Felix had nearly torn the hinges off the door to his study. His anger seethed like a tempest within him, fueled by the fear and frustration of Calvin's reckless actions. How could he have been so careless? Olivia's safety was paramount, and yet Calvin had jeopardized it by taking her out of the pack house, exposing her to untold dangers.

He made his way behind the imposing desk that dominated the center of the room with Calvin following too casually behind him for Felix's liking. Crafted from dark, rich wood, its surface was polished to a high shine, reflecting the warm glow of the lamp that stood upon it. Piles of papers and leather-bound journals were neatly stacked atop the desk, but one was opened and its papers scattered.

Ablbet one wall, the walls of the study were lined with floor-to-ceiling bookshelves, their shelves filled with volumes on a wide array of subjects. From ancient tomes on werewolf lore to modern texts on pack dynamics and leadership, Felix's collection spanned centuries of knowledge and wisdom. The scent of aged parchment and leather permeated the air, adding to the room's aura of scholarly reverence.

Calvin took a seat in front of Felix's desk, a place he had taken many times before. Felix leaned against the edge of his desk, his expression stern and unforgiving as he fixed Calvin with a steely gaze. The lines of tension etched into his features betrayed the depth of his frustration, his jaw set in a tight line as he struggled to contain his anger.

Mull him, his wolf said, He took her without telling you!

"Explain yourself," Felix demanded, his voice low and authoritative. "Why did you take Olivia out of the pack house without my permission?"

Calvin shifted uncomfortably in his seat, the weight of Felix's disapproval heavy upon him. Felix's lifelong friend ran a hand through his hair, a nervous gesture that betrayed his unease.  "It's not that big of a deal-"

"Not that big of a deal?" Felix roared.  He felt his heartbeat rise with his temper.  "Not that big of a deal?  Goddess, tell me what would happen if you two were attacked out there? Our lead would be lost!"

Calvin narrowed his eyes, "You realize she's more than just a lead, Felix."

"Of course, I know that," he snapped, his voice tight with frustration. "But that doesn't mean we can afford to be reckless."

Felix's voice echoed in the room, filling the space with an intensity that matched the storm brewing within him. He paced behind his desk, his steps measured yet agitated, like a caged beast ready to pounce.  Calvin stared at him, a stare that could read Felix well.

"You have no idea what's at stake here," Felix continued, his words sharp with anger. "Olivia is not just some pawn in this game. She's our best chance at finding a solution to this mess we're in."

"What did the elders say in your meeting?" Calvin leaned back in his chair.  He knew Felix way too well.

Felix stopped pacing behind his desk and stared at Calvin.  "What?"

Calvin repeated himself, his tone even more casual than it was before. "This morning, what did the elders say?"

Felix looked down at the file that lay open on his desk.  Olivia's face stared back at him.  It was a picture from two years ago when she was offered an award as a research assistant.  Her face was one of pleasant surprise as she shook hands with the person who was presenting the award.  Underneath that, two other photos had been taken by one of his pack members who had been tailing Olivia for the past few days. In one, she was walking alone, seemingly lost in thought, while the other showed her laughing with another girl at a café, the sunlight casting a golden glow around them.

The stack of papers behind those photos contained any information he could find on her. Although she had left a large footprint, she remained elusive.  He knew about her time spent in the orphanage until her eighteenth birthday, her full-ride scholarship to Brookside University, and her impressive academic record. But there were gaps in her history, details that remained shrouded in mystery. Felix had spent countless hours poring over every scrap of information he could find, searching for any clue that might shed light on who Olivia truly was and why she was being targeted.

"To hell with the elders," Felix tossed the newspaper on his desk to Calvin. It was one from the human realm.  The headline read: Three Girls Missing.

Calvin's eyes widened as he scanned the headline, the gravity of the situation sinking in. "Three girls missing?" he repeated, his voice filled with concern.

Felix nodded grimly. "Yeah. They vanished without a trace over the past month, one of them was found just outside Brookside," he explained, his tone heavy with worry. "All of them were around Olivia's age and had similar backgrounds."

"But Felix," Calvin scanned the article, opening the newspaper to continue reading the article.  "This is from the human world,"

"I know," Felix sat down behind his desk and started shuffling the papers again.  "The elders gave it to me this morning."

While Brookside was prominently on the map, humans can't just come to Brookside.  The town was created as a haven for werewolves, somewhere beyond the grasp of the touch of humans.  When wolves started to mate with humans, that sense of security vanished, causing deep-rooted hate for some families in werewolf communities.  While the wolves stayed in Brookside, the humans just beyond pack borders had no idea that the supernatural existed in front of their eyes.

Calvin's eyes peaked from the top of the paper, his eyebrows high.  "Oh?"

"Apparently," He said, icyness filling his voice. "The elders believe that if the deaths don't stop, then people are going to start snooping around Brookside.  They think that if humans come to Brookside, it could cause even more trouble for the pack."

Calvin's expression darkened. Humans around Brookside mean unraveling the secrets they wove so carefully here.  Olivia just being in the pack house shifted that fragile bond.  "So, what are we going to do?"

"I don't know," Felix admitted and he hated it.  He despised feeling uncertain, especially when the safety of his pack was on the line. Yet, the situation was complex, and he knew that rash decisions could lead to dire consequences.

"We need more information," Felix continued, his tone determined. "We need to find out what's behind these disappearances and how they're connected to Olivia and the other girls' deaths."

Calvin nodded in agreement, his mind already racing with potential leads. "I'll start digging," he offered, his voice resolute.  "We could do a stake out tonight?"

Felix nodded, a plan formulating in his head. His gaze fixed on the papers scattered across his desk. "I'll reach out to some contacts to see if we can gather any intel from outside sources."

After a moment, Felix asked. "Have you got anything from the Coven yet?"

"No, not quite." Calvin sighed.  "I tried my contact, but it seems that she decided to block me after that last issue,"

Felix's lips pursed. "If I have to question every single person in Brookside to find those damn witches-"

Suddenly, a familiar nagging presence brushed against Felix's mind, intruding on his thoughts that could only belong to two people who enjoyed bringing him misery: his younger brothers, Blyke and Blaine. The mindlink, a psychic connection shared among werewolves, allowed them to communicate telepathically, and the two idiots seemed to have something urgent on their minds.

"Felix!" Blyke's voice echoed in his mind, "Hey, are you there?"

Felix let out an exasperated sigh, recognizing his brother's voice immediately. "What, Blyke? Now's not the time," he replied tersely, his mental voice tinged with irritation.

But before Felix could continue, Blaine's voice chimed in, equally as cheeky as his brother's. "Hey, Felix, we need to talk to you about something important!"

Felix clenched his jaw, already bracing himself for whatever nonsense his younger brothers were about to spew through the mindlink. "If you two ask me again if we can have a dog again, I'll make sure you never can turn into a wolf again."

Blyke's mental voice crackled with excitement. "It's about your human friend, Olivia," he began, "She's around our age, right?"

"Yes," Felix didn't have time for this.  "She's the same age as you two, you both are in the same University.  Except you both are dumbasses that can't compete,"

"Ouch," Blaine faked hurt.

"Why is any of this important?"

Blyke's mental voice buzzed with excitement. "Because she's hot, Felix!"  Blyke's mental voice buzzed with excitement as he exclaimed, "Like, really hot."

Felix resisted the urge to groan aloud, frustration bubbling within him at his brothers' blatant disregard for the seriousness of the situation at hand. "This is not what I mean when I say to mindlink me when something urgent happens,"

"Oh, this bit is though," Blaine said.  Felix imagined Blaine's mischievous smile. "We're with her right now, actually."

Felix stiffened.  The twins were trouble, especially when they were together and if it had anything to do with girls.  Where was Mira?  Was she keeping an eye on them?

Felix's irritation flared into full-blown frustration. "What do you mean you're with her?" he demanded, his mental voice sharp with concern. "And what exactly are you doing with her?"

Blaine's mental laughter echoed in Felix's mind, accompanied by a teasing tone. "Come on, Felix, don't be such a stick in the mud," he teased, his thoughts laced with amusement.

"We're just asking if she's off-limits. You know, for research purposes." Blyke's voice continued.

Felix heaved a sigh through his nose, "If you two don't have anything useful to contribute, I suggest you leave me alone. I have more pressing matters to attend to."

But instead of heeding Felix's warning, the twins persisted, their mental voices tinged with certainty. "Well, since you never explicitly said she's off-limits," Blaine reasoned, "We figured we'd take her up to our room and have a little fun with her."

Felix's blood boiled at their audacity, his anger reaching a boiling point. "Absolutely not," he growled, his mental voice laced with venom. "You will do no such thing. Leave her alone, right now."

Blyke chuckled, the sound echoing through Felix's mind like a taunt. "Aw, come on, Felix, where's your sense of adventure? You used to be so fun,"

"For the love of the Moon-" The mindlink abruptly went silent, leaving Felix seething with frustration. With a frustrated growl, he blinked back to his study.  Calvin looked at him with a questionable look, but before Calvin could even ask what--or who--his conversation was with, Felix stormed out of his study.

Felix stormed through the corridors of the pack house, his heart pounding. The image of Olivia's being harassed by the twins, burned in his mind, fueling his determination to find her and ensure her safety. The thought of his brothers, Blyke and Blaine, even daring to lay a hand on her sent a surge of rage coursing through him. He distinctly heard Calvin behind him, following.

He raced through the pack house, his nose following Olivia's vibrant scent.  With each stride, his mind raced with worst-case scenarios, each one worse than the last. What if the twins had already taken Olivia to their room? What if they had already crossed boundaries with her? The thought made Felix's blood run cold.

As he reached the kitchen door, Felix's hand clenched into a tight fist, his knuckles turning white with tension. He braced himself for what he might find on the other side, steeling his resolve to confront his brothers if they had indeed overstepped their bounds.

The knot of fear tightened in Felix's chest as he reached the kitchen door, his hand trembling slightly as he pushed it open. What he saw on the other side stopped him in his tracks, freezing him in place with a mixture of relief and disbelief.

There, in the warm glow of the kitchen lights, sat Olivia, Mira, and the twins, gathered around the kitchen island in animated conversation. Olivia's laughter filled the air, a sound that washed over Felix like a soothing balm, easing the tension that had gripped him moments before. She looked unharmed, her expression bright and animated as she engaged with his siblings.

"And then, this fairy comes out of nowhere and-" Mira's eyes went behind the girl sitting in front of her.  "Felix! Calvin! I was just telling Olivia the time we all went to Nantucket with Mom and Dad three summers ago."

Olivia turned to face him, the amusement in her green eyes died slowly as they met Felix's, her long blonde hair cascading around her shoulders. A dusting of freckles adorned her nose and cheeks, adding to the vibrancy of her appearance. Despite the chaos swirling around them, she exuded a sense of calm and grace that drew Felix in like a moth to a flame.

"Oh no," She mumbled, her face looked grave.  "What did I do this time?"

Felix tried to ignore her as he looked at the twins, who beheld faces of faux innocence.  His eyes narrowed at them.

"Hey," Blaine said casually, a crude smile making its way to his face. "Mira made snacks, want some?"

"You looked stressed," Blyke said, basically batting his eyes. "Anything we did?"

"You two need to grow up," Felix grumbled.

Blyke pointed a carrot at Felix, "Where's the fun in that?"

Olivia looked back and forth between the twins and Felix, her face clouded with confusion.  Felix let out a frustrated sigh, running a hand through his hair as he tried to gather his thoughts. He couldn't believe he let the twins get to him.  He knew they enjoyed seeing him miserable with their pranks, so why did this one bother him more than the others?

"So, Felix," Blaine continued as Felix and Calvin approached the kitchen island.  "Mira hadn't even gotten to the good part of the story about Nantucket."

Felix's eyes went wide as he realized that his siblings were about to regale Olivia with the incident in the lighthouse that summer. He shot a pleading glance at Mira, silently begging her to spare him, but she merely smirked in response, clearly enjoying the opportunity to embarrass him.

"What good part?" Olivia asked, her curiosity piqued as she turned her attention back to Felix, a playful twinkle in her eyes.

Felix stared down his brothers and sister as he braced himself for the anecdote they were about to share. Nantucket was not a fun time for him and he'd likely never be back on that island again if he had the choice.

But before Blaine could launch into his story, Calvin stepped to his side, holding up his phone for Felix to read.  As his eyes darted across the screen, his brow furrowed.

"What is it?" Olivia asked, her features mirroring Felix's.

"We gotta go," Felix said, walking over and grabbing Olivia's uninjured arm, and pulling her off the stool.

"I'm still hungry!" She whined and stumbled after him.  Calvin quickly walked back into the pack house to grab keys and a few other things for their latest escapade.

As Felix dragged Olivia away from the kitchen, Mira's voice cut through the air, exasperated. "Felix!"

"What?" He said his tone mimicking Mira's exasperation as he led Olivia away.

"What are you doing?" She crossed her arms as she also stood from her stool.  "You can't just manhandle her!"

Felix halted in his tracks, his grip on Olivia's arm loosening as he turned to face Mira, his expression tense with frustration. "Something's come up, and we need to leave."

Mira's eyes widened with concern, her brows furrowing in confusion. A silent question etching on her features.

"It's pack business," he replied evasively, his tone guarded.  He felt bad for leaving her in the dark, but until he knew what exactly he was dealing with he didn't want to worry her.

Mira's eyes danced from Felix's to Olivia's, her confusion growing.  Felix was used to Mira's scrutinizing stare, but Olivia shifted under it.  She glanced at Felix, silently pleading for him to offer some explanation, but he remained tight-lipped.  He hated how he was the oldest among his siblings but Mira always seemed to know exactly what was going on. It was as if she had some kind of sixth sense when it came to the dynamics within the pack.

Mira sighed, her expression softening with understanding. "Alright," she relented, her voice tinged with resignation. "But if I never see my new friend again, I'll make sure you'll never leave that lighthouse again on Nantucket."

Felix felt unease rake through him.  He knew that Mira would be true to her word.  Even Calvin's face twinged as he came back into the room at the thought of being on top of that lighthouse again.  Felix's grip on Olivia's arm tightened slightly at the mention of the lighthouse incident, a shiver running down his spine at the memory of that disastrous trip.

He started dragging Olivia away again, following Calvin out the front door.  Olivia twisted in his grasp, calling over her shoulder and waving to the twins and Mira.  "It was nice meeting you!"

As they stepped outside into the cool night air, Felix released Olivia's arm, his expression still tense.  She stared up at Felix, her big green eyes mirroring concern.

"Get in the car," Felix said, nodding towards the black SUV.  Calvin tossed him the car keys and Felix caught them mid-air.  "We don't have much time."

Olivia nodded, sensing the urgency in Felix's tone. She hurried towards the vehicle, her footsteps quick and determined as she reached for the back door handle. Calvin followed close behind, his movements mirroring Felix's as they both prepared for the scene ahead.

"You get the front," Calvin mumbled, pushing Olivia towards the passenger side.  "Don't ask,"

Felix stared at him briefly but didn't have time to question it.  He climbed into the driver's seat, his hands gripping the steering wheel tightly as he took a deep breath, trying to steady his racing thoughts. The events of the evening had left him on edge, his mind spinning.

As Olivia settled into the passenger seat beside him, Felix spared her a brief glance and inhaled deeply, his expression softening slightly at the sight of her. Despite the chaos that seemed to follow him wherever he went, her presence brought him a sense of calm and clarity that he sorely needed at that moment.

Once they were all seated inside the vehicle, Felix wasted no time in starting the engine and pulling out of the pack house driveway. The roads were deserted at this late hour with the moon high in the night. The only sound the soft hum of the engine as they sped towards their destination.

"Where are we going?" Olivia asked, her voice filled with apprehension as she turned to face Felix.

From the back seat, Calvin took a call.  "Yeah, we're on our way.  Just be patient, I don't-"

"Felix?" Olivia asked again.  He could smell the small bit of fear that intertwined with her scent.  It was the first time, he realized, that she wasn't biting his head off for keeping things secretive.

In a way, Felix felt bad for Olivia.  It was just two days ago that that thing broke into her home, turning her world upside down.  Not only had he acted like a typical territorial wolf just hours ago, he wasn't being transparent with her.  Something in his chest ached as he realized just how stupid it was to bring her along, but he knew it was also stupid to leave her at the pack house.

"I couldn't leave you back there," Felix admitted to no one but himself, his hands adjusting on the steering wheel.  "I don't trust my brothers,"

Or anyone else.

Olivia's eyes widened slightly at Felix's confession, her gaze flickering between him and the speeding road ahead. The tension in the car was palpable, especially as Calvin argued on the phone with Dante.  An older wolf and close family friend to the Vaughns'.

"You don't trust them?" Olivia repeated, her voice soft with disbelief.

Felix glanced at her briefly, her eyes were wide. "They can be... unpredictable," he admitted, his voice tight with emotion. "And sometimes, they don't think before they act."

"Turn right up here," Calvin said to Felix, then back to the conversation on the phone.  "Not you!  You're not even driving!"

"So where are we going?" She asked again, her voice wavering.  Olivia was clutching the door handle and her legs were tense.  When he made the turn on the road Calvin directed him to take, she clutched Felix's arm.  Then softer, she added, "If I don't die,"

"There's been another death," Felix let out a breath of air.  He felt bad for driving like a madman, but if traces of the killer weren't still around the scene, then it meant nothing to them.  "We didn't know someone was being targeted."

Olivia's brows furrowed, her gaze darting between Felix and the passing scenery outside. Her voice was small as she repeated him, "Another death?"

Felix nodded grimly, his grip on the steering wheel tightening. "Yeah," he confirmed, his voice heavy with sorrow and frustration. "We're heading there now.  Try to see if anything matches up to the other night,"

Olivia's expression turned somber, her features reflecting the gravity of the situation. "Do you think it's connected to the others? To me?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

"It's possible," Felix replied, his jaw set in a tight line. "But we won't know for sure until we get there."

The car fell into a tense silence as they continued their journey, now winding down dirt paths only created and known by those in the pack. Each passing moment only seemed to heighten the sense of unease that hung thick in the air, casting a shadow over their already troubled minds.  As they neared their destination, Felix's senses were on high alert, his instincts honed in on the task at hand.

He glanced at Olivia, her face illuminated by the soft glow of the dashboard lights, and felt a pang of guilt for dragging her further into this dangerous world.  But there was no turning back now. They were in this together, bound by circumstance and whatever fate the moon goddess threw at them.  Felix was determined to do whatever it took to get her back to her normal life.

"We're here," Felix announced as he brought the car to a stop.  Outside, the darkness seemed to swallow the surrounding landscape, casting an eerie pall over the scene.  Trees were so thick out around this area that Felix could only tell where they were based on the scents and small markings in the tree line.  Dante, a tall looming figure, stood near it.

Olivia's eyes widened as she looked through the windshield and took in their surroundings, "Where are we?"

"Pack boarders," Calvin clicked off his phone with a scowl, "Felix, I'm not your secretary.  Get someone else to make your calls."

Before Olivia unclicked her seatbelt, Felix reached over and placed a hand over it.  "You're staying in the car,"

"No way, I'm-" She faltered as she looked into his eyes.  They were full of defiance and stillness, something he liked about her.  He knew no one, wolf or human, would have the same amount of courage as she had shown him.  Felix knew that if anyone else were in her shoes, he'd probably would have dumped them long ago.

Olivia recognized the seriousness in his gaze, the weight of his words hanging heavy in the air. Reluctantly, she nodded.  She sat back in her seat and crossed her arms, the look of apprehension written all over her face.

"Okay," she relented, her voice barely above a whisper. "I'll stay here."

He knew that she wanted more than anything to figure out the puzzle that surrounded her life.  Her eyes were ablaze with determination, her resolve unwavering despite the fear that lingered beneath the surface. Felix couldn't help but admire her strength, her willingness to face the unknown head-on, even when it meant putting herself in harm's way.

Felix's grip on her seatbelt loosened, a faint smile tugging at the corners of his lips. "We won't be long,"

Calvin, already halfway out of the vehicle, pointed between Felix and Olivia to the glove box.  "If something happens, there's a gun in there,"

"A gun?" Oliva squeaked as she whirled on Calvin, her eyes looked like they could pop out of her head.  "I don't even know how to shoot a gun!"

"It's easy," Calvin said, opening his door.  "Point the barrel at the person who's attacking you and pull the trigger."

Olivia turned her head to Felix and her eyes pleaded with him.  Felix glanced at her, seeing the new found fear in her eyes as she hesitated. He wanted to reassure her, to tell her that everything would be alright, but he knew better than to make empty promises.

"You won't need it," he said, hoping his words would offer her some comfort. "We'll be back before you know it."

With one last reassuring glance, Felix released her seatbelt and climbed out of the car, his senses on high alert as he surveyed their surroundings. Calvin followed suit, his expression grim as he stepped out onto the forest floor. The weight of the situation settled heavily on his shoulders. Olivia's safety was his responsibility, and the thought of leaving her alone in the car filled him with unease. But there was no other choice. Calvin and he needed to investigate the area, and Olivia was safer waiting in the car than accompanying them into potentially dangerous territory.

It wasn't like the car wasn't safe.  It was one that many celebrities in the human world used with bulletproof windows, a sturdy exterior, the works. As long as she stayed in the car.

As he and Calvin made their way into the darkness, Felix couldn't shake the feeling of guilt gnawing at him. He hated leaving her like this, vulnerable and afraid, but there was no other choice.

You should've taken her with her, his wolf chided him.

Felix resisted the urge to roll his eyes.  She will be fine.

"Alpha, Beta," Dante nodded his head at them and shook both of their hands.

"Hey Dante," Calvin said, a little more tired than he probably meant.  "Show us what you found,"

Without further ado, they ventured deeper into the woods, Felix's senses were on high alert, every rustle of leaves and snap of twigs made him uneasy. He knew they were getting closer to the scene of the incident, the air thick with the smell of blood and that otherworldly scent. The faint glow of the moon cast eerie shadows across the forest floor, adding to the sense of foreboding that hung heavy in the air.

Despite the darkness surrounding them, Felix pressed on, his determination unwavering. He couldn't afford to cloud his judgment, not when Olivia's--and his pack's--safety was at stake. With each step forward, he reminded himself of his duty, to ensure that she, and his pack, made it out of this ordeal unharmed.

As they finally reached the scene of the incident, Felix's senses were on high alert, his gaze scanning the area for any signs of danger. Calvin's voice broke through the silence, snapping Felix back to reality as they began their investigation. They had a job to do, and Felix was determined to see it through to the end.

In the clearing, a body lay mangled and torn.  It was the worst murder he had seen out of the spree. The scent of blood and death assaulted his senses as he took in the gruesome scene before him.

The victim, a young woman with long, dishwater blonde hair, lay sprawled across the forest floor, her lifeless eyes staring blankly up at the sky. The unmistakable scent of death clung to her, mingling with the earthy aroma of the forest and the metallic tang of blood.  The otherworldly scent lingered, only slightly.

Felix's jaw clenched as he knelt beside the body, his hands hovering over her still form as he searched for any clues that might lead them to her killer. Calvin joined him, his expression grim as he surveyed the scene, his keen eyes scanning the area for any sign of the attacker.

"It looks like she was attacked from behind," Calvin observed, his voice low and somber. "These are the same cuts as Olivia and the others had.  But these aren't purposeful."

Felix nodded, his gaze narrowing as he examined the wounds more closely. "They're deeper, more vicious. It's as if..."

His voice trailed off as realization dawned on him, his heart sinking with dread. "It's as if the killer wasn't just trying to kill her... they were trying to send a message."

Calvin's eyes widened with understanding as he absorbed Felix's words, the weight of their implications settling heavily on his shoulders. "You mean..."

Felix looked at Dante, his eyes were grim as he beheld the girl.  "What do you know about her?"

"I found an ID on her," He replied, crouching down next to Felix.  "Lily Preston, age twenty-two, lives just outside Brookside.  I sent Luke back to try to find any other information on her. Found her on border patrol, but all the cuts looked and smelt fresh as if it had just happened."

He studied the cuts on the woman before him.  Three slashes, all equal in length cleaved all around her body.  It puzzled Felix to no end.  Wolves would normally leave four marks on someone if they decided to maim, which made him frustrated to feel so far from the truth.  These deaths were all similar and yet all different.

When he had come into contact with that creature in Olivia's apartment, it hadn't gone in for the kill like Felix would have expected it to.  It wanted Olivia.  Either to take her somewhere and kill her in its own sadistic way or for another reason.  A reason that made the gears in Felix's brain whirl with questions.

Don't be dumb, Eerbus barked. You see it too.

"They're looking for someone specific," Felix muttered.  "And they're willing to kill anyone who gets in their way."

Calvin's eyes widened with realization, his features contorted with anger and frustration. "You mean they're targeting us because we're getting too close to the truth,"

Felix nodded grimly, his jaw set in a tight line. "Exactly. They're sending a message, warning us to back off."

Calvin looked just as puzzled as Felix, "Who would they-"

But before Calvin could continue, a piercing scream shattered the stillness of the night, followed by the unmistakable sound of a gunshot echoing through the forest.

The two men looked at each other, eyes wide and hearts racing as they registered the sound. Without hesitation, Felix sprang into action, his instincts driving him forward as he sprinted back towards the car, Calvin close behind.

Felix's heart pounded in his chest. The thought of Olivia being in danger sent a jolt of fear through him, propelling him forward with renewed urgency. As he ran, his mind raced with a thousand possibilities, each one more terrifying than the last.

What if Olivia was hurt? What if he was too late to save her? The mere thought sent a surge of adrenaline coursing through his veins, pushing him to run faster, to reach her before it was too late.  He'd never forgive himself if something happened to her.

Another gunshot echoed and Felix welcomed the pain that jolted in his bones as he shifted.
