Sophie couldn't take her eyes off Elysian: She was so incredible, even more stunning than the Vackers. She made Fitz and Biana look like fat chickens next to her.
Nearly everyone in the room gasped in awe, well except Lady Gisela.
Elysian was tall, really, really tall, maybe even as tall as Sandor, her hair was a dark brown, curly and sprinkled with diamonds in so many different colours Sophie couldn't count. Just like Livvys. But unlike hers, Elysian's seemed to come naturally, as if they were part of her. Her big, round eyes were the most gorgeous shade of blue Sophie had ever seen; as darks as the depts of the ocean, so mysterious like the bright stars in the night sky, yet so clear innocent, like the freshest lightest water of a well. Her skin tone was dark in the shadows, looming and blending in like Tam, but so white shining in the sunlight, nearly translucent, like Biana when she half vanishes herself.
But the most beautiful part of her were her ears. Boy, were they beautiful. Sophie had never seen ears as sharp as hers before. They were so long that they curved behind, like the horns of a dragon.
"Gosh, you are beautiful!" Sophie gaped, earning nods from all her friends.
"Oh. My. God!" Biana suddenly appeared, swirling around Elysian, who, shocked, back away.
"Biana?! Weren't you supposed to go with Marella and Wylie and the others?? And how come you can vanish? All of our powers are gone!" Fitz shouted angrily turning brith red.
Biana just twisted her hair playfully, grinning evil at Fitz. "I might or might not have followed you. And in this place full of illusions, it is easy to vanish without being able to vanish. Maybe you know, maybe you don't!"
Lady Gisela suddenly clicked her tongue and spoke: "So, you look nothing like an elf. I suppose, maybe you are a failed project like our moonlark there, or a puzzle for me to be solved. You chose."
Hearing that, Elysian gave Lady Gisela the coldest glare before saying: "I think I'm just fine this way, thank you. And having you around trying to decipher me would be the biggest burden of all time."
This made Sophie think: Why wasn't Lady Gisela trying to top Sophie and the others from getting to Elysian too? Did she have some sort of masterplan? Did she know about Elysian, or was she as clueless as everyone else? It was impossible to tell be looking at her to-tight features.
"Who are you, anyways, well we are elves, as you can see." Keefe smirked.
Elysian sighed deeply. "You know, that crazy mother of yours isn't that wrong. But not that right, either. I am indeed a project, the oldest one ever to exist. But it went a bit too well. And now I am stuck here, for eternity, guarding the "Five Rivers of Time"."
"Wait, what is the "Five Rivers of-" Fitz started to ask, but Elysian cut him off.
"Tell me, all of you, what is the most important thing in the whole world to you?" Her voice suddenly changed, urging inside their minds.
"Power." Lady Gisela said, earning various eye-rolls.
"Family and friends." Sophie answered.
"Having each others back." Biana said.
"Honesty." Sophie hadn't expected Keefe to be so serious, but thinking of all the times he had been lied to, Sophie couldn't help but feel sorry for them.
"And there comes that wave of sympathy from Foster again!" Her friends all laughed, except for Fitz. Probably, because she and Keefe had "betrayed" him. But she noticed something else in his facial expression, like he was fighting with something.
Elysian seemed to have caught that too, because she looked, stared at him, before Fitz finally whispered: "Reputation."
