Amy's POV

Its Wednesday afternoon and I'm in my room with my main light off and my fairy lights on, listening to Daughtry no surprise.

For the last three days, I've been under a lot of pressure. After the whole picnic in the park, I was automatically working on the story for the chronicle and on top of that, I've been studying like crazy for two exams that I have to take this Friday of my least favorite subjects. Physics and algebra ugh. And since I started my journey to recovery, my temptation has skyrocketed. When I told my cousins about my horrible habit, they were very supportive and told me to always come to them when I have nightmares or when I'm tempted. I love them both so much, they mean a lot to me. My phone started ringing and I didn't even bother to look at the caller id.

"Hello?"

"Hey Amy its me."

Oh shit its freaking George

"Oh hey"

"How you been"

"Eh well let's just say I'm hanging in there." I said laughing softly

"Why what's wrong?"

"Nothing just its one of those weeks where I'm under a lot of pressure from school."

"I can relate to that not just from baseball but also from when I was in college to."

"Yeah."

"Anyway I was calling to let you know that I got an idea for Friday. I was thinking maybe you and I can eat at this spot I go to and then from there well... I'll show you from there but I promise you'll like it."

"Sure I get off at school by 12:30 instead of 2 so yeah we can do it then and what's the dress code?"

"Dress casual and comfortable and I'll pick you up from your apartment say around 1:30?"

"You know where I live?" I asked confused.

"Considering I walked you home remember?"

"Oh yeah right sorry my head is like a damn circus right now." I said as I rubbed my temples.

He laughed. "It's okay I understand listen I gotta go, I have batting practice but I'll see you Friday. Are you gonna watch the game tonight?"

"You know it good luck George."

"Thanks Amy, I'll see you Friday and when it comes to school I know it sucks but your a strong woman, you can do it."

"Thanks." I said with a smile on my face.

"Alright Amy I'll talk you later bye."

"Bye George." With that I hung up.

I eventually got off of my bed and went to my desk and started studying again.

George's POV

The team and I were currently behind the batting cage as we practiced our swing for our game tonight.

"So what are you doing Friday George?" Tuker asked me.

"I'm going out with a friend."

"Would that friend happen to be the same girl from picnic in the park? The one where you just couldn't take your eyes off hm?" He asked while smirking at me. I playfully pushed his shoulder.

"Yes and that girl has a name. Amy."

"So is it a date?" He asked

"It's not a date. I barely met her Tucker, come on and besides I don't think she's ready for that yet. We still want to get to know each other." I explained.

"Really? Because from what I've seen, you two really hit it off on the field."

"Look who's talking, you were hitting it off with her cousin."

He looked down and stayed silent and raised his hands in surrender. "Alright you got me there but I couldn't help it, she's..I don't she's something else man."

"I know what you mean, with Amy it's the same way. When I first saw her, my first thought of her was that she's.."

"Pretty?" Tucker said cutting me off.

"Beautiful. Not just her appearance but her personality. She seems more humble and care free."

"She's not like...you know?"

"Definitely not. She's more understanding and patient."

"That's good and looks your up next to bat."

I walked up to home plate and started practicing for the game.

~Two days later~

Amy's POV

I was walking home from the university after what seemed like forever, doing those test but hey it's like what my aunt told me before I moved to Houston. 'Gotta work hard to earn what you want' I miss her and my uncle to. Besides my cousins, they were there for me when I needed them. We haven't talked in awhile due to us having busy schedules but every once in a while they would call to check and when I get a chance, I do the same thing.

I finally got home and went straight to my room without saying hi to whoever was sitting in the living room. I went straight into my bedroom to my closet looking at the type of clothes for today. I winded up making a pile of clothes on my bed and let out a frustrated groan.

"Woah chick, it's like a damn tornado went through closet and it landed on your bed." Destiny said as she walked in my room.

"Destiny I don't know what to wear please help me." I pleaded.

"Of course, what's the dress code?"

"He said dress casual and comfortable."

"Well today is hot so no pants umm...here" she said as she gave me clothes from the pile.

She gave me a pair of nice blue jean shorts, an aqua green top, and a pair of silver sandals.

"Destiny this is perfect thank you." I said as I hugged her.

"Your welcome now hurry up you have like 25 minutes till he gets here.

"Shit!" I ran straight to the bathroom as Destiny laughed at my sudden outburst of profanity.

I got dressed and started straightening my hair. As I was doing that, I was really thinking about how today will go. I really hope today goes well because I've been under so much stress from school and life in general. My dad has also been on my mind to. My dad and I were super close, we were like best friends but that all changed when he and my mother divorced. He basically treated that I didn't exist and I had to fend for myself.

By the time I was done I was sitting in the living room waiting for George to call saying that he was here. I was starting to get nervous that I started bouncing my leg up and down and playing with my fingers.

"Woah chill out before you cause an earthquake in our living room. Relax Amy." Destiny said.

"I don't know why I'm so nervous."

"Well you like him right?" She asked

"....yeah I do." I replied

"Well it's normal to feel nervous especially if your going on a date with your crush."

"It's not a date."

"You say that now." She says winking at me.

My phone vibrated and it was from George.

~hey I'm outside your apartment building.~

~okay I'm coming.~

I stood up and checked myself in the mirror and put lotion on my arms and legs. I grabbed my phone and wallet and gave Destiny a hug.

"Don't worry about anything just enjoy yourself and have a good time."

"Thanks I love you I'll see you later prima"

Oh yeah did I mention I'm half hispanic.

"Love you to now go." She said pushing me out the door.

I was walking down the hall and when I turned to the corner to walk down the stairs I took a deep breath and told myself that everything was gonna be okay.

When I got to the bottom of the stairs I look up and see George leaning against his truck dressed in a nice pair of jeans and a short sleeve plaid. When he looked at me, he flashed me his beautiful smile and I couldn't but smile back.

"Hey." He said giving me a hug.

"Hey" I said hugging back and taking in his embrace. My heart was pumping really fast and it felt like it was gonna explode.

"You ready?"

"Yeah let's go." He opens the passenger door for me like the gentleman he is and we drove off.

~skipping car ride~

He pulls up to this local lunch spot called District 7 lodge. The place looked pretty decent and calm.

"I go here before I go to baseball practice and I can guarantee you that you'll like their food.

"I trust you." I said.

We eventually said down out side in a nice shaded area and we got our drinks and started looking at our menus. Once we decided what we wanted to eat, our waiter got our menus and we started making a conversation.

"How were your test." He asked

"Long and boring. But other than that it went better than I expected." I said

"Good since I've meet you, I know your probably one of the smartest people I know so far. Actually I already know things about you."

"Oh even though the times we saw each other were nothing more than small talk. What could you possibly know about me." I said with determination.

"I know what your favorite color is."

"Okay shoot. What's my favorite color." I know he's not gonna get it right, my color is not common.

He smirked and said. "Aqua Green."

I was in shock. No one would ever think about that color. And to top it off, he got it right on the first guess.

"Tha..That's right. How did you know, I don't think I ever told you."

"You didn't tell me but I can read people real easily. I also see your graduation ring stone is that color and with you wearing that shirt, the color suits you." He said with a proud smile.

I felt my cheeks getting warm again. Dammit Amy quit blushing.

"Impressive Springer. Very Impressive and thank you. What else do you think you know about me?"

"Well I can also tell that your those types of people that don't take crap from nobody and you seem to keep yourself on high alert when you meet new people. You were like that when we first met."

"Is that a good thing or bad thing?" I asked

"Good thing. I can understand how it's hard to trust people. They can pretend to be who they say they are but let's be honest, actions speak louder than words."

"You know...you saying all those things about me are the same thoughts I have on you. Your also like me in the sense of you don't take crap from no one, only difference is that you can welcome people in a snap. As for me, it takes time."

"Like I said its not a bad thing. People are different and I accept your opinions and perspective on things. It makes you who you are."

"Same." I said smiling.

By then our food finally arrived and let me tell you I was starving. I skipped breakfast this morning and I know it was a bad idea. I got cold cut club sandwich and George got grilled pork tenderloin. I took a bite out of my sandwich and oh my goodness it was like heaven in my mouth.

"This is really good."

He laughed and said " I'm glad you like it. How come you never been here?"

I shrugged and said "I guess me not having time and mainly focusing on going to school or my job and I eat at places that are near me."

We continued to eat and have conversations with each other. He talked about his family and I found out that he has two younger sisters named Lena and Nichole. Lena is a sophomore and a softball player at Oklahoma university. He also showed me a picture of Nicole's baby boy and he is so adorable. His name is Bryce and I can tell he adores him a lot the way he talks about him. He tells me that his mom used to be a gymnast and his dad played in the little league World Series. I can see where he gets his love for baseball from.

"What about your family?" He asked.

"Well you know my two cousins Victoria and Destiny. Victoria is starting school soon and Destiny like me, wants to be an educator."

"What are your parents like?"

My smile dropped when he mentioned my parents. How do I explain it without getting upset.

"I'm sorry I shouldn't have asked I can tell your not comfortable."

I shook my head. "No it's okay, you just wanted to know. Um my parents got divorced when I was 14 and let's just say we're not in contact. I lived with my aunt and uncle for the rest of my high school year until I got accepted to the university and got an apartment which I share with my cousins. But like I said I really don't have contact with my parents." I said as calm as I could. All I was thinking about was how my dad basically talks to me when he has news and my...I really don't know where she is.

He then moved his chair next to me and he took both of my hands into his.

"Another thing I know about you is that I can feel that part of your life wasn't the best and I'm sorry that things are the way they are but know I'm here for you and I mean that."

His words are sincere. He's sincere. Before I knew it, one tear slipped out my eye and I was gonna wipe it away but George let go of one of my hands and wiped my tear away. He kept his hand on my cheek and rubbed his thumb back and forth. I smiled at him.

"Thanks for listening."

"Always. Shall we continue?" He asked.

"Yeah"

We then went back eating and enjoying each other's company.

~ 2 hours later ~

"So where is that we're going that you couldn't tell me on the phone."

He shook his head laughing. "It wouldn't be that much of a surprise if told you now would it?"

"I mean I guess." I said shrugging my shoulders.

We were once again sitting in silence when my phone went off and saw it was from Destiny.

D~ how is your date going?

A~ for the last time, ITS NOT A DATE!!!

D~ keep telling yourself that

A~ did you need something?

D~ nah not really. Just seeing how things were going.

A~ bye destiny

I put my phone away and sensed that we stopped. When I looked up I couldn't help but laugh. We were at a carnival.

"What?" He asked laughing as well.

"Nothing it just I have a feeling that you had a good childhood I mean let's be honest, you act like a child sometimes bu-"

"Hey" he said pretending to be offended.

"But it just shows me that your also very outgoing." I said smiling at him.

"Thanks you ready. Because let's be honest, I am gonna beat you at the games." He said smirking

"In your dreams Springer." I said getting out of truck.

We then walked in and let our fun and challenging day begin.

~later that evening~

I was having so much fun. I swear George is so childish but at the same time, I like his sense of humor. The rides were so amazing, hair blowing, yelling joy makes me happy. I like feeling this way.

We just got done with the rides and now we are going to see who is the best player. The first one is throwing a dart to the target. Let's see how this goes.

"Alright Amy, let's see how a common college girl goes against a pro baseball player." He said as he and I get our three darts.

"Alright and for the record, I'm a university girl😉" I said getting ready.

The first throw, it hit the board not the target, second one it was getting close, and the third time was a charm I hit it in the middle.

"I look over at George's and his darts were no where near the target. I winded up winning a hello kitty stuffed animal wearing a shirt saying "Flawless" for Victoria.

"What happened George?" I asked tauntingly.

"Well my arms are tired from all the games this week."

"Yeah right." I said laughing.

We then started walking around and continued to do small talk here and there and we stopped at this tent and George told me to wait outside. I didn't know what was inside because I had my back against the entrance. Then hands covered my eyes.

"When I uncover your eyes, you keep them closed okay and don't worry I'll guide you." George said

"Okay if I wind up in any prank I'll punch you."

He laughed. "Yes ma'am" he then grabbed my hand and started guiding me. I was walking for almost five minutes until he stopped.

"We're almost there but this part your gonna have to climb on my back."

"Umm okay?" He squat then lifted me up and started walking going up.

As he was walking up. The way his hands were on my thighs gave me an uneasy feeling that I tried to make go away but it wouldn't go away. I still managed to keep it under control.

He finally stopped walking and put me down.

"Can I open my eyes now?"

"Yes you can."

I opened my eyes and I gasped out of amazement. We were on top of one the buildings of the fair and the view was just amazing. All the fair lights and Texas being Texas, had the stars shining bright tonight.

"This..this is amazing. How did you-?" I said leaning on the edge

"I know people. Nice huh?" He said

"Yeah....thank you."

"Your welcome." He said.

George then walked by my side and bent down next to me and came back up with white roses.

"White roses for a beautiful lady." He said handing them to me.

I smiled and he smiled back. We stared at each other for god knows how long and then suddenly walked closer to me and move a strand of hair out of my face and his roamed my cheek and his thumb eventually rubbed my lips. His eyes eventually traveled down to my lips and he was leaning in. I just kept still and my heart was racing, do I lean in to or stop him? Then I felt his hot breath on my lips and next thing I knew, he pressed his lips to mine. I didn't kiss back at first but I then winded up pressing my lips against his.

It was nice and passionate kiss I loved it.

~you have soft beautiful lips and skin precious.~

I pulled away after hearing that voice in my head. Oh god not him, I can't think about him. No no no oh god I  can't let this happen again.

"Amy are you okay? I'm sorry for kissing you its just......I really like you and I couldn't help it."

"Yeah....look I'm sorry George but I don't have the same feelings for you." I said lying. I do have feelings for him but I can't have him in my life, and ic don't want him to have a broken girl like me either.

"your lying." He said.

"No I'm not."

"Okay then look into my eyes right now and say you don't have feelings for me."

It was hard for me to look into his gorgeous eyes but I took a deep breath and said.

"I don't."

He looked hurt and I was this close to tears.

"Alright then. Let me take you home." He said walking away.

I looked up at the sky one more time before I left leaving the white roses behind.

We got into his truck and you could feel the tension between us but we rode in silent. When we drove up to my apartment. I opened the door but I stopped and said

"I'm sorry."

"Yeah I am to.....Look things between us are not okay right now so I think it's best we give each other space."

I didn't know what to say. I simply said okay and walked up to my apartment. I walked in shutting the door behind me.

"Hey how did your da..you okay what happened?" Destiny said as she and Victoria walked towards me with concern.

I shook my head. "nothings wrong. I got you a prize tori." I said as my voice cracked. Victoria looked at the bear and set it down on the kitchen counter and her and Destiny pulled me into a group hug as I let tears fall.

"You guys..I had to push him away I don't want him with me. Especially in this state.

"Shhh come on let's get you to your room so you can calm down." Victoria said as they guided me to my room.

I can't be with anyone. Because I know I'll probably be in the same position I was in at 15.

And im not going back there.
