"WHAT SHOULD I watch today?" Ka'oir mumbled to herself as she flipped through youtube for an entertaining video to watch.
After a long session at the dance studio, Ka'oir and Dudey had spent hours on the phone, their conversation flowing effortlessly. But now, with Dudey in the kitchen cooking for his younger sister, Jakia, Ka'oir found herself getting bored, the quiet of the empty house amplifying her boredom.
"What's this?" She'd finally found something that peaked her interests. The video was a smash or pass, usually she wouldn't watch it, but she seen many of her friends on the thumbnail.
As the video started playing, Ka'oir's eyes narrowed as she recognized a familiar figure in the background. It was Dudey, her boyfriend. With her curiosity piqued, she continued watching, waiting for his turn to come. Once it was his turn, Ka'oir couldn't help but feel disappointed by his answers. Almost every girl he rated got a 'smash' or a 'she's a pain,' and it left her feeling a little angry.
As the video drew to a close, Dudey suddenly appeared on screen, a wide grin adorning his face as he balanced a plate of food in his hands. "Bae, you see this? This shit good as fuck, my sister tearing this shit up."
Not getting a reply, his face quickly turned into a scowl, "Nah, what's wrong wit' you?"
Ka'oir's voice, usually soft and gentle, now dripped with sarcasm. "You're what's wrong with me. Oh, so these bitches is pain to you, and you smashing, right?' She folded her arms across her chest, her frustration evident in her stance.
As Ka'oir confronted Dudey, her mind raced with anger. How is he acting so nonchalant about this? "You're dead weird, Taevin."
Dudey's brows furrowed in confusion. "Mama, what is you talking about?" He shook his head, trying to make sense of the accusation. "I dead don't remember saying nothing like that to nobody."
"'You're on YouTube, along with Ty'jae and all them other stupid niggas." Ka'oir's expression darkened as she watched Dudey's confusion.
Taevin looks up at the ceiling for a few seconds before looking at his phone with a smile of realization, "Nuni, you dead mad at a video?"
No response.
"I promise that shit was only for entertainment, Noti wanted me to fake because he said I was being boring." Taevin's tone was genuine, "Ian even fuck you, why would I fuck them?"
"Are you sure? Cause you looked serious when you was saying that to them." Ka'oir's tone was laced with skepticism, her eyes narrowing as she waited for his response.
Taevin groaned as he quickly got upset by the conversation. "Ma, you know I didn't mean none of that forreal. Why you acting like that?"
"Dudey cause that's embarrassing. How would you feel if I did a smash or pa- Stop playing with me Ka'oir." Dudey interrupted to say.
"See you'd be upset that I was even in the video."
He nodded his head in shame, knowing she was right about everything she was saying. "I know, mama. I'm sorry, I won't do no more videos like that."
"Thank you, Dudey. That's all I wanted." Ka'oir had a slight smile on her face. "Now, show me your food again."
An hour passed since Ka'oir and Dudey's conversation. Dudey, now in the kitchen, glanced at his phone as a message flashed on the screen. His brows furrowed in confusion as he read the text, a puzzled expression forming on his face.
"Bae, you seen the nigga that was recording the video right?" Dudey called out, his voice tinged with uncertainty.
Ka'oir looked up from her phone, curiosity piqued by Dudey's sudden change in demeanor. "The video you was saying smash to everybo-"
"Ma, I apologized cut it out," Dudey interrupted, a hint of embarrassment in his tone. "But yeah, that nigga. He just texted me, Chris, Ddot, and Benzo if we wanted to be in a video tonight."
Ka'oir's eyes narrowed at the mention of another video, "Boy, you're not being in another smash or pass unless I'm in it too.- Word to, don't ever say that shit again—you ain't being in no smash or pass, nigga." Dudey's face was turned up in a mug as he interrupted.
"It's not even a smash or pass this time. He said it's a car video so it's prolly gon' be filmed right ona block. Get dressed and come down, everybody out there."

As Ka'oir walked outside her building, the familiar sound of the bustling streets greeted her. She spotted her friends gathered near the street corner, their laughter echoing through the air as they filmed a TikTok to "On Me" by Lil baby. Ka'oir ran behind Trinity, grabbing her hips to be in the Tiktok. After a few times, trying to get the tiktok right, they let out excited cheers in satisfaction.
"Hey sexy mama," Trinity hugged Ka'oir, "You look so good, you lucky you with Dudey, word to bro, I woulda took you down."
"Girl get yo' gay ass away from my bestie." Indya swatted Trinity's hands away from Ka'oir.
Ka'oir chuckled at her friend's bickering, before saying, "Hey Trin, hey Indya, what y'all been doing?"
"Nothing, it's dumb boring out here. We been doing Tiktoks and shit." Trinity answered with a shrug.
Ka'oir nods, looking around the block. Glancing across the street, Ka'oir noticed the group of boys engaged in lively conversation as they smoked. Among them, her brother stood engrossed in conversation with Idris, their laughter punctuating the air as they shared stories and jokes. Suddenly, Roscoe caught sight of his sister and waved her over.
"Come across the street, Roscoe wants me," Ka'oir said to her friends, motioning for them to follow.
"Ka'oir, bring yo' slow ass on," Roscoe called out, his eyes locking with Indya's for a moment before he turned back to his sister. "Wassup Indya, Trinity," Indya returned the gaze, a subtle smile playing on her lips.
Trinity and Ka'oir exchanged a confused glance as they noticed the silent exchange between Roscoe and Indya. Something about the way they looked at each other seemed to hint at a deeper connection, but neither of them knew the truth. The two girls walked away, leaving the siblings and Idris alone.
"Idris, this my baby sis, Ka'oir. Ka'oir, this a bum ass nigga named Idris." Roscoe said, earning a small smack to the back from Idris.
"Nigga do I play with you like that?" Idris fake bucks at Roscoe.
Ka'oir pushes Idris away from her older brother, a mug sprawled across her face, "Don't get on hots with my brother, you gon' get hopped."
"Nahhhh, I thought your sister was a sweet innocent lil' girl. Wow Ka'oir."
"Shit, she is, but she gon' get on hots with anybody for me." Roscoe threw his arm across his sister's shoulders.
As the two boys started to converse, Ka'oir's attention shifted, her eyes scanning the street for any sign of Dudey. She furrowed her brow, a sense of unease creeping over her as she realized he was nowhere in sight. Just as she began to worry, a commotion erupted from a car parked across the street.
"You not smacking nobody, I betchu' that." The voices overlapped, and Ka'oir strained to make out the figures in the front of the car, where the boys seemed to be playfully roughhousing.
"Yo nah, we owe this nigga a ass whoopen. You got me caught up last time at that smash or pass, my nigga. My bitch bro, she- she was bombing me about that shit, you heard?" The sound of Dudey's voice cut through the noise, and Ka'oir's heart skipped a beat. Bitch? Who the fuck do he think he is?
"Why she bombed you about it, you ain't get no bitches?"
"Taevin," Ka'oir called out, her voice piercing the commotion and drawing all eyes to her. Dudey's gaze met hers, a slight smirk playing on his lips, but there was a hint of fright in his eyes.
"Oh, that's yo' bitch right there?" Noti pointed, the car falling silent as Ka'oir locked eyes with Dudey, her expression unreadable.
"Oh shit!" Chris laughed nervously, while Ddot stared between the two with concern.
Dudey turned to Noti, his expression blank. "Ima have to control that," Noti said, his voice serious as he glanced at the camera. Before he could finish, Dudey lunged at him, the other boys joining in the fray.
Dudey released Noti, his fists clenched in frustration. "What nigga? Stop playing wit' me nigga."
"After this, I'm controlling your bitch all the wayyy."
Ddot laughed nervously, attempting to diffuse the tension. "Yo, Noti. Ion think you wanna play about her."
Everyone in the car held a deep respect for Ka'oir, none more so than Dudey. Sensing the tension, Ddot felt compelled to warn Noti to prevent Dudey from reacting like a crazy man. Noti felt Dudey actually upset so he knew to chill out before he actually got beat up.
"Christopherrrrrr," He dragged out, getting in the boy's face. With the group distracted, Dudey decided to take this as his opportunity to go talk to his girl.
She stood with crossed arms, a scowl on her face. Dudey offered her a smile, hoping to change her mood.
He moved in for a hug, but she pushed him back, her tone sharp. "So I'm your bitch now?" His girlfriend had never heard Dudey use that word towards her in their two years of dating, leaving her bewildered by his sudden choice of words.
"Nah, baby, you know you're my wife. It just slipped out." Despite her resistance, Dudey pulled her into a hug, hoping to reassure her. "I love you, Ka'oir."
"Mhm boy, go finish your video."
"I said, I love you."
"I love you more, Taevin." She rolled her eyes and pecked him on the lips.
"Worda' my dead, you niggas make me sick." Roscoe remarked, disgust evident on his face.
Twenty minutes went by, all the men that once were in the car, were now on the block where everyone else was. Right now Noti was getting jumped by the boys because he repeatedly claimed he'd take Ka'oir from Dudey.
With a laugh, Ka'oir pulled her boyfriend away who was playfully hitting his friend. "Leave him alone, Dudey."
"Nahhh, he kept playing wit' niggas. I had to get my get back." Dudey laughed, "Ight Noti, if you say you O's, they gon' stop beating on you."
"OYK, nigga." Noti replied.
All the boys were hitting him by now. A few seconds later everyone moves away from them and disperse into groups. Noti was now standing next to Idris, his camera in hand.
"Wassup Ka'oir," Noti smiled at the shorter girl. "You type look good."
Roscoe pushed the boy's shoulder, mugging him, "Yo, Noti. You want your ass beat?"
"Nah word, keep playing wit' my girl and word to bro, I'm decking you." Dudey spoke wrapping his arms around Ka'oir's waist. "And get her out the fucking camera."
"Yeah cover her face or something, if I see her in that video I'm fucking you up." Roscoe added.
"Nigga, Roscoe, why yo' bitch ass so mad? That's not your girl."
"That's my lil' sister," Roscoe says with a duh tone.
"Oh, my fault, my fault." Noti dapped him up,finally stopping the camera. "Nah but forreal, Ka'oir, it's nice to meet you. I didn't never know about you."
"It's nice to meet you too. I heard about you, you be getting beat up by these weak niggas." She joked, shaking the man's hand.
"Never." He laughed with her. "You funny, you wanna be in a video?"
"Hell nah!" Her brother and boyfriend yelled at the same time.
"He was asking me, not y'all." She mugged the two. "Of course, I'ma follow your instagram later."
Dudey and Roscoe mugged her. They had reasons to not want her on such a big platform like youtube. The amount of people that didn't like them and wanted to hurt them, they knew it was best to keep the girl out of the spotlight. The girl didn't understand that yet so Dudey made a mental note to talk to her later.
The night passed with the group chatting and laughing.
