As the days passed, the weekend arrived, marking the big day for Uma and her husband's anniversary celebration at Jason's mansion. The gathering included Mr. Tailor, Tameka, Joe, and Auntie Imelda, all present to commemorate the occasion. June and Jason sat together on the sofa, while Chrissy stood in the corner of the hall, observing the festivities. "Men will always be men," a voice beside Chrissy remarked, drawing her attention. She turned to see Andrea standing beside her. "Huh?" Chrissy responded, puzzled.
"I mean Jason," Andrea clarified. "I thought he married the love of his life, but he keeps stealing glances at you. "Chrissy's gaze instinctively shifted to where Jason sat, and their eyes met briefly before she looked away, her expression a mix of disgust and anger. "He's a fool, Andrea," she spat out.
"Oh," Andrea replied, taken aback. "But wait, I thought you loved him. Now you hate him?" she questioned, confused by Chrissy's sudden change in demeanor . Chrissy's response was cold and devoid of emotion. "And I want him to disappear," she stated bluntly before walking away,
leaving Andrea to ponder her words. Shrugging off the strange encounter, Andrea made her way to the wine section, deciding to join her husband.
"Let's salute the happy couple," Jason's voice cut through the jovial atmosphere, commanding everyone's attention as they clinked their glasses together. Laughter filled the hall, and merrymaking ensued.
Meanwhile, Mr. Tailor sat quietly until Tameka approached him, seeking a private conversation. "Umm, Dad, I want to inform you about some urgent news regarding Chrissy," she began, her voice laced with concern.
As Tameka relayed the information to her father, his anger simmered beneath the surface until it reached a boiling point. With a sudden eruption of fury, he stood up, causing the room to fall silent as his body shook with shock.
"CHRISTINA!" he bellowed, his voice echoing through the hall, capturing everyone's attention. Chrissy turned, her heart pounding as she met her father's enraged gaze.
Tameka stood behind her father, her arms folded and a smirk playing on her lips. "YOU! YOU WITCH!" Mr. Tailor screamed, his accusation cutting through the air like a blade. Chrissy felt a shiver run down her spine, confusion clouding her mind as she tried to comprehend her father's sudden outburst.
"OMG, what again?" Auntie Imelda interjected, her concern evident, but Mr. Tailor paid her no heed. Instead, he moved toward Chrissy without warning, his actions fueled by rage. In an instant, he grabbed her hair and dragged her to the centre of the hall, the room now filled with tense anticipation and worried whispers.
"Mr. Tailor!" Jason exclaimed, rising from his seat, his instinct to protect Chrissy kicking in. But his father-in-law warned him sternly not to come any closer. Helpless, Jason stood there, his fists clenched at his sides, his heart pounding with a mix of fury and fear. "How dare you! How dare you try to disgrace me!" Mr. Tailor thundered, his voice laced with indignation as he forcefully threw Chrissy to the floor.
"You are sleeping with another man behind your husband's back!" Mr. Tailor's accusation hung in the air like a heavy cloud, sending shockwaves through the room. Jason's eyes widened in disbelief as he processed his father-in-law's words, his mind reeling with a tumult of emotions.
Meanwhile, Tameka and June couldn't contain their amusement, bursting into laughter at the spectacle unfolding before them. Chrissy lay on the floor, stunned by the accusation and the sudden turn of events,. ..... "I never raised a whore! You should be ashamed of yourself!" Mr. Tailor's words cut through the tense silence, echoing in the hall as tears streamed down Chrissy's face. She remained silent, keeping to herself amidst the shock and humiliation.
Uma and her aunt watched on, their concern mingled with disbelief. They couldn't fathom that Chrissy would be accused of such a thing, and suspicions arose, hinting at a possible plot against her orchestrated by Tameeka."Chrissy," Uma called softly, her heart aching for her friend. She moved forward, intending to offer her support, but halted when she heard Chrissy burst into laughter. Confused and taken aback, Chrissy raised her head to see her father standing close to her, her presence looming over her like a dark shadow.
For 25 long years, Chrissy had carried a yearning in her heart for her father's love. But as she stood up to face him, the words spilled out like a dam breaking. "You treated me like garbage," Chrissy said, her voice quivering with emotion. "You favored Tameka and called me a mistake. But you, Dad, you act like you've done nothing wrong in your life, CHRISTINA TAILOR!! LET ME TALK!!!"Her father, taken aback by her sudden outburst, tried to interrupt, but Chrissy wouldn't have it. "Let me talk!" she screamed, her frustration pouring out in every word.
The room fell silent, tension thick between them as Chrissy waited for her father to acknowledge her pain, I found out how my mom died. She caught you cheating with your secretary and wanted to leave with me to keep me safe. But then, she got in a car crash and didn't make it. She was just trying to protect me from you.
"You called me 'stained' because I was raped when I was young. Mom wanted to take me away from you because of that. But after she died, and still now, you blame me for her loss," Chrissy sobbed as she recounted her side of the story. ..... The hall fell silent as everyone tried to process Chrissy's confessions. She glanced at Tameka, Mr. Taylor's favorite daughter, teasingly calling her the "witch of the west."
"How dare you insult me," Tameka warned. "Oh, I'm not insulting you," Chrissy replied. "I just want to burst your bubble about your perfect marriage.
"Jason, watch your wife!" Joe exclaimed. "Well, well, well, isn't it Tam's favorite husband who warms his wife's side of the bed with women," Chrissy mocked. "What is she talking about?" Tameka asked her husband directly.
"See for yourself," Chrissy replied, showing the video taken at the mall. Tameka burst into tears, and Uma left her side to comfort her as they both sat on the couch. ... "Chrissy, that's enough," Uma warned, staring at her friend. "No, I'm not done," Chrissy replied defiantly. "Who is the perfect person now, you bitch!" "Chrissy, stop this!" Jason intervened, trying to pull her away. "Leave me alone, you bastard!" Chrissy snapped, yanking her hand from his grip.
"I've had enough of this nonsense!" Mr. Taylor exclaimed, stretching out his hand to slap Chrissy, but she grabbed his hand and pushed him to the ground.
"Oh, Chrissy, what have you done?" Auntie Imelda's voice quivered with disbelief as she rushed to assist her brother to his feet. "What I should have done a long time ago... I will make sure Mum gets the peace she deserves," Chrissy's declaration pierced the tense air, her voice unwavering with determination. "And I'll make sure you pay for what you did to her and me, Dad," she added, her words hanging heavy with the weight of years of pain and betrayal. ... After uttering those words, Chrissy hurried out of the house and jumped into her car, wasting no time as she drove off into the distance. Alone in the vehicle, she whispered to herself, a radiant smile gracing her lips as she tenderly caressed her abdomen. "I have something to tell you, Clouse ," she murmured, with her heart brimming with anticipation and joy.
Back at Jason's mansion, everyone began to leave, except for the immediate family. Auntie Imelda sat beside her stunned brother, taking his hands gently into hers. "I had to tell her the truth, brother. It was her right to know. You hated her for no reason, brother," Auntie Imelda spoke softly yet firmly, her words cutting through the heavy atmosphere.
"For so many years, you made her the culprit of what happened to her and her mum. She is wounded, you must understand that it's your fault, brother," she continued, her voice tinged with sadness and disappointment. With that, she stood up and left, leaving Mr. Tailor to grapple with his thoughts.
"How would she forgive me?" Mr. Taylor pondered, his mind swirling with regret and remorse.
"I don't know how to mend my marriage, guys," Joe cried out in frustration.
"She wouldn't listen to me, so she becomes a fool again," Jason replied, his tone heavy with resignation. "Says Mr. 'Keep them separated'," Alex teased, and both men burst into laughter. "You couldn't because it's so hard for your dumb brain, dummy," Alex spat. "It's alright, let's leave him," Jason intervened, pulling Alex away, and they both left Joe's side. "Guys, you cannot leave me!" Joe cried out desperately. "Guys! Guys!"
"So, what is your next step, Jason?" Alex asked. "I don't know, Alex," Jason replied with a heavy sigh. "Chrissy hates me, and almost everyone in this hall. I don't think she can forgive me, let alone her dad and her sister. "Alex gently patted his back to comfort him, understanding the weight of the situation.
Chrissy arrived at Clouse's house only to find him packing his bags. "What's going on here? Where are you going?" she asked him, concern evident in her voice. "I'm leaving, Chrissy," Clouse replied solemnly. "What? Why?" Chrissy's voice rose with panic. "The contract has been terminated," Clouse explained.
"Wait...how come? You can't leave! I said give me more..." Chrissy began, but Clouse interrupted her sharply. "Chrissy, enough! You always ask for more time, but you've done nothing," Clouse stated firmly. "My family is complicated, Clouse. Do you love me though, or is it just a fling?" Chrissy pleaded. "Don't say that," Clouse retorted. "Answer the damn question." "No, I don't love you," Chrissy confessed reluctantly.
"Well, there you have it," Clouse replied tersely as he moved his luggage towards the entrance.
Chrissy quickly followed Clouse and stood facing him. "We can work this out, Clouse, and plus I have good news," Chrissy said, her voice trembling with desperation. "I don't want to talk anymore, Chrissy! Get the hell out!" Clouse exclaimed, pushing her away. "Clouse, listen to me," Chrissy pleaded, her eyes pleading for understanding. "I will only if you agree to come with me," Clouse countered firmly. "You know I can't, Clouse. I'm sorry," Chrissy replied softly. Clouse gave a heavy sigh and banged the door shut in front of her. Chrissy stood in the doorway, hoping Clouse would change his mind, but it was futile. With a heavy heart, she walked towards her car, sat in it, and drove off into the night.
She drove her car, tears streaming down her face, blurring her vision. Suddenly, her phone rang, and her demeanor shifted to anger as she stared at the caller ID. "What do you want, Jason?" Chrissy snapped into the phone.
"Chrissy, please listen, don't cut the call...where are you? Let me come and fetch you," Jason pleaded on the other end. "How many times have I told you to leave me alone?" Chrissy spat angrily into the phone. "I can't leave you alone, Chrissy. Just come home so that we can talk," Jason pleaded desperately.
"No, I'm not coming home. You have your wife," Chrissy retorted, her frustration mounting. "Please, Chrissy, I love you," Jason's words only agitated her further, and she abruptly cut the call. "You always make me a fool, lies, lies, lies! I hate you, Jason! I hate all of you!" Chrissy screamed and wailed, her emotions spiraling out of control.
Suddenly, a car veered towards her lane, about to collide with her, but she managed to dodge it. However, her car fell into a shallow valley. The driver of the other car swiftly got out, rushed towards her vehicle, and pulled her out just before it exploded.
Chrissy lay there unconscious, her head seriously bruised and her vision blurry. The driver picked her up gently and hurriedly rushed her to the hospital.
Jason suddenly received a call from an unknown number. He picked up, his expression turning serious as he listened intently to the person on the other end. The rest of the group looked at him, confused and worried. "Which hospital?" Jason replied quickly before hanging up. "What's going on, Jason?" Uma asked, concern evident in her voice. "Chrissy was involved in an accident," Jason replied, his voice tense with worry. "OMG," Uma exclaimed, her hands flying to her mouth in shock. Tension filled the air as all of them rushed out of the house with Jason leading the way to the hospital.
At the hospital, they were directed to wait in the lounge as Chrissy had been rushed into the ER for surgery. They all took seats, anxiously awaiting news. Jason couldn't sit still; he paced back and forth, praying for the doctor to arrive with an update.
Mr. Taylor and Tameka sat quietly, their faces reflecting shame for the way they had treated Chrissy. Uma remained by Chrissy's aunt's side, offering comfort as she couldn't stop crying.
"Why is it taking forever, Alex?" Jason spoke, frustrated, rubbing his hand over his head. "Everything will be fine, Jason," Alex assured him, trying to offer some comfort. June sat quietly, observing Jason's behavior. After four hours, the doctor finally emerged to give them news.
"How is she, Doc?" Jason asked with concern. "Well, it's good news. She's out of danger," the doctor replied, bringing a wave of relief over everyone. But then he added, "But she lost the baby." "The baby?" The rest looked at each other, confused. "How come there was a baby?" Uma asked, puzzled. "It's not mine, but for her lover," Jason said, his voice breaking as tears filled his eyes. Alex came to his side to comfort him.
The doctor gave permission for them to see Chrissy in her ward. As they entered, they gazed at Chrissy, still unconscious on the bed. Mr. Taylor couldn't bear to see his daughter in that condition, as it reminded him of his late wife.
Jason decided to stay with Chrissy while everyone else went home. But June had an issue with Jason staying by Chrissy's side and opposed it. "Let's go home, Jason. The hospital will take care of her," June insisted. "You go ahead. I'll come in the morning," Jason replied, determined to stay.
"Stop making things complicated already! I'm still your wife," June spat. "She's still my wife too, June. I can't leave her," Jason replied, to which June left him angrily. Jason sat beside Chrissy, placing her hand in his as his other hand caressed her face. "Please come back to me, Chrissy. Wake up," he pleaded with teary eyes. He slept by her side until the next day.
