Chapter 9
Kiara and Kovu sat for a while, and wept tears of worry for Simba and fear of what Kopa May do, to win his way to King. Kiara struggled to cope with the changes in her brother. He used to be so innocent, he used to love her so. She had imagined him as a ghost throughout her childhood, always the same friendly playful protector that she remembered him to be. But he cared not for Kiara, and only for power. Kovu felt for his wife. She was so naive, her father had protected her from everything, thinking that it would be best for her. She wiped her eyes.
"Whatever happens, father won't let him exile us, not with a cub on the way!" Sniffed Kiara, and Kovu was unsure whether she was simply reassuring herself or him as well. He knew that if Kopa became king there is nothing Simba could do to stop him from exiling them, but as long as Kiara wasn't stressed, he wasn't about to point this out to her. It had only been a day since Simba left and Kovu couldn't wait for him to return. He wanted to see what Simba would make of his long lost son.
Chapter 10- the return of the king.
It was midday, three weeks after Kopa returned to the prideland, and Kiara was obviously pregnant; her stomach had swollen and both Sarabi and Sarafina couldn't wait to see their grandchild. Kopa had watched her belly grow from a distance, and grew jealous that he had been replaced by another boy In his sister's heart, never reminding himself of how he had been gone all these years , as a rouge lion, and little did he know how much his younger sister yearned for him to be as innocent as he used to be. But Kopa was careless, he would be king very soon, and he smiled wickedly as he spotted zazu swooping into the cave of pride rock, where the lions feasted on their afternoon meal.
"Your majesty" bowed zazu to Kovu, who smiled happily.
"The king is on his way, he should arrive in a matter of hours. We will need meat for the 700 strong army. Of course they are bringing some meat with them, plus many will hunt for themselves and their families.
"We'll do our best." Smiled Kiara.
"I don't recommend you do anything, you might explode." Said zazu, in a tone that didn't sound like by he was joking. Kovu chuckled.
"I agree with Zazu, I will send the hunting party after wildebeest." He smiled.
By the time Simba's red mane was visible over the grassland, hundreds of carcasses lay, and 10 exhausted lionesses, plus one heavily pregnant one, lounged about in the cave. Only an hour later, Simba slowly made his way up the path to pride rock, where his 11 lionesses, 2 elderly residents, a magnificent king, a wise old baboon and most surprising to him, his heavily pregnant daughter, awaited him. Both Simba and Nala ran over to Kiara and embraced as much as they could get their paws around, and then they congratulated Kiara and Kovu for being such successful leaders. Simba was just about to embrace his mother, when a deep voice was heard from behind him.
"Father?" It asked.
Simba turned, and frowned at him.
"Who are you?" Asked Simba
"It is me father. Kopa!" He replied
Simba snarled.
"My Kopa died! I saw his body! I buried him!" Yelled simba
"Pa it's m..." Kopa started
"GO AWAY!" Roared Simba. But he did not move. Simba began to weep.
"Can it be? My son? My son?" Cried Simba, pulling into a hug.
"My boy!" Wept Napa, joining them. They feasted after that, and talked for a long while. They then slept, preparing for war, that could spring out at them at any time.
