It was a lazy Sunday afternoon, and Joshua decided it would be a good day to make pizza at home. Of course, with Seokmin in his little space, things were bound to get a bit chaotic—but Joshua figured it would be a fun activity for the both of them. How hard could making pizza together be?
Joshua stood at the counter, laying out all the ingredients: dough, sauce, cheese, and a variety of toppings. Seokmin, sitting on a stool nearby, was swinging his legs back and forth, eyes wide with excitement. In his lap was his trusty Pochacco plushie, who was apparently there to supervise.
“Okay, baby,” Joshua said with a warm smile, “we’re gonna make the best pizza ever. Ready?”
Seokmin clapped his hands, nearly sending Pochacco flying. “Yes, daddy! Can we make it extra cheesy? I like cheese a lot.”
Joshua chuckled, nodding as he grabbed a handful of shredded mozzarella. “Extra cheesy it is.”
Seokmin hopped off his stool, eyes glued to the toppings spread out on the counter. “Ooooh, can I put the toppings on?” he asked, already reaching for a bowl of sliced mushrooms.
Joshua nodded, handing Seokmin the bowl. “Of course, but first, we need to spread the sauce on the dough.”
Seokmin pouted slightly, clearly more interested in the toppings, but nodded. “Okayyy,” he mumbled, grabbing a spoon and scooping a mountain of pizza sauce.
Joshua blinked. “Uh, baby, maybe not so much—”
But it was too late. Seokmin dumped an impressive amount of sauce onto the middle of the dough, splattering a bit on the counter—and himself. “Oops!” Seokmin giggled, looking up at Joshua with wide, innocent eyes.
Joshua shook his head, laughing softly. “It’s okay, let’s spread it out together.”
They worked together to spread the sauce, though Seokmin’s little hands made it a bit more… abstract. There were patches of dough still peeking through and others where the sauce was practically drowning, but Joshua let it slide. This was supposed to be fun, after all.
“Now for the cheese!” Seokmin exclaimed, grabbing the bowl of mozzarella and dumping it all onto the pizza without hesitation.
Joshua’s eyes widened. “Wow, that’s… a lot of cheese.”
Seokmin beamed up at him. “You said extra cheesy!” he pointed out, clearly proud of his work.
Joshua couldn’t argue with that, so he just smiled and patted Seokmin’s head. “You’re right, baby. It’s gonna be the cheesiest pizza ever.”
“Yay!” Seokmin cheered, bouncing on his toes. “Now toppings! Can Pochacco help?”
Joshua chuckled, glancing at the plushie. “Sure, Pochacco can help too. What do you want to put on next?”
Seokmin picked up a slice of mushroom, holding it up to Pochacco as if the plushie was giving approval. “Pochacco says mushrooms are good!” he declared, before enthusiastically tossing them onto the pizza. Most of the mushrooms landed on the pizza… some didn’t.
Joshua grinned, watching as Seokmin happily scattered toppings—peppers, mushrooms, and what seemed like a whole family of olives. “Careful, baby, we want to make sure they all stay on the dough,” Joshua reminded gently as an olive rolled off the counter.
Seokmin giggled, quickly picking it up and plopping it back onto the pizza. “It’s okay, daddy! It’s a little runaway olive.”
Joshua couldn’t help but laugh. “Runaway olive, huh?”
“Yeah!” Seokmin nodded seriously. “But I caught it.”
Once they finished with the toppings, Joshua carefully slid the pizza into the oven. “Now we just wait for it to bake, okay?” he said, turning the oven timer on.
Seokmin’s face fell a little. “Wait? But I’m hungry now, daddy…” He pouted, looking up at Joshua with big, puppy-like eyes.
Joshua leaned down and kissed Seokmin’s forehead. “I know, baby, but it won’t take long. In the meantime, we can clean up a little.”
Seokmin groaned dramatically, crossing his arms. “Nooooo, I don’t wanna clean! I wanna play.”
Joshua laughed, seeing the pout deepen. “How about this—if we clean up together, we can play with your coloring books after. Deal?”
Seokmin’s eyes lit up at the mention of coloring. “Really?!”
Joshua nodded. “Really. We can even watch Paw Patrol while the pizza bakes.”
Seokmin squealed in delight. “Okay, okay! I’ll clean!” He eagerly grabbed a towel and began wiping the counter, though in his little space, “cleaning” meant pushing sauce around more than actually wiping it up. But Joshua didn’t mind. He smiled, helping tidy up as Seokmin hummed happily to himself.
Once the kitchen was semi-clean, Joshua set up a little coloring station for Seokmin in the living room. They sat together, coloring and laughing while Paw Patrol played softly in the background. Every now and then, Seokmin would glance toward the kitchen, his stomach grumbling in anticipation.
“Is it ready yet?” Seokmin asked for the tenth time, giving Joshua a hopeful look.
Joshua chuckled, glancing at the timer. “Almost, baby. Just a few more minutes.”
Finally, the timer beeped, and Seokmin jumped up excitedly. “Pizza time!” he yelled, running to the kitchen with Joshua following close behind.
Joshua carefully pulled the pizza out of the oven, setting it on the counter. It was a bit lopsided, the cheese was practically spilling over the sides, and some of the toppings had migrated during baking, but it was their pizza. And Seokmin’s face lit up like it was the most perfect thing he’d ever seen.
“It’s so pretty!” Seokmin gasped, bouncing up and down. “Can we eat now?”
Joshua smiled, grabbing a pizza cutter. “Of course, baby. Let’s dig in.”
They sat together at the table, plates full of their creation. Seokmin took a big bite, cheese stretching between his lips and the slice.
“Mmmm! It’s yummy, daddy!” Seokmin said through a mouthful of pizza, his face glowing with pride.
Joshua smiled softly, taking a bite himself. It was messy, over-the-top cheesy, and chaotic—but it was delicious. “You did a great job, baby.”
Seokmin giggled, munching away happily. “We’re the best pizza makers ever!”
Joshua couldn’t help but agree. Pizza-making with Seokmin might have been messy, but with his sunshine by his side, it was the most fun Joshua had had in a long time.
I'm sorry for mentioning pochacco too much but it's my favourite sanrio character and seokmin is just so pochacco coded. Ohh i also mentioned paw patrol here 😩
