Later that night, Juliet recounted the date she had with Cameron to Adriana.
"Oh, it was perfect Adri! I mean he came to my house with a song playing and-"
"No shit, Julie." The girl laughed on the other end. "Who do you think helped him set that up?"
"What! You said you were sick. And I thought he was a nobody."
"Oh whatever. If my best friend likes someone, not much I can do but support you. Now skip to the actual date."
"Okay." The blonde giggled and started playing with her hair. "Well he took me to this radio store, right? And we looked around at all these old records before choosing one to listen to in the booth. God, it was so romantic."
"Sounds it. Then what?"
"Well I had actually geeked out on him one time about my art obsession. So embarrassing. But, we went to this art museum downtown."
"Anything mouth dropping there? I mean, besides his face?"
The blonde grinned at Adriana's words. "Actually, yes! There was this book about century old paintings and artists. It was amazing."
"Did you buy it?"
"Unfortunately, no. I didn't have enough money. But then we got ice cream and kissed!"
"Where?" She could envision the brunette's smile through the phone.
Juliet sighed dreamily. "In the car."
"...Never mind. That sounds amazing, babe. I'm so glad you've found someone so nice. Definitely an upgrade from Joey."
"Oh, don't even mention him." The girl said with a face. "A year dedicated to that bum. I still can't believe he cheated on me."
"Yuck, who cheats on a girl like you? Anyways, is Cameron gonna ask you to prom?"
"I hadn't even thought of that. I don't need anything big, just asking will do."
"Please!" Adriana laughed loudly. "You're Juliet Chilton. If a boy like him doesn't go above and beyond, he's beyond stupid."
"I'm sure he will, if he wants to."
"Oh, I'll make him. Trust me."
Juliet began to laugh as she rested her head on a pillow. "Please, you're as threatening as a puppy. But I better get to sleep, I'll see you tomorrow?"
"Love ya."
•••••••
"So, you ready for prom tomorrow?" Cameron asked hesitantly during art history.
Juliet nodded excitedly. "Yes! I've had my dress picked out since like, third grade. You?"
"Oh, yeah. Just waiting on a date..."
The blonde raised an eyebrow and looked at the boy. "Right."
The two sat in silence for a moment before the bell rang.
"Well," the girl said with an awkward smile, "see ya around. I guess."
Rushing to her locker, Juliet couldn't hide her disappointment.
Waiting on a date. Seriously?
When opening her locker, the first thing the girl noticed was a book. The same that she had wanted on her latest date.
Beside it was a single rose and a note that read;
You're my own piece of art, will you be a rose and accompany me to prom?
- Cameron James
The blonde smiled widely and turned to see the boy by her side.
"So?" He asked with a small smile.
Juliet wrapped her arms around the Cameron's neck as his hands fell to her waist. "Of course." She whispered into his ear.
They pulled apart as the girl pecked the boys cheek and walked away to her next class.
All she could think about from there was prom night.
