Percy Jackson and the Battle of Truth or Dare

Percy (Part Two)

Percy's POV
"You don't blame me?" I growled.
"Yeah I don't blame you for making me feel like I'd be a freak here." Skylar said sweetly
I exhaled sharply and crossed my arms, "And why would you blame me for that? I don't even know you."
Skylar pushed gently until Nathan was next to her. "you don't know me but Hades knows you."
I laughed harshly. "Yeah and? The guy hates me big whoop."
Skylar frowned at me. "Well he cursed me. That's the big whoop. He asked Apollo to look into the future and he saw me part of a war with his sons with you on my side. He was going to curse you but being Poseidon's favorite, our dad told him to curse me instead."
The color had drained out of me by then. All eyes were on me and ai felt awful.
"I--i didn't know--"
Skylar smiled. "It's okay. I said I don't blame you. That's just something that they'd do."
I chewed my lip while everyone stared at me. I cleared my throat and asked, "So about this war?"
Skylar laughed. I found that strange but she ended up saying, "The war was some game called Capture the Flag and I had the flag and Hade's sons tried to stop me from from getting it over the border. Ares threatened Apollo to make it seem like all that, thought it would start a war. Ended up starting nothing."
My eye twicthed. This girl...after all she had been through! She was smiling! And she looked genuinely happy. The gods cursed her over something so stupid! Yet she wasn't complaining.
Skylar stopped laughing and cleared her throat. "Hey," she said. "It isn't that bad."
Chiron called laight out and everyone rushed out of the room to their Cabins.
Nico winked at the broken down girl (no wonder he liked her. He saw right through her right into her pain) and showed Nathan to his cabin. That left me and Skylar alone in the room.
Skylar picked up a pillow and tossed it on the floor. She started to get comfortable.
"Um, you get a bed you know."
Skylar looked up at me." I thought you wouldn't want me to have one."
I sat down next to her. "I'm really sorry." I said quietly in case the harpies were outside.
Skylar swallowed and smirked down at the floor. "I ended up being favored over any of Hades sons. Hades ended up blessing me, trying to make up for the curse he put on me. He likes me, because even though my mom is dead, even though I have no home, even though I've gone through a lot, I still keep going with a smile on my face. I help others. If there ever is a time where I have to choose between my happiness and someone else's I always pick the other person's. Always."
I studied her, how she rested her chin on her knees, how she seemed so happy but her eyes...her eyes where the big give away. They weren't like mine, they were brown but at the same time they were a thousand other colors. She had dark caramel skin and dark drown hair with faint natural highlights. She looked nothing like the ideal Posenidon child. She had gotten everything form her mother. Who was now...dead.
That's when I knew I had to man up. I put my arm around her and pulled her in close.
"I promise," I said to her softly. " I promsise to always be there for you. To protect you and to always stay strong if you ever can't."
Skylar smiled and tears stared to trickle out.
I hugged her then asked, "Wait but what is the curse?"
She studied me, as I had studied her, and then said, "Do you promise not to tell anyone? Only Nathan knows about my curse and blessing. Since I know his and all."
"I promise--wait Nathan got blessed to?"
"No."
Skylar got on her knees. She leaned in close and whispered in my ear. "I can see when and how people die."
I looked at her schocked but not in horror. "How does it work?" I asked.
Skylar looked at me and began to explain. Her eyes would glow white and she'd see a vision of someone she knew or had seen before dying and when. It usually only happened when the person was near to death. She couldn't really control it. And if she tried to say anything to anyone about her vision she's be struck with pain the person dying was feeling until the person died. She, however wouldn't die. It didn't do her any good anyway. She couldn't prevent it and she was silenced if she tried to speak.
I felt horrible. She had so much pain in her yet she still kept smiling. I decided to cheer her up so I asked about her blessing.
A crooked smile, a real one with real happiness in her eyes, appeared. She stood up and melted into the shadows of the room. A couple moments later she appeared with two platters of cake. And both cakes were blue.

(6 months later)
One day my sister Skylar and Nico's brother Nathan joined us for a game of truth or Dare.
We let Skylar go first.
"Nico, truth or dare?"
Nico started at her dreamily and said dare.
Pier ton one look at Skylar and Nico and said, "Wow Nico you really a really are gaga for Sky here."
Nico blushed angrily and said, "WHAT? NO I'M NOT!! "
Skylar smirked and said, "I dare Nico to say "ga" before every word he says for the rest of the day."
Nico forwned and opened his mouth to say something but Skylar put her finger on his lips and said, "Rember the dare okay?"
Nico blushed even more and started talking, "Ga-I ga-hate ga-you ga-but ga-i ga-think ga-you're ga-pretty ga-and ga-my ga-type. Ga-will ga-you ga-like ga-to ga-go ga-out ga-with ga-me?
It took everyone but Annabeth and Skylar a while to proscess what Nico had said. When we did, Nathan walked out saying it "wasn't cool in here anymore" and stormed off to play basketball. I guess he didn't like romance much, especially when it came to his best friend.
Piper sighed and smiled at Nico.
Hazel squealed and looked expectingly at Skylar.
Skylar looked at Nico and squealed "Yes!" To him before hugging him. Nico hugged her back but then looked at me from across the room.
"Ga-uh...ga-Percy? Ga-would ga-you ga-be ga-okay ga-if ga-I ga-dated--"
"Geez geez! Your giving me a headache!" I said laughing. "Stop talking now and I won't kill you." Nico shut up.
Everyone cheered but no one noticed a teary eyeyed Nathan standing at the door. Heartbroken.

Okay guys so that was a prequel to the book me and Nicoisawsome are writing just to pint that out. The next update will be a normal truth or dare story but mind checking the book out once I oublsih the first chapter? Thanks!
