With the DVD in your pocket, Makoto started to stray from the A/V room. It was obvious he was trying to avoid watching it, doing everything he possibly could on the way there.
First, you two went into the trash room. You had never actually been in the trash room, so you studied it as much as you could.
There was a large metal gate that separated you from the incinerator. Between you and the gate was a metal hatch, a yellow padlock keeping it closed.
"It's the end of the line. The trash room..." Letting out a yelp, you turn around at the unknown voice. Your surprised face returns to one of annoyance when you see a certain monotoned bear.
"This is where all the trash in school eventually ends up! Well... except for
(Y/n) trash, that's for my secret collection!" Makoto leans closer to you, chest practically pressed against your shoulder as he glared at the bear. "Can't be all that secret of your telling us about it..."
Letting out a huff you take a step closer to the stuffy. "How do we get the gate open?" The bear started to shake its head, waving his arms back and forth in an 'X' formation. "No no no! No entry beyond this point! Only the person on cleaning duty is allowed in!"
Your lips part slightly in disbelief, looking down at him with furrowed brows. "Wh- but this is for the investigation? How are we supposed to make a correct conclusion without all the evidence?!" The bear paused for a second before it started to shake its head again. "No no no! No entry beyond this point! Only the person on cleaning duty is allowed in!"
A hand on your shoulder lets you know that Makoto also walked closer to the bear, taking a much more gentle approach. "Well, who's on cleaning duty?" Once again, the bear gave you the same response. "No no no! No entry beyond this point! Only the person on cleaning duty is allowed in!"
And just like that, he was gone, leaving you red in the face with anger.
Letting out a huff, you make your way out of the trash room. Unfortunately, you came across Byakuya. Like always, he was doing nothing useful. You decided to give Makoto the displeasure of talking to him. "Byakuya, can you tell me anything about cleaning duty?"
His nose scrunched up in disgust, tilting his head back and looking down at you two. "...No." His lips parted to say something else, but you didn't give him the chance. Taking Makoto by the hand you walk away from him as fast as possible.
Seeing Taka, you decided he would be a good person to ask about the trash room. Standing in front of him you wait for Makoto to ask him the same question. You turn to look at him when he doesn't say anything, seeing his eyes directed at your hands held together with a slightly red face.
Letting out a scoff, you took your hand away. Jeez...He's like a middle school with his first crush. "Taka, do you know who has cleaning duty?" He raised one of his fluffy eyebrows. "Cleaning duty, eh? As a matter of fact, Monokuma came and talked to me yesterday morning!"
Your eyes lit up slightly, glad you were finally getting somewhere with this whole trash room thing. "So, you're on cleaning duty, then?" He suddenly seemed slightly embarrassed, looking away from you. "Actually... no. Hifumi was also there when we had this conversation. He volunteered right away, so I let him have it!"
Nodding your head, you flashed him a quick smile. "Alright, thanks for the information!" Running back into the direction of the doors, you could spot Hifumi. "Hey, Hifumi!" Yelling across the hall, he turned to look at you.
"You're on cleaning duty, right?" Hifumi put his hands on his hips, raising a brow with a comically smug face. "Cleaning duty? As a matter of fact, that's me. Why do you ask?"
You tilted your head slightly closer to him, an excited smile on your face. "So you can open the gate in the trash room, then?" Hifumi puts one fist on his heart like he was swearing to you. "Of course! It's my job to gather up all the garbage and toss it in the trash room!" Letting out a huff, letting yourself relax more as the three of you head back to the trash room.

The gate to the incinerator was finally open, Hifumi awkwardly standing on the side while you looked around. "Mr. Naegi... surely you aren't planning to use the trash room to destroy evidence, are you?!" You look at the guy out of the corner of your eyes, raising a brow at his stupidity.
Letting out a sigh, you rubbed your eyes and ignored the conversation the two had as you studied your surroundings while Makoto tried to explain himself.
Walking closer, you were about to lean over to look inside the incinerator only to feel a puff of warm air against your skin. Waking away, you saw from a distance that the incinerator was on. Looking over at the panel with two large buttons, one red and one yellow, your eyes wandered to a broken crystal ball on the floor in front of the panel.
Letting out a hum as your brain started to get to work, already piecing together what happened. Stepping closer to the panel, you stopped when you didn't hear the sound of your foot hitting the floor. Looking down, you saw something small and white under your shoe.
You step off of it and crouch down, picking up the white cloth and inspecting it. You stand back up and walk over to Makoto. "Hey, Makoto?" He turns away from Hifumi, facing you now. "Do you have a shirt on under your hoodie?" His face flushes slightly at the question of if he wore something under his hoodie. "Um... no?"
Nodding your head, you put the sleeve part in your pocket. "Good. I've looked around enough, I'm ready to leave when you are." He walked around the room for a few seconds before giving you a nod as he started to walk out of the room.
For once, you were following him as he led you to the dining hall. After having a rather quick and meaningless conversation with Hina, you two walked into the kitchen. Ignoring the piles of fruits and vegetables, you watched as Makoto's eyes were directed past it, at the knife stand. Seeing that the second largest knife was gone, you spoke up. "Hm, we should go ask Hina if she knows something about that."
He nodded his head, letting you take the lead as you walked back over to Hina. "Hey, do you know anything about the missing knife in the kitchen?" She crosses her arms over her chest, puffing out her cheeks with a confused look. "Yeah, weird huh? I thought it was kinda strange, a knife just suddenly disappearing like that. When I went to go get tea from the kitchen last night, all the knives were still there! But after I finished my tea, I went back into the kitchen to wash my cup, and the knife was gone!"
Walking out of the dining room, Makoto started to head towards the gym. "I wanna talk to Hiro about the crystal ball I found in the trash room." He pulled a large piece of the crystal ball from out of his pocket to show you, causing you to nod your head in understanding.
It took a few seconds to slap Hiro out of the hysteria he was in at the moment, and all you could do was hope it was worth your time.
Makoto showed Hiro the shattered piece of the crystal ball he picked up. "Does this look familiar?" Hiro let out a horrified gasp, flailing his arms around. "That's my crystal ball! But it's smashed! What the hell... I-I only bought it cause the guy said it was blessed! He said it was unbreakable! Was that seriously a lie?!"
Makoto gave you a worried glance, waving his hand away and putting the piece back in his jacket pocket. "Let's... put that aside for now. So you're saying this belonged to you?" Hiro let out a sigh, looking away with a sad look. "Yeah, that's mine for sure... I probably forgot it in the laundry room last night." Makoto thanked Hiro before walking out, finally making his way towards the A/V room.
Pulling the DVD out of your pocket, you placed it nervously over to Makoto. "Are you... sure you wanna watch? You don't know what could be on here, it could make you feel even worse." He shook his head, looking at you with a sad smile.
"Thanks for the offer. But I need to know everything if I want to give Sayaka justice for her death." Letting out a sigh, you nodded your head, placing the DVD into the player. There was only one port for the headphone jack to go into, so only one of you could actually listen to the video. Obviously, you gave the headphones to Makoto.
Sitting next to him, you watched the black screen flick on. A bright picture was plastered onto the screen, Sayaka at the center in a pretty white outfit. Around here were other girls in similar outfits, obviously her bandmates. After a few seconds, the screen glitched back into static before the same image, just without Sayaka.
The image flicks to one where all the band members are lying unmoving on the floor, the background now red. The screen in the center flicked on, a familiar bear's face plastered on. Then the screen went back to black, orange words on the screen. 'Look for the answer after graduation!' Makoto's face twisted into one of disgust. "W-What the hell...?"
He threw the headphones off his head, backing away from the screen slightly. "What kind of person would take things that far?!" You quickly moved back to his side, putting a hand on his shoulder. Just as you were about to comfort him, you heard the terrifying bell sound, putting you right back when you first found Sayaka's body.
"Erm, so ah... I'm getting tired of waiting. What say we just get started, hm? It's time for the long-awaited Class Trial! Now then, allow me to appoint a proper location for the proceedings. Please go through the red door on the first floor of the school! See you soon..." A shiver rolled up your spine at the creepy sign-off.
Taking in a deep breath you look at Makoto. "I know you're upset, but you have to get a hold of yourself. If you don't want everyone to die, you need to get up so we can prove your innocence." You point a finger to his chest, demanding him to get up.
He looked up at you, nodding his head and following you to the specified location.
Opening the red door, you were greeted with all of your classmates staring at you two. "You're late! We've all been waiting for you two." Taka trusted his arm at you two, pointing an accusing finger at you both. A few feet away, you heard an unmistakable mumbling voice. "I bet
h-he was afraid he would be discovered as th-the murderer he is..."
Glaring at her, you prepared to defend your newfound friend until the voice of Monokuma rang through the room. "Is everyone here? Okay then... please board the elevator in front of you, which will transport you to the courtroom... where all your fates will be decided... I'll meet you there, I'll be waiting..." You silently wondered to yourself if he always signed off like that.
You all boarded the elevator, enough room for you all to have space. There was a low squealing noise, the metal gate holding you in the elevator occasionally scraping against the stone walls encasing you.
The elevator came to a halt, your footing wobbling slightly from the sudden stop. The doors opened slowly, allowing you a look into the rather obnoxious courtroom.
This was where your fates would be decided.
