while DJ's phone pinged right after. We both pulled out our phones from our trouser-pockets and we gasped in unison upon reading the messages displayed on our screens. The two of us had been sent the same message by the same person. Adam.
"Wait, Justin has cancer?" DJ whispered so Adam and Justin's fans wouldn't hear. I shook my head, not wanting to believe the news we had just been given.
"No," I responded to DJ, "no, there's no way, DJ."
"What's going on?" asked one of Adam and Justin's fans. I had to make up an answer and I had to do it fast. I cleared my throat.
"Oh, um, nothing," I lied, twisting my lips into a smile, "DJ just told me he was planning on watching a movie with me, but it turns out it's not even out yet."
"Yeah," DJ joined in, immediately understanding why I said what I said, "sucks for us, but we can just watch another movie. Right, Tristan?"
"Yeah."
thirty more minutes went by. Then, Adam, KreekCraft, and Justin emerged from a taxi. Adam held one of Justin's hands, while KreekCraft held the other, the two of them carefully and lovingly assisting the purple-haired guy with every step he took. As soon as the LankyFam saw them, they didn't have to be asked even once. They all rushed over to Justin, greeting him with hugs and concerned questions. In return, Justin gave them a sweet smile, while offering words of comfort.
"I'm okay," he told them with sincerity in his voice, "yeah, I am sick, but I'm going to keep fighting. For all of you." He paused briefly. Then, turning to Adam, he added: "Especially for you, Adam. We still have our wedding to look forward to." The LankyFam went crazy upon hearing that.
"You guys are getting married?" they all screamed, excitedly. The couple nodded.
"We are, indeed," Adam replied, putting an arm around his fiancé, "but not yet. We need to focus on Justie's health first. It'll all be alright."
Justin's POV
Knowing I had stage 1 Leukemia was a stab to the heart. However, having to explain this to our fans felt like my heart was being cut into millions of pieces with a thousand knives. That definitely hurt me more than the fact that I could either survive this illness, or I could succumb to it and take my final breaths in Adam's arms. No! I wouldn't want that! I wasn't ready to leave Adam and our fans so soon! I'd rather keep fighting and avoid the latter outcome altogether!
Soon, Adam, DJ, Tristan, KreekCraft, and I started heading home. On our way out of the building, where Adam and I hosted our Meet And Greet, one of our fans came over to us. And what this fan said had me crying my eyes out, giving me more motivation to fight my illness.
"Adam, Justin, my name is Glenn. I would just like to say thank you so much for doing this Meet And Greet for us fans. It really means a lot, especially to me. You see, I have been diagnosed with Leukemia, too. it was a couple of months before you guys announced you were gonna host your first Meet And Greet ever. I was so happy! I told my parents that if I were to die, my dying wish would be to meet you guys. Now that my wish had been granted, I can die a happy dude. I love you both so much! Justin, keep fighting for me, okay?"
Adam and I exchanged glances. When our eyes were averted back to Glenn, we were both crying.
"Glenn, darling, we love you, too," Adam said, "Justin will keep fighting for you, but you need to promise that you will do the same for him. For us. Can you do that?" Glenn smiled as he gave Adam a nod.
"Sure! Anything for my heroes! See you guys again soon!"
My battle with Leukemia wasn't easy. It became more of a struggle once KreekCraft started the necessary treatments, particularly Chemo Therapy, which weakened me. Sometimes, I would be so ill with the side effects of my Chemo sessions that Adam and I wouldn't be able to upload even just one video on our YouTube channel, which caused the LankyFam to worry. Fortunately, though, they were very understanding of my situation. Bro! How did we get so lucky to have such loving fans?
Adam's POV
A few months into Justin's battle with cancer, things got tougher. My heart broke as I watched Justin grow weaker after every Chemo session he underwent. His appetite was soon afected. The Kemo was making him so sick that KreekCraft decided he would be a stay-in Doctor at our house to make sure Justin was well looked after. It was a relief to know his boss gave him permision to do this.
I sat on the couch with Justin lying in my arms after another round of Chemo Therapy. Despite not feeling his best, he suggested we watched a movie, letting me pick it.
"The Fault In Our Stars?" I asked, kissing his beautiful lips. He shook his head.
"Not really in the mood for that movie right now, Adam. You pick whatever movie you want. I'll watch it with you. I'm gonna go take a shower first, though."
"Okay, Buttercup. Be careful, alright? Call me and KreekCraft if you get hit by a sudden wave of dizziness, or if you start to feel sick.
"Will do."
Justin was soon in the shower. A few seconds was all that passed by before KreekCraft and I heard a blood-curdling scream coming from the bathroom.
"Justin?" KreekCraft gasped, getting up from a chair he was sitting on and sprinting into the bathroom. I quickly followed behind him. We found Justin on the floor, crying.
"Buttercup!" I exclaimed, rushing over to his side: "Buttercup! Hey! Are you okay? What's up? Why are you crying?"
"My... my hair!" my fiancé sobbed: "My hair! I'm... I'm losing them!" I watched as pieces of Justin's beautiful, purple hair fell and were scattered on the bathroom floor.
"It'll grow back, bro," KreekCraft explained in the most soothing voice he could muster, "it's the Chemo Therapy doing its job to heal you." Justin carried on crying. His hair meant a lot to him and while I understood why he was so upset, there was nothing much I could do. Wait, maybe there was!
Justin's POV
I know hair-loss is one of the side effects that comes with undergoing Chemo Therapy, but when it happened to me, it took me a while to get used to it. As time passed by, I was so used to having little to no hair left on my head that I'd stopped paying attention to it. It was the least of my worries.
Adam walked into my room one day, smiling sweetly at me as he presented his almost bald head. A tear fell from my eyes. Did Adam just shave his head for me?
"So, how do I loook? Pretty cool, huh?" he remarked, sitting on my bed and pulling me onto his lap.
"Adam, you didn't have to shave your head for me," I said, my voice almost cracking due to the emotions I felt.
"I know," he stated, wrapping his arms around me, "but I wanted to. You're going through a very hard time right now, my Justin. I want to be able to support you in whichever way I can. I love you! Remember, I'm forever yours."
We sat in silence for a while. Then I turned to my fiancé and said:
"And I'm forever yours, Adam. I can't wait to marry you."
Meanwhile, it's the year 2024. I am still battling Leukemia, but according to KreekCraft, I'm making really good progress. I hope Adam and I get to go back to planning our wedding. We sure have been through a lot. And as long as we're together, we're ready to go through so much more. With Adam by my side, I have nothing to fear. He always says I'm his hero. Well, so is he. He's my hero. He forever will be.
