Y/N lay on the bed, staring at the ceiling, Taehyung's words swirling in their mind like a storm. I can't keep pretending when this feels so real. The truth was, they couldn't either. The lines between their fake relationship and their real feelings had blurred so much, it was hard to tell where one ended and the other began.
But could they really risk it? Could they let this fake relationship turn into something real and deal with the consequences? The pressure from the media, the expectations, the fear of it falling apart—it all weighed heavily on Y/N's chest.
The hours passed slowly, the sun setting outside, casting long shadows across the room. Y/N sat up, their heart still pounding as they replayed Taehyung's words over and over. They needed clarity, but the more they thought about it, the more confused they became.
Finally, they stood up, feeling the need for fresh air. Maybe a walk would help clear their head.
As Y/N stepped into the lobby, they spotted Taehyung sitting on one of the couches, looking lost in thought. He hadn't noticed them yet, his face illuminated by the soft glow of his phone screen. For a moment, Y/N hesitated, unsure whether to approach him. But then, as if sensing their presence, Taehyung looked up, his eyes meeting Y/N's.
He didn't say anything, just gave a small, tentative smile, as if waiting for Y/N to make the first move.
Taking a deep breath, Y/N walked over and sat down next to him. "I needed some air," they said softly.
Taehyung nodded, not pushing them for more. The silence between them was thick with unspoken emotions, but it was more comfortable than Y/N had expected. After a moment, Y/N spoke again, their voice barely above a whisper.
"I've been thinking about what you said earlier... about this not being an act anymore."
Taehyung turned to face them fully, his expression serious but hopeful. "And?"
Y/N's heart pounded as they searched for the right words. "I don't know if I'm ready for all of this to be real," they admitted. "But I also don't think I can keep pretending either. I've tried to convince myself that this is just a game we're playing, but... it's not. Not anymore."
Taehyung's gaze softened, and he reached out, gently taking Y/N's hand. "I know it's scary," he said quietly. "But we don't have to figure everything out right now. We can take it slow. I just... I don't want to lose you. Not because we're afraid of what might happen."
Y/N looked down at their joined hands, feeling the warmth of his touch. The fear was still there, lurking in the back of their mind, but Taehyung's words soothed some of the anxiety. Maybe they didn't need to have all the answers right now. Maybe they could just take it one step at a time.
"I'm scared too," Y/N admitted, their voice barely above a whisper. "But I don't want to lose you either."
Taehyung smiled, a genuine, soft smile that made Y/N's heart flutter. "Then let's stop pretending," he said, his voice low but certain. "Let's figure this out together. No more acting."
Y/N nodded slowly, their chest tightening with a mix of fear and relief. They weren't sure where this would lead, but for the first time, they felt like they weren't alone in the uncertainty.
Just as the moment between them deepened, Taehyung's phone buzzed again, cutting through the silence. He glanced at the screen and sighed.
"Of course," he muttered, shaking his head. "It's my manager again."
Y/N raised an eyebrow. "What now?"
Taehyung frowned, his expression turning serious. "They want us to do another public appearance tomorrow. Apparently, the buzz from the interview has everyone talking, and they want to keep the momentum going."
Y/N's stomach twisted. Another public appearance meant more cameras, more eyes on them, more pressure to keep up the façade they had just agreed to stop pretending about.
Taehyung seemed to sense their hesitation and gently squeezed their hand. "We'll get through it. Together. Just like we said."
Y/N took a deep breath, nodding. "Okay. Together."
As they stood up, heading back to their rooms to prepare for the next day, Y/N couldn't shake the feeling that things were only going to get more complicated from here. But for now, they had made a decision—to stop pretending and face whatever came next.
And no matter what happened, they would face it together.
To be continued...
