Aria's POV
I have about an hour until I'm going to Ezra's and my family are making dinner, again. I'm going to have to make another excuse not to eat again as Ezra text me telling me not to. My mum and dad are totally oblivious to my acting strange but Mike's starting to catch on I think. I run downstairs to tell mum I'm having dinner at Spencer's and we're revising for the night. It seemed like the perfect plan.
"Oh, I need to speak to Mrs Hastings later, I'll pick you up?"
Oh. That would be fine if I was actuating going to be there. I can call Spencer but she's going to want some kind of explanation. I have to go to Ezra's tonight though, he seems really excited by it all. I run up to my room and call Spencer, I'll just have to see how it goes.
"Aria, hey."
"Spence, I need you to cover for me."
"What's going on?"
"So, I've told my parents I'm going to yours tonight to study and then my mum said something about needing to speak to yours and she'll pick me up and-"
"Okay Aria stop, where are you actually going?"
"Uh" I can't tell her, she won't understand yet, "a guys." At least I'm not lying.
"Okay, tell her you're staying at mine. Which you are, and come to mine at 10, I'm pretty sure the library's open till 10, so I'll go there and revise, and tell my mum I'm meeting you there. So when your mum comes and asks where you are my mum will say we're at the library, and you should be covered?"
"Spencer you're amazing, thank you so much, I owe you one okay?"
"Okay, see you later."
I'm so lucky to have Spencer, I never thought we'd pull this off. I go downstairs again, and tell my mum the plan, even Mike seems to believe it.
I knock on apartment 3B and Ezra opens the door. I walk in and see his apartment tidied and dimmed with candles around. The little table in front of his couch has a velvet red cloth, and it set with plates glasses and another candle. In front of the TV is a stack of DVD's and I can see Ezra's been cooking. This is amazing and nothing like I was expecting. I close the door behind me and hug Ezra, he leans back a little and kisses me.
"Hi." He whispered and I smiled. I can't think of words right now. Nobody's ever done anything like this for me before and I don't really know the right way to react to it.
"This is amazing Ezra."
"Pick a movie, we'll have dinner, then we can just cuddle, whatever you want." He smiles and I know this is going to be perfect. The only thing that's making it less perfect is the fact I'm going to have to leave, but I have a whole 5 hours until then anyway. I sit on the coach and look through the different DVD's he has.
Ezra's POV
Aria looks amazing tonight and so far everything's going perfectly. She's picked an old black and white movie, which really surprised me because I love them movies and so does she, and the dinner went down fine. Everything feels so natural, I didn't know what I expected, I didn't expect her to be totally immature but I didn't expect her to be so mature and right for me. Nothing has been awkward and it feels like we've been together for ages.
Aria looks up and kisses my cheek, so I move my head closer so she can kiss me properly. She hasn't stopped smiling since she got here and she has such a wonderful smile. I'll do whatever I can to make her happy if it means I get to see her smiling. We spend a little while more kissing and then she looks at her watch. It's half nine so she can stay for about 15 more minutes. I don't want her to go but I know it's too soon to ask her to stay, but I know it won't be long before she is.
Just before she's leaving I check the hallways and make sure no one will see her leaving. We kiss goodbye and I walk her to the door downstairs.
"Thank you for tonight, it was perfect." She says before turning and walking away.
I watch her leave and I can't help smiling to myself. I really think this could be something amazing. I know it will be hard and we'll have to keep it a secret for a long time, but who knows. A job might come up at another school and we could gradually start become more public. I take a moment to think about her parents and how going being their back isn't ideal, but I know for a fact finding out your daughter is seeing her English teacher isn't going to be the best news they'll hear anytime soon.
I go back upstairs to my apartment and clean up. As I lift the blanket off the couch I hear something thump on the floor, I look down and underneath the couch and see Aria's phone. I put it on the side in my kitchen after putting it on silent because I don't want it to disturb me. I'll just bring it in for English tomorrow and say she left it in class.
Aria's POV
I get to Spencer's and she's waiting for me in her garden, and we walk into her house together. Her mum asks us how studying was and we dismiss her as quickly as we can and go to Spencer's room. I sit on her bed and thank her again for everything she's doing for me, and remind her what an amazing friend she is but she just gives me a 'look'.
"Tell me everything." She says sitting next to me.
"There's nothing to tell." I say laughing, I look for my phone so I can be distracted but I can't find it. I start to panic a little bit and rummage through my bag, it's nowhere. I must have left it at Ezra's. "Crap, I've left my phone at his."
"Who's?!" Then she pauses for a minute. "Don't worry, I'll tomorrow when someone gives you your phone back."
She thinks that will work but obviously Ezra will give me my phone privately, there's no way he'd do it in front of Spencer. So I just smile at her.
"Tell me about him."
"I don't know how much I can say Spence, we want to- well we need to keep it private but I do really like him. I don't stop thinking about him." It's all true.
"Okay Aria, this is so exciting for you." She smiles and we end up talking about random stuff for the rest of the night, but he's always in the back of my mind.
