and here he was covered in blood and surrounded by corpses of both allies and enemies, an image that reminded me of my old days as a king when I participated in a war.
"Is it my destiny to bring death and destruction wherever I go?" I thought to myself, questioning each of the events that brought me to this.
I heard a couple of footsteps approaching and turned around to see two figures slowly approaching me.
The first figure was Regis, my partner who supported me in my worst moment and prevented me from falling into madness as well as being one of the two people who always accepted me as I am.
My mind went to the other person who accepted me, Sylvie, the person who was always by my side, even more than my parents, whom I considered my daughter.
Even with access to the etheric realm, it was impossible for me to bring her back because there was a barrier that I could never overcome.
Diverting my attention I focused on the second figure, it was my friend from my old life Nico, his eyes seemed empty with no reason to live as he slowly approached.
"after what we went through I don't blame him" I thought as I closed my eyes the memories of that day came back to my mind... the day Agrona killed Cecil
He launched a major attack on Kezzes and his asuras in which I was forced to participate.
After fighting with all his might, Cecil managed to kill Kezzes, she showed a relieved expression only to be stabbed in the back by Agrona.
She knew that Cecil was strong and knowing that he couldn't keep his promise to return her and Nico to earth, she predicted that at some point Cecil would betray her.
So, taking advantage of the fact that she was weakened after the fight, he decided to eliminate her.... in front of nico
Using my last reserves of Aether I used God Step to carry the dying Cecil with Nico off the battlefield.
Despite my control of the ether I could only delay the inevitable, Cecil died in Nico's arms.
I could only see how Nico cried next to the body of his loved one, losing someone you love without being able to do anything is something that I have also experienced and I know how it feels.
After who knows how long he got up, I got into a fighting position but my eyes widened in surprise at Nico's action.
he proposed ally with me, he knew that sooner or later he would have to go for Agrona and he wanted to have his revenge.
I opened my eyes to see him "we won but at what cost" Nico commented "the earth is destroyed and even though there are some survivors the future seems dark"
He was right, after the multiple battles against the asuras the earth was on the brink of destruction, the land was infertile and the animals became extinct, it was only a matter of time before life disappeared.
"There is a way," Regis commented as he looked around.
"You know that that is risky and we don't even know if it will have any consequences or if it will even work" I questioned
"what are you talking about?" Nico asked without clearly understanding our conversation.
"basically go back in time" said Regis to which Nico's eyes widened in surprise.
"Can you do that?" he shouted as I saw a small sparkle in his eyes.
"*sigh* In theory yes, with the control I currently have over destiny it is possible but as I said we don't know if it will have consequences or even if it will work."
"What does it matter? Like Regis said, we have nothing to lose. Plus, I'll be able to see Cecil again," Nico said as he saw how his face was filled with joy at that possibility.
"about it, you won't be able to come with us."
"because?"
"Basically because you're not like us," Regis said.
"He is right, as I said, in theory it is possible to travel in time with destiny but you also need to have a connection with the ether" I said before looking back at Nico, who showed obvious sadness in his expression.
"Don't worry, I promise I will give you and Cecil the happy ending they deserved on earth."
"I know you will." He looked up at me and I noticed a slight glimmer of hope that he hadn't shown since Cecil's death.
I began to walk away from the field and at this action Regis joined my side
"What are you up to?"
"Just clearing my mind as well as planning what course of actions we are going to take."
"Excited to see your family again?" He asked with what I could see was a raised eyebrow.
I fell silent at the mention of my family.
Nothing has been the same since I told them about my past life.
I don't really blame them since their son, a prodigy, that they were so proud of turned out not to be the person they thought he was.
I clearly remember their expressions of fear, confusion, anger and one in particular which was like they wished it was just a joke.
Even though they tried to accept me when I returned from my training with the asuras, things were never the same again.
And everything got worse with the death of my father.
I didn't even show up at his funeral, I couldn't see my mother's face since it was my fault he died.
Is it wrong to want back that affection that only family gives?
"why don't you do both?" at that moment I realized that my thoughts were leaked when regis responded to me through our mental link
"what do you mean?" he asks, curious about my partner's question.
"what I mean is that you return with your asura body and at the same time without being Arthur"
My thoughts were racing at this opportunity to return to my family and at the same time give them a son that they will be proud of.
"you are a genius regis"
"and majestic, never forget the majestic" he said with an air of superiority
a smile forms on my face "come on we have a lot of things to do"

I'm on a cliff watching the last sunset of this god-forsaken world.

"ready?" Regis asked to which I could only nod my head before he jumped into my body and entered my core.
I activated my runes making runes appear all over my body except my face, before a flash surrounded me and everything went black, I looked around and there was nothing, just emptiness.
A slight hint of worry washed over me as I thought that the process had failed and I was now in who knows where or when, but it quickly dissolved when I saw the light at the end of the tunnel, which gave me hope again, only confirmed by the following words.
"Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Leywin, you are twins."
