Toby's expression darkened at Eyeless Jack's words.
"Why the suspense? Just tell me." Toby leaned his arm against the door frame.
Eyeless Jack let himself come inside, and Toby rolled his eyes. Toby closed the bedroom door so Eyeless Jack could snoop on his sleeping wife.
Eyeless Jack was in the dark, loving room. He pulled down his hood, and his brown tufts of hair stuck out from behind his mask.
"Do you realize how difficult it is going to be to raise this child?"
Toby gave Eyeless Jack a blank look before responding.
"I'm not a baby expert, but I'm pretty sure all kids are difficult to raise."
"This one is different." Eyeless Jack said.
"No dip, Sherlock; it's Slenderman's baby; of course it's going to be different."
Eyeless Jack paused, letting the hum of silence and rain linger in the air for a bit. Toby sighed in realization. The stress was getting to him. Only one day until the baby was born. That's tommorow! His mind was filled with self-doubt about being a "dad" and all that responsibility on top of his "job." Toby slouched against the kitchen counter.
"Sorry," Toby said plainly, dragging a hand down his face.
"It's alright," Eyeless Jack said, looking out the window for a little bit. When the tension died down a bit, Eyeless Jack looked at Toby again. "I just want to help."
"I know, you said you wanted to help when she was in labor and stuff."
"I want to help more than that," Eyeless Jack added.
Toby gave Eyeless Jack a more puzzled look.
"What do you mean?" Toby asked.
Eyeless Jack sat on the sofa in a formal yet awkward position.
"I want to help care for the baby,"
Eyeless Jack clasped his charcoal-gray hands together and looked up at Toby. Toby's lips pursed as he was unsure of what the consequence would be of letting a baby near his cannibal coworker.
"You mean like a babysitter?" Toby questioned, looking at Jack directly.
Eyeless Jack nodded.
"I think it would be good to expose the baby to more than just two caretakers. That way, the baby isn't isolated."
The way that Eyeless Jack was speaking made him sound soft and loving, despite his rough appearance. Toby has never really gotten to see Eyeless Jack's walls come down to the point that he almost sounds vulnerable. Toby sighed.
"I'll talk to Y/N about it," Toby said, turning to walk back to the bedroom. He noticed the storm outside. "You can sleep on the couch; just don't get mud everywhere," Toby added as he went into the bedroom, locking the door behind him.
Eyeless Jack looked around Toby's home. There was obviously improvement in the way Toby lived just by the looks of the house. Eyeless Jack took off his jacket and boots, setting them nearly by the door. Eyeless Jack was genuinely excited.
The sun peeked through the curtains of the bedroom, filling the room with a warm light. Y/N's eyes slowly fluttered open to the sound of water dripping from outside. There was fresh rain outside, covering the grass with morning dew.
Y/N yawned. It was the morning of the eighth day, and Y/N's belly looked like it was about to pop. She sighed and shifted her position on the bed, trying to get a bit more comfortable.
Toby rolled over to face Y/N with a sleepy smile. He set a gentle hand on her stomach.
"Good morning," Toby murmured, sounding like he was on the verge of falling back asleep.
"Morning..." Y/N said.
She laid her hand on top of his. She traced the scars on his arm, making him feel like he was being lulled into sleep.
Toby groaned as he sat up and stretched. Though a few more hours of sleep sounded great, he wasn't going to let it get the best of him. Toby sat on the side of the bed for a moment before getting up and sluggishly putting a shirt on over his bandaged torso.
His shoulders shrugged, and he let out a whistle from his tics.
"It's too early for this," Toby stuttered, tying half his hair back with a random hair tie he found.
Y/N chuckled and sat up as well.
"Agreed," she said with a sigh.
Toby opened the bedroom door, and then he remembered: Eyeless Jack. There was a cannibal sleeping on their couch, and he had completely forgotten to tell Y/N until just now. He slowly turned toward Y/N, clearing his throat.
"Eyeless Jack is on our couch," Toby said bluntly.
"What? Why?" Y/N questioned.
"Well, uh, last night he tried to break in because of a bunch of stuff," Toby shrugged.
Y/N gave him a "what the fuck are you talking about" kind of look.
"What stuff?" Y/N asked.
"Like stuff about the baby; he wants to make sure you're okay." Toby gave an exaggerated smile with a thumbs up, which made Y/N pinch the bridge of her nose.
"Sure," Y/N said, getting out of bed and following Toby out of the room. The smell of breakfast hit her like a ton of bricks.
"Toby, did you make food?" Y/N asked.
Toby took a whiff of the air.
"No," he said, peeking into the kitchen.
There he was—Eyeless Jack. He was wearing a light blue apron, and he was furiously stirring a bowl of batter. Jack paused his stirring when he saw them walk in.
"Good morning...?" Toby said, taking in the suspiciously good smell that wafted out of the kitchen.
Y/N seemed to forget that Eyeless Jack was a sketchy guy, and she was immediately in love with the food he was making.
"What are you cooking?" She asked.
"Crepes," Eyeless Jack said, letting the batter rest as he thinly sliced some strawberries.
Y/N made an "OooOo" sound as Eyeless Jack chopped away. Toby was immediately jealous that the cannibal could cook and he couldn't. Toby narrowed his eyes.
"How the hell do you know how to make crepes?" Toby asked, crossing his arms defensively.
"A lot of stalking and some free time," Eyeless Jack replied, putting the strawberries on a plate as he started to fry up the actual crepes.
Toby huffed, very bothered, but Y/N was just excited for breakfast.
"It smells wonderful," Y/N remarked as she sat in a comfortable chair near the kitchen counter.
Toby couldn't deny it either; it did smell good, even if the food was made by the hands of a killer. The same killer wanted to babysit "his" kid. Toby crossed his arms, and Eyeless Jack looked up at him.
"Did you ask her?" Eyeless Jack asked Toby, his head tilting toward Y/N.
"Nope," Toby answered. "Why don't you ask her yourself, man?" He added with a slight smirk.
Sure, Y/N agreed to let Jack deliver the baby, but Toby totally expected Eyeless Jack to leave after. Eyeless Jack gave Y/N a nervous glance, even though his mask was expressionless. It was obvious he wasn't the best person, and a pregnant woman was the last person he needed to upset.
"I was wondering, if it's okay with you, if I could help take care of the baby sometimes. I could help when you have your hands full." Eyeless Jack asked, gripping the wisk in his trembling hand like a vice.
"How so?" Y/N questioned, tilting her head.
"I babysit and make sure baby healthy," Jack said in all one breath.
Toby let out a chuckle and Eyeless Jack quickly flipped the half-burnt crepe in the pan. Jack started to whip around the icing in the bowl. Y/N thought over her options.
"If these crepes taste good, I'll let you see the baby sometimes." Y/N smiled.
Toby's jaw dropped, and he looked at Y/N. He wanted to argue that the cannibal shouldn't be near the baby, but it was Y/N's baby. She was doing all the work, so what she says goes.
After half of a hungry hour, the crepes were finally done. The stacks of thin yet fluffy cake are held together by layers of sweet frosting and strawberries. Eyeless plated Y/N's food to look extra pretty, and he made Toby get his own because Jack is just that type of person. Jack stood there eagerly for Y/N's reaction to the breakfast that was served.
"It's really good," Y/N said with a mouthful of the yummy meal.
Eyeless Jack almost couldn't contain his excitement as she ate away at the food. Toby furrowed his eyebrows, stabbed into the stack of crepes, and took his own bite. He loathed how good it tasted—it was so good he took another bite.
While Toby and Y/N ate their meals, Eyeless Jack cleaned up the kitchen. He was good at cleaning up after himself due to the fact that he was a murderer who had to clean up evidence all the time. Y/N easily finished her stack of crepes with a content sigh. She placed a hand on her full stomach.
She felt a strong pressure, then a painful pop near her hips.
