*1 Year Later*
"Lina! Come eat breakfast and stop moping around," Kian barges into my room as I was undressing.
I'm topless and only in my panties. I turn around covering my chest with my arms. Kian's eyes widen and he looks down at the ground with red cheeks. He scratches the back of his neck.
"Sorry, I didn't know you were changing," he apologizes.
"That's okay, it was funny to see the look on your face," I pull my bra and shirt on with my leggings.
"Thanks," he sarcastically remarks.
"What's for breakfast?" I walk past him through the door.
"Eggs and fresh fruit," he follows behind me as we head to the kitchen.
After living with Kian for 5 months straight, I've started to memorize where everything is. Sometimes Kian even asks where things are and I answer so effortlessly. It's creepy.
"Yay! Fruit!" I squeal and my plate.
"I've learned a lot more about you, but I still know you love your damn fruit," Kian chuckles, grabbing his plate full of food.
He makes his way to the living room and settles down on the couch, turning on the TV. Drake and Josh is playing on teennick. I run to the living room and plop myself next to him, I'm in love with this show.
"Are you working today?" He asks.
"Yea, I get off at 7:30 though," I look at the clock.
It's currently 7 am and I have to leave in an hour to my new job. I work part time as a dental hygienist for little kids. I work with my aunt so it's more fun than working alone on older people.
"Can I come in for a cleaning?" Kian smirks.
"Not unless you're ages 1-10," I giggle.
"I can pass as a ten year old, right?" He jokes.
"Sure," I roll my eyes.
"I was wondering, maybe after work we could go out and eat for dinner," he suggests.
"Yea, that'd be nice," I smile.
"It'll be our third date," he winks.
"Ooo, I hope it's as funny as the second," I laugh.
"Hey! Okay that noodle was very slippery!" He groans.
"Yea, so slippery that it went up your nostril," I tease.
"I was trying to do a trick," he pouts.
"It was disgusting, but quite funny when the waitress came by when the noodle was dangling down your nose," I snicker.
"She liked it," he chuckles.
"Not the way I saw her expression, she ran for her life."
"Don't you have to get ready?" He mumbles.
I laugh and finish my breakfast, "yes, I do. Thanks for reminding me, nostril noodle."
He grunts as I get up. I bend down to grab my plate from the coffee table and feel a whack on my ass. I turn around and raise my eyebrow at him. He winks and I roll my eyes as I make my way to the kitchen to put my plate in the sink.
Kian and I aren't exclusively boyfriend and girlfriend, but we've been taking things quite slow. I wasn't comfortable at first, but he managed to keep it more easy for me.
I walk into my room and grab my white dental coat. I lay it on my arm and grab my car keys before heading out the room.
"I'll see you after work. Text me where to meet you for dinner!" I holler to Kian as I step out of the apartment.
"Okay! Have a nice day!" He yells.
I lock the door and head to my car. I jump in and pull down the sun visor to keep the bright sun out of my eyes. But a long strip of paper falls onto my lap. I pick it up and turn it around to see the photo booth pictures Harry and I took at Disneyland. I totally forgot I kept these in here. I settle them in the passenger seat not giving them a second glance.
Harry and I ended our relationship a year ago and I'm glad to keep it that way. I've managed to get my life together and I'm actually happy, well sort of...I still get terrible headaches and I wake up in the middle of the night sobbing sometimes. I guess the pain will always be with me, but I can cope with it. Even if some days I want to cry to him and beg for him to come back or just call him to hear his voice. I can be strong, I haven't spoken to him since that day, but I do read some text messages he leaves me. They leave me heartbroken, but it reminds me that he's just liar.
After about 20 minutes of being stuck in traffic towards Beverly Glen, I make it to work on time. The office is in a beautiful, large building with other friendly business owners. I say hello to some of them as I walk towards my aunt's office on the fifth floor. I open the door and get welcomed by the receptionist.
"Good morning, Lina," Carly smiles at me.
"Good morning," I nod as I pass by.
I walk to my own work space, the last room to the right, next to all the other dentist rooms. This place is the most child friendly place I've seen. I love to watch the kids come in here and play with the toys as they wait to get there teeth cleaned and checked. A lot of them seem to love me and it brings me happiness.
"Lina, your first patient is here," Carly calls for me.
"Alright, thank you," I smile.
I walk out of the open room and go into the waiting room to pick out my first patient of the day. I see a little girl on her feet talking to her mom with a big smile. I knew this little girl, she's 6 years old, but has the smartest brain.
"Hi, Lux! Great to see you here," I grin as she runs up to me and gives me a big hug.
"Lina! Look at my new dolly mommy got for me!" She lets go of me to show off her new Barbie.
They moved here from England too, her mom is a makeup artist and works for celebrities. They're the kindest people I've met.
"It's beautiful, but not as beautiful as you," I ruffle her hair.
She giggles and takes my hand, ready to get her teeth cleaned. I take her to my station and sit her on the chair. I pull out my utensils and get them ready.
"So, what flavor would you like this time for your toothpaste?" I ask her.
"Bubblegum!" She squeals.
"Alright," I pick up the package of the paste.
I take my dentil brush out and press the button as I put it into the paste.
"Okay, now smile for me," I tell her.
She smiles big and I brush her tiny teeth. She's the easiest kid to handle, the other children scream and cry. It makes me glad that Lux is the one I can always look forward to not have a struggle with.
As I finish with fluoride, the same bubblegum flavor she loves, I hear my aunt come into the office.
"Good morning, Lina!" She smiles.
She's not much older than me, she's only 31, yet I still think she's 26. She married my uncle at age 26 and they've been living happily ever since. They are truly the cutest couple I've seen.
"Good morning, Lecia!" I wave at her as I take my gloves off.
"Alright Lux, you're all done for today! Thanks for being such a great sport as always," I fist bump her.
"Can't wait to see you next time!" She hugs me after getting off the chair.
"Me too, now let's go show your mom your shiny teeth," I grab her tiny hand.
Before I can walk out to the waiting room, Lecia stops me. She has a bright smile on her face.
"There's a really cute boy out there, I think he's your age. You should try talking to him," she winks.
"Lecia, I'm with Kian," I remind her.
"Whatever you say, I think this guy is really cute," she puts her hands up in defense.
I laugh and walk past her with Lux still holding my hand. I walk into the waiting room to see Lux's mom, Lou with a curly haired boy. They both look up as Lux squeals.
"Hey baby, let me see your shiny teeth," Lou grins.
Lux cheeses very widely, but I freeze as I see the curly boy look up at me. He stands up as he meets my gaze. He looks back at Lux and gives her that dimply smile. He walks up to me with Lux holding his large hand.
My heart hammers in my chest and I can't help feel my stomach turn. He looks amazing and more stylish. Not to mention older too. One year can change a lot in a person.
"Haven't seen you in awhile, Lina," Harry tries to give me a smile.
"You too, how's everything," I nod.
"Great, you know, I just finished the XFactor," he states.
"That's wonderful, did you win?" I ask.
I didn't really care, but I was just trying to be nice for the customers.
"No, we were second, but Simon gave us a deal," he answers.
"So how about you? I see you've got a job," he adds.
"Yea, after college I got a job as a hygienist with my aunt," I respond.
"How's Kian?" He raises his eyebrows.
I knew he just wanted to know if him and I were dating. Which technically we kind of are.
"He's great, I live with him now," I smirk.
He seems taken aback by that, "so you two are dating?"
"Yea," I nod.
"Great, I'm happy that your happy."
"I'd love to catch up more, but sadly I have another patient to attend to," I tell him.
"Right, yea. Well it was great seeing you. Hopefully I'll get to see you again," he nods.
"Bye, Lina! Thank you!" Lux lets go of Harry's hand to hug me.
"Your very welcome, Lux. Keep showing off that beautiful smile of yours for me," I ruffle her hair again.
"I will!" She giggles loudly.
She runs to her mom, Harry follows and as they leave, Harry turns around to wave goodbye. I wave back with a fake smile.
I'm glad that's over, and I hope I never see him again. Yet secretly I hope to bump into him to see those bright green eyes. His hair seems to have gotten a little longer since I've last seen him. It suits him and makes him look older....and even more attractive.
I ignore the thought and take my next patient.
