“Sweetie, wake up…You’re gonna be late for school.”
I opened my eyes to see mom on my bed giving me a warm smile.
I wasn’t able to sleep that much last night. I hate the fact that I still kept thinking about him the whole night. It sucks!
“Mom, can I stay home today?” giving her my puppy dog eyes. “I’m kinda…you know, still not feeling well…”
“Do you want to go to the hospital?” I can hear her worried voice and it makes me feel guilty for lying.
I’m feeling a 100% okay, my body is perfectly fine but my mind isn’t. It’s in a mess right now and I just want some time to clear it from all the worries I’m feeling right now.
“No mom.” I sit down leaning my head on the headboard and looking at her worried face.
“If you don’t want to go to school right now, its fine but I want you to promise me that from now on you’ll have to take care of yourself. I don’t want to end up having a daughter on a wheel chair because of her carelessness.” She giggled.
I blushed.
I looked at her and then I hugged her. “I love you mom.”
“I love you too sweetie.”
As I looked at her, I thought of something. When I reach her age, will I be able to look just like her? She’s still young, beautiful and sexy.
She kept telling us that she never regretted the time when she and dad eloped. Grandma Liza doesn’t like dad that time. Telling mom to break up with dad because he is a bad ass, a good for nothing guy. She did what grandma told her even though she is deeply inlove with dad. She tried everything to erase that feeling. It is really hard for her to let go of dad. One night, she decided to meet dad to close everything between them PERMANENTLY. They agreed to have their own separate ways. Mom was about to leave when dad grab her hand and press his lips to hers for the last time. This is the AWKWARD moment when mom is sharing her story, telling that they went out of control of the situation which brought Megan to life. Grandma still doesn’t want her to marry dad. To make the story short, they eloped. What a very touching story isn’t it?
“Come on let’s have some breakfast and you could help me with something.” She stand up and tagging me along with her. I didn’t complain, I just smile at her.
‘I need to enjoy this moment. It’s been a long time since mom and I have done something together.’ I told myself.
“After this we will be going out.” As she passes me some bread and butter.
“Where are we going?” filling myself with some bacons. I wasn’t able to eat properly last night so I decided I have to eat twice as I can to fill my empty stomach.
“To Dianne’s house.” she took a seat beside me. “We will help them unpack their things.”
I felt my jaw hit the floor the moment I heard it. I was avoiding them as much as possible but fate always brings us together.
I can see her face full of excitedness. Mom and Dianne were bestfriends since they were kids. They were inseparable. But because of her husband’s work, she has to leave her dearest bestfriend behind.
She looked at me, confused with my reaction.
“That’ll be great!” I don’t want her to doubt that something happened between me and Dianne’s family. With Peter Gabriel Harris, to be exact!
We have to finish helping her fast so that the chance of seeing him is 0%.
I stand up, “Let’s get this over with.”
Mom was happy by my enthusiasm for work.
“That’s my girl.” Praising me as if I’m a Buddha. I look at her and then we started laughing of how silly we look.
“Hey, let’s go. Dianne is waiting for us” she snapped at me.
I was standing in front of the door. I’m so nervous I can’t move my feet.
I was about to give her an excuse when I felt her warm hand in my wrist dragging me down the stairs. “Hurry up!” she said impatiently.
She didn’t even bother knocking at the door. “Dianne, we’re here!”
“Hey!” she waved. “Oh, hi Anne! Don’t you have any class today?”
“I skipped class today. I wasn’t feeling that good this morning.” I explained. “I decided to help you out unpacking.” Giving her the warmest smile I could ever give.
“You are so sweet!” she hugged me. I felt happy that I could help.
I was looking around her house.
“Looking for Gab?” Dianne asked.
“No!” I defended. “I was just looking at your house.”
“Ouch!” I saw Pat putting his hand on his heart. “I thought you were looking for me.”
I chuckled. He really has a sense of humor. He was walking towards my direction. “Well, hello Ms. Beautiful!”
“Hahaha! Very funny!” he pinched my nose.
“Do you know how I missed you?” he whispered in my ear.
My face turns red.
“Are you blushing?” he was holding back his laughter.
I hit him as hard as I can.
That wasn't the best thing to do because I ended up hurting myself. Damn!
“You shouldn’t hit a stone cold hard body like this.” he winked.
I gave him a sarcastic look.
I turned around to tender my aching hand. I think I broke my fingers.
I decided to walk away from him and to go to the kitchen.
I was arranging the plates in the kitchen, when I felt something cold at my back.
“Shit!” I mumbled.
I saw him laughing. He put a piece of ice inside my shirt.
"What a childish thing to do." I glared at him. If glaring could send hundreds of daggers, I’ll be sending a lot.
“Really? Is that all? I’m not impressed.” I sneered. “Can you just get out of here? I’m kinda busy.” Pointing to the pile of plates.
He grinned, “That’s why I’m here. I’m helping you, beautiful.” Then gave me a wink.
I hate to admit it, but he really is something.
“I’m dead serious when I told you I missed you.” Putting the plates inside the cabinet.
I glared at him. “Whatever!”
“Hey there lovebirds, let’s go!” Dianne called.
I looked from my left to right, then pointing my finger to myself with a raised eyebrow.
“Yes, silly!” she teased. “You two look good together.”
He put his arms around my shoulder, “Let’s go beautiful!”
I pushed him away… “Dream on!” I smirked.
As we headed to the door, I saw mom and Dianne looking like they are talking about something. Or someone. Then looking towards us, and then laughing. From their faces, I already knew what they are thinking. Playing to be cupids. It seems like parents now a days are more pain in the ass than kids.
I sighed.
Pat opens the passenger seat for me, “Hop in!”
I looked at mom and Dianne talking to each other and not giving me a space to sit beside them. I have no choice I guess.
“Where are we going?” I broke their oh-so-happy conversation.
“To the mall dear.” Dianne answered. “I need to buy some curtains, towels, and change the beddings.”
"Okay." i replied looking back to the road again.
As we arrive at the mall, they walked pass through me still having their own little world together. They are acting like they were teenagers again. I laughed at that thought. Maybe Claire and I would be like that in the future. How I wish!
“Are you going to stay there forever or are you going inside?” I snapped at my daydreaming looking at him. He gave me a smile that makes my heart skipped a beat. I ignored it and walked inside the mall.
“Don’t you have any classes today?” I asked.
He put his arms around my waist, “I want to help my mom to fix the house. Dad is busy with his works and Gab, well, he is busy with ‘his studies.’”
I stiffened as I heard his name. I shrugged the thought of him. I face him giving my puppy dog face, “So you’re telling me you’re the good guy?” in a sarcastic tone.
He grinned. I can’t help but notice his face, his straight white teeth and his kissable lips. I was in a daze when he snapped, “If you want to kiss them, go on.”
I blushed and then pushed him away so that he won’t be able to see my face. “Asshole!”
He just smiled at me then walks towards where mom and Dianne are.
“What do you think Pat?” handing him the towels. “Blue or Violet?”
“Mom, whatever color you decide, it will be perfect for our new house.” Giving her a kiss on her forehead.
That’s really sweet of him, I thought.
We’re done buying all the stuff they needed. So we went home to have our lunch. They insisted that they we should eat together since we agreed on helping them. We were happily eating our lunch. Discussing the food that we will be preparing for our barbecue party this weekend.
“Surprise!” someone shouted. "Care if I join your conversation?"
I was shocked to see him. He should be in school. Why is he here? I felt my jaw hit the floor and was shut by Pat who is grinning towards me.
“A fly might come inside your mouth or…. are you really inviting them to come in?” he asked giving a slight smile.
I glared at him.
Cocking an eyebrow, “I was about to take a bite….”
He cut me, “with the soup?”
I blushed, again! How many times will I be blushing for this day? I put down my spoon and cleared my throat, “Yes! I’m biting the soup!”
He laughed very loud at my answer. “You are so funny!”
They looked at us, confused.
I just smiled and ignore him.
"Gab, sweetie, you’re back early.” His mom welcomed him. “Come, you must be hungry.”
I didn’t look at him. I don’t want to lose my appetite. I continued eating.
“What are you talking about so happily?” Gab taking a sit beside me giving me a big grin. "I'm kinda jealous you know." winking towards me.
