Calypso left the meeting room and headed back down the hallway to where the others were waiting. She completely avoided looking at Cade. She couldn't stand to see how pissed he was with her.
Would he ever forgive her for this? She hoped so. Daniel seemed to think so. But she'd told him she couldn't trust him, which was complete and utter bullshit. She did trust him, but she realized that no, that wasn't true. She hadn't trusted him with this. She hadn't come to him, which she now realized was what she should have done. She should have been honest with him and told him exactly what was going on.
But at the time, she'd thought their relationship was over anyway, through no fault of her own, which had broken her trust in him. It was a series of events that had just gone completely wrong on so many different levels. And now, somehow, she had to repair it. If Daniel could get her out of this mess.
"Mr. Remington is ready for the meeting to begin," she said quietly.
Dominic and Stirling walked past her. Gray stopped in front of her, lifting a hand to her face. "Are you okay?"
She jerked back from him in shock. "What is wrong with you?"
He shot a glare at her. "You're my wife, Calypso. Act like it," he said in a low voice, meant for her ears alone.
She knew Cade had heard him though.
Gray walked past her, and Calypso held her breath. Cade would be the last one into the meeting. He walked by her without stopping, or even looking her way. She bit back her need to beg him for forgiveness. She would, just not yet.
Calypso grabbed what she needed from her desk, then headed back into the meeting room, closing the door behind her and taking her seat off to the side. She let her gaze move quickly over the men.
The Remington group was seated on the side near the door with Daniel in the middle, Dominic on one side of him, and Cade on the other. Dominic was the wild card. She knew nothing about him or how much he knew about what was going on here.
Sterling was seated across from Daniel, while Gray was on his right, and she was seated at a small table back in the corner. She hated sitting back there, but that was her place as Gray liked to frequently remind her. Behind him. Submissive. She had no desire to submit to him. But she'd submit to Cade all day long.
Her gaze darted over to Cade unbidden. He was beautiful, sitting there staring at Gray like he wanted to come across the table and beat him into the ground. For her. She let loose a small sigh and saw his gaze dart to her, meeting her own for a brief second before he looked away.
It killed her, watching him look away from her. She wasn't used to it, she realized. Typically, she had Cade's full attention, but right now, she didn't. He was too unsettled. She needed to go touch him and calm him down. But Cade wouldn't welcome it and Gray would know there was something between them.
"Mr. Hensley, I'd like to know why you're blackmailing Ms. Hensley." Daniel folded his hands in front of him on the desk.
Calypso's eyebrows shot up. Daniel hadn't wasted any time.
"You're what?" Sterling whipped around to stare at his son.
"I'm doing nothing of the sort. Calypso came here of her own free will," Gray said with a frown.
"Well that's funny because Daniel never said what you were blackmailing her about," Dominic spoke up and said.
"I.." Gray reached up to loosen his tie.
"You blackmailed her to come back here?! Explain. Now!" Sterling glared at him.
"I threatened to sue her for all the money I spent on her fertility treatments. I told her I'd have her tossed in jail," Gray muttered uncomfortably.
"And?" Daniel prompted.
"I also threatened her family," Gray admitted.
"What Infertility treatments?" Sterling asked.
"Calypso is unable to have children," Gray said quietly.
Sterling looked back at Calypso. "You told me she was on birth control. That she was getting a shot every so often."
"I um.. I lied." He left it at that.
Sterling stared at his son, a look of disgust on his face. "I cannot believe you."
"I never wanted to marry her in the first place. I only did it because you told me to. She never interested me. She's.. not my type. At all," Gray said.
"Why didn't you tell me that? I thought you were interested in her." Sterling glanced back at Calypso again.
Gray shrugged.
"He was not a good husband," Calypso spoke up. "He cheated on me throughout our entire marriage, and he still plans to."
Sterling looked back at Gray, his mouth hanging open. "I didn't raise you this way."
Gray scoffed. "Well Calypso was terrible in bed. I had to get sex somewhere else."
Calypso cringed at his words, and her gaze darted to Cade. She could see him white knuckling the chair. He knew the truth. "No Gray, you just didn't care. All you did was manipulate me. Over and over and over again. And you're still doing it now."
"And this is why I decided not to have children with you," Gray retorted.
"What?" What did that mean?
"Yes, please elaborate on that," Dominic spoke up. "You're lying about something."
"This is none of your business. This is my personal life with my wife. It doesn't concern Remington Enterprises," Gray argued.
"Oh but I think it does, Mr. Hensley. Why should we do business with a man who manipulates and blackmails his own wife? A woman I know personally, who you've put through hell. As it stands right now, I have no desire to have anything else to do with this company with Gray running the show. As a matter of fact, I will personally see to it that Hensley Industries falls." Daniel steepled his fingers together, a look of calm anger on his face.
"Mr. Remington, what can we do to keep in your good graces?" Sterling asked.
"Well you can start by telling us the truth about Ms. Hensley," Dominic said, sitting forward.
"I still don't think that's any of your business," Gray protested.
"Today, Mr. Hensley. I have a pregnant wife to get home to. The truth if you please," Dominic growled at him.
"Fine. There's nothing wrong with you, Calypso. It was an elaborate scheme on my part to keep you under my control and because I had no desire to have children with you," Gray finally grumbled.
His words were a shock to her system. It took her a full minute to process them, as she realized everything she'd known for the last few years had been a lie. She stood and hurried over to Gray, but strong arms came around her, stopping her from reaching him. "You selfish asshole! How dare you! You put me through hell!"
"Callie, it's okay." The words were whispered in her ear, but she could barely hear them. She was sobbing like a baby as it all came crashing down on her and she sank against Cade.
"Mr. Hensley, as long as your son remains at the helm of Hensley Industries, I will make it my personal mission to bring this company down. He is not to be trusted," Daniel told him.
"I understand, Mr. Remington. I will take care of it. I will also personally file the paperwork for the divorce. Calypso I am truly sorry to put you through this. I did encourage Gray to get back together with you, but I had no idea he was manipulating you like that. I'll have new paperwork drawn up. Will you be able to return to the office tomorrow morning to sign it?" Sterling asked.
"What about the fact that you told me I had to get back together with her in order to secure my inheritance?" Gray asked him.
"I thought you would be able to get back together with her and produce an heir since the woman you chose was a whore who was pregnant with another man's child. I didn't know what sort of a mess you had made the first time. I thought you had your shit together, but apparently you don't. You don't deserve this company. You don't deserve her. And you definitely don't deserve your inheritance. You will go call our attorneys and get them down here. We need to have a long discussion." Sterling turned his attention back to Daniel. "Would you be so kind as to allow Calypso to return with you to her hometown?"
"Of course," Daniel agreed.
Cade had finally let go of her, and Calypso wrapped her arms around herself.
"I will be in touch about the divorce," Sterling responded. "And the rest of it."
Daniel and Dominic both stood. Cade was still standing behind her, though he hadn't touched her again since he'd let go of her earlier. Calypso turned to him. He turned away from her, walking around the table, then followed them out of the meeting room.
