Alex’s Apartment, Later That Night

Back at his penthouse, Alexander can’t shake the memory of the gunshot, the flash of terror he felt thinking Siya might’ve been hurt. He pours himself a drink, but it does nothing to ease the lingering tension. He paces, reliving the events of the evening.

Alexander: (thinking) Who would dare attack me in public? But… why am I more shaken by the thought of Siya getting hurt than my own safety?

He realizes the depth of his emotions. This isn’t about attraction or a passing infatuation. It’s love! pure love!, consuming love that terrifies and excites him in equal measure.

Alexander: (whispering to himself) "Siya… I think I really do love you."

An unexpected joy fills him, washing away the day’s stress. He smiles, feeling a warmth he’s never experienced. For once, he’s found something or someone that brings meaning to his life beyond money, power, or fleeting pleasures.

Yet, beneath this happiness, there’s a dark reminder that his world is dangerous, and he’s just exposed Siya to that danger.

Institute, The Next Morning

Alexander arrives at the institute early, eager to see Siya, his heart racing with the anticipation of being near her. As she walks into the classroom, she offers him a warm, relieved smile.

Siya: "Alex! I was worried after what happened yesterday. Are you okay?"

Alexander: (smiling gently) "I should be asking you that, Siya. But… yeah, I’m alright."

There’s a moment of silence as they look at each other, a new intensity in Alexander’s gaze. He wants to tell her everything, that he’s more than just a simple student, that his life is filled with secrets and dangers, but he hesitates!

Siya: "Thank you… again. I don’t know what I’d have done without you there."

He smiles, realizing he’d do anything to keep her safe, even if it means hiding the truth of his feelings, for now.

The Derlyn Group Headquarters – Alexander’s Father’s Office

Alexander steps into his father’s large, minimalist office. His father, Charles Van Derlyn, is seated behind a mahogany desk, his gaze stern and calculating. Charles is a man of few words, with a sharp mind for business and little patience for distractions. He motions for Alex to sit across from him, the tension palpable in the room.

Charles: (leaning forward) “An attack in broad daylight, Alex? This isn’t a game. I need you to tell me everything about what happened yesterday. That attack wasn’t random.”

Alexander: (nodding) “It caught me off guard. Whoever they were, they knew where I’d be. I can’t shake the feeling that it was personal.”

Charles's eyes narrow, considering the implications.

Charles: “Exactly. This was no ordinary threat. I’ll have our security team dig deeper, but in the meantime, I need you to be vigilant. Don’t trust anyone outside the family.”

Alex nods his head.

Charles sensing his son’s distracted mind.

Charles: "You’re not acting like yourself lately. A girl, I presume? Our guards informed me, you were with a girl at cafe. Don’t let your emotions make you weak, Alexander."

Alexander stiffens, knowing his father would never understand his feelings for Siya. To him, emotions are vulnerabilities, distractions from the ruthless pursuit of power.

Alexander: "You don’t have to worry. I can take care of myself… and the people I care about."

Charles's gaze sharpens, a warning glint in his eyes.

Charles: "Just remember where your priorities lie. Love is a liability in our world."

Just as Charles finishes speaking, Vincent Van Derlyn, Charles’s younger brother and Alex’s uncle, enters the room. Vincent, with his casual charisma and supportive demeanor, has always been Alex’s confidant and ally. He looks visibly concerned as he takes a seat next to Alex, placing a reassuring hand on his shoulder.

Vincent: “Alex, I just heard about the incident. Are you alright?”

Alexander: (smiling slightly) “Yeah, I’m fine, Uncle Vincent. Just… rattled.”

Vincent looks relieved but still worried. Unlike Charles, Vincent has always encouraged Alex’s freedom and carefree lifestyle, often joining him in light-hearted adventures and supporting his decisions without judgment.

Vincent: “Good, that’s a relief. You’ve always lived life on your terms, and that’s something I admire. But this… this is serious. Someone targeted you directly, Alex. I don’t like the sound of it.”

Charles's face hardens as he glances between his brother and son.

Charles: “Vincent, this isn’t a matter of admiration. Alex’s lifestyle may be… reckless, but this incident was likely triggered by something deeper. Family ties, perhaps.”

Vincent raises an eyebrow, shifting his attention back to Alex, his voice gentle but urging.

Vincent: “Charles may be right. Alex, is there anything—any recent business dealings, maybe—where you might have made an enemy?”

Alexander: (pausing) “Nothing out of the ordinary. I’ve been… keeping things quiet lately.”

Vincent studies Alex for a moment, then speaks up, his voice supportive yet serious.

Vincent: “You know, Alex, I’ve always wanted you to enjoy life. But maybe this is a sign to be a little more cautious, especially with people who aren’t close to us.”

Charles: (firmly) “I don’t care how quiet you think things have been. Whoever did this had a clear agenda. You’re my son, Alex, and this family’s future is intertwined with yours. I’ll not see that jeopardized.”

Vincent’s expression softens, and he leans forward, his voice low but filled with concern.

Vincent: “Alex, if you need anything or even if you just need someone to talk to....you know I’m here. Whatever this turns out to be, don’t forget you’re not alone in this.”

Alex nods, feeling grateful for his uncle’s unwavering support. He’s always looked up to Vincent as more than just an uncle.....he’s a friend, and someone who truly understands him in a way his father never has.

Alexander: (determined) “I appreciate it, Uncle Vincent. I’ll stay on guard. And, Dad… I’ll do what I can to get to the bottom of this. I know how important the family’s safety is to you.”

Charles gives a slight nod, his expression unreadable, while Vincent squeezes Alex’s shoulder reassuringly.

Vincent: (smiling faintly) “Good. And hey, don’t let this change you too much, alright? We still need that Alex who’s got a spark for life. Just be a little wiser about who you let close.”

Alexander feels the weight of their words as he stands, glancing back at his father and uncle. He’s more determined than ever to uncover who was behind the attack. And for the first time, he realizes he might have more to protect than just his own interests.

Alexander’s Penthouse, Night

That night, Alexander sits alone, reflecting on his father’s words. He knows the dangers, the risks of letting Siya into his life, but he can’t deny his feelings anymore.

In his mind, he replays her voice, her smile, the way she looked at him with trust and gratitude after the attack.

Alexander: (thinking) I’ve tried to live by my father’s rules, to ignore my emotions. But Siya… she’s different. She’s worth risking everything for.

Finally, he makes a decision. He’ll keep Siya close, protect her from any threats, but he won’t give up on this chance at love, no matter the consequences.

As he stands by the window, staring out at the city lights, he feels a new sense of purpose. Siya has changed him, awakened a part of him he thought was lost. And for her, he’s willing to defy anyone....even his own family!!
