Winter came quickly, and snow was becoming a regular weather forecast. Before I knew it, Christmas was just around the corner. On my way to build a snowman in the snow, I saw Hagrid dragging a giant tree that (by the looks of it) he cut down himself. He looked like he could use some help, and I'm always available for help.

"Hagrid!" I called.

"What're you doing?" Hermione hissed. She was very eager to make a snowman with magic this year.

"Let's just levitate the tree inside. It'll help Hagrid." I reply with a reassuring tone.

"Emily!" She whined. But before I could reply, Hagrid noticed us.

"Blimey, Emily, Hermione, ye' mus' be freezing! Wha' brings you outside?" Hagrid asks as we walk towards him.

"We were going to build a snowman!" I say cheerfully as Hermione mutters to herself about how we 'were' and now we're sidetracked. I shoot a quick glare at Hermione before turning back to Hagrid.

"We wanted to know if you needed help with the Christmas tree. We can levitate it inside." I offer. Hagrid shook his huge head and snow fell off of his beard.

"Nah, tha's alrigh'. I do it every year, it's part o' me job." Hagrid said proudly.

"Are you sure? It's no trouble at all." I continue.

"I'm sure. Now, run along and build yer snowman." Hagrid said, grinning.

"Bye Hagrid!" I yelled as Hermione and I took off to find a good spot to begin. He waved a huge hand over his head, not looking back.

We decided that a level piece of land right next to Hagrid's hut would be a good place for our snowman, to keep Hagrid in the Christmas spirit. We began by Hermione waving her wand while I moved my hands in the shape I wanted, using nonverbal and wandless magic. We made perfectly shaped snowballs, levitating them in the air. The bigger one I made went on the bottom, the smaller one Hermione made went on next, and I created the smallest one for the head. I grinned at our snowman, then silently (and without a wand, that's how I always do magic now) accioed some various sized rocks into my hand. I let Hermione make them the size she thought was best for the eyes and mouth. She made 2 rocks large for the eyes and kept the 5 mouth rocks the size they were. I pulled a carrot out of my pocket that I took from the kitchens, and placed it in the center of it's face, point facing outward. Hermione levitated the eye rocks into place, and I levitated the mouth rocks by flicking my finger towards the pile then flicking my finger, rock following, towards the snowman's face. Hermione accioed 3 more rocks for buttons, and I reached into my other coat pocket where I had an old scarf and a miniature hat. I wrapped the old scarf around it's neck whilst Hermione enlarged the mini hat, placing it on top of the snowman's head. I grinned at our work of art and Hermione beamed. I added the final touch, twigs that looked like arms with 2 fingers each, and with a wave of my finger I enchanted it to wave whenever someone came by.

Hermione and I left our Snowman and walked back to the castle, chatting away happily.

"You have to write to me!" Hermione demanded.

"I will." I promised.

"And you have to keep trying to figure out who Nicholas Flamel is."

"I'll try."

"And you have to keep the boys in line."

"We both know that I am more than capable."

She kept rambling on and on, until finally we came back to the castle. It was already lunchtime, and we had left right after breakfast. We made our way to the Great Hall, getting stopped more than a few times for Christmas wishes, etc. etc.

"Happy Christmas, Emily!" A fifth year Ravenclaw exclaimed as I passed by him. How he knows me, I have no idea.

"Have a good vacation." A third year Hufflepuff tells me as I pass him, going in different directions. I smile back and wish him the same.

"Hope we'll keep in touch." Lee Jordan, A friend of Fred and George and also the Quidditch commentator, says, running to who knows where. Oh, wait. I know where.

'Potions, potions, potions, gotta get down to potions before Snape finds my pranking candies...' his thoughts trail off.

'Good luck with that, Lee.' I answer in his mind.

'I'll need it.' is all he says before disappearing down a corridor.

"Don't let the Nargles get you, Emily." This comment grabs my attention. A pretty witch with white-blonde hair and a dreamy expression stands in front of me. She is currently reading an issue of 'The Quibbler' upside-down. Before I can thank her and wish her the same, she saunters off into her own dreamy world.

I glance at Hermione, who has the same confused expression as I. I try my hardest not to let my hair turn purple and offend her, should she come back. We finally made it to the Great Hall, greeting Harry and Ron at our normal place in the Gryffindor table.

"Em, you are SO the most popular girl in school!" Hermione babbles, while eating some tetrazini.

"I am not!" I argue. Then Ron and Harry jump to Hermione's aid.

"You are." Harry said.

"Are not." I firmly stated.

"Emily, you're the most talented witch in our year, no offense Hermione, perhaps in second or third year too. You are kind and nice and everyone always wants to be around you. I call that popularity." Ron finished, stuffing his face with sausage.

That's a pretty good case, and I suppose it's true, though not the second or third year part. I shrug and they know they have won the argument. Ron continues eating his various foods, now having had enough of sausage, he moves on to rolls. Harry, Hermione and I pace ourselves, and when we are all stuffed (besides Ron, who is never full) Hermione ushered us to the library to continue searching for Nicholas Flamel.

Hours pass, and still no sign of Flamel. Hermione disappeared a while ago to pack, while Harry, Ron and I were forced to stay behind and continue our search. Ron's stomach growled, to no one's surprise, and he checked the library clock.

"It's nearly dinnertime! Let's go." He declared, stomping up and sprinting to the Great Hall again.

Harry and I shared glances and we shrugged, jogging off after him. We made it to the Great Hall once more, and Ron was stuffing his face with lasagna, while Hermione next to him quietly feasted on some veggies.

When we were finished, we scurried up to the common room, Hermione to finish packing, me to finish a book I borrowed from the library, Ron to eat some candy, and Harry to wrap his Christmas presents. I finished my book rather quickly, and I noticed that it was late. I bade goodnight to all of my friends through thoughts, then collapsed on my bed. I was out cold from exhaustion.
