Third Person POV
Nash stares at Jack incredulously, he can't believe that the boy he's considered his best friend is actually sitting on the lap of the boy that's bullied him, the boy that influenced Cameron to ignore him for months. Jack knows all of that and he always seemed so sympathetic to Nash's complaints and yet there he is. Nash knows Jack hid this from him and that just means Jack knows how messed up it is to date someone who made your supposed best friends life worse.
He stands quietly as Cameron greets his friends, his eyes are locked on Jack's and only when he hears his name does he tear his gaze away from him.
"This is Nash, he's my boyfriend." Cameron introduces Nash, he's not ashamed of Nash at all. He realizes that Gilinsky was completely wrong about the sweet boy who has captured his heart. Nash doesn't deserve to be treated the way Gilinsky treats him, he's so kind hearted and tender. Cameron feels like such an asshole whenever he thinks about how he treated Nash. He knew that Nash had a crush on him, it was obvious by how Nash nervously greeted him every day. There's so many things he wishes he had done differently just to avoid hurting Nash but he can't so he plans to make up for it as much as possible.
Gilinsky scoffs and Cameron raises an eyebrow at him, he's prepared to let his friendship with Gilinsky go if the other boy doesn't change his attitude. The rest of his friends smile and wave at Nash making Gilinsky look like the asshole he's being.
Jack slides off of Gilinsky's lap and stands up. "Can we talk?" He asks Nash quietly.
Nash contemplates ignoring Jack for lying to him by omission but he decides he's not that kind of person so he nods at him and then follows him until they're a few feet away from the booth.
"I'm sorry, I know how fucked up it seems. I was just scared to tell you because of how... Gilinsky treats you." Jack starts off, he's struggling with what to say to Nash because he knows there's really no excuse. He should have been honest from the start.
"You mean because of how he bullies me," Nash corrects Jack, Jack is a little taken aback, he's not used to Nash being so direct.
There's an awkward silence between the two friends and Nash looks at him with a frown on his face.
"I can't control who you date obviously, you like who you like but I wish you had been honest with me. That's what makes me upset the most." Nash says after a few more moments of silence, Jack nods because he knows Nash is completely right.
"I know... I'm sorry. Forgive me, please?" Jack pleads because he truly does consider Nash to be his best friend, he doesn't want to lose him. He's ashamed to think about how he assumed Cameron wouldn't bring Nash to anywhere public on their date, he had pitied Nash when Nash had excitedly told him that he and Cameron were going on their first date.
Nash nods because he and Jack have been friends for years, he won't let one incident derail their entire friendship. The two friends hug and then walk back to the booth, Cameron gives Nash a smile and wraps his arm around his waist. He doesn't sit down because he doesn't plan to stay with his friends long, he wants to continue his date with Nash. His parents are on a getaway for the weekend so it's just him and his sister at the house, he plans on asking Nash if he wants to spend the rest of their night at Cameron's house. He thinks Nash will say yes but he's still nervous about asking.
They don't stay much longer with Cameron's friends, Cameron says goodbye and they change out of their ice skates and head out to Cameron's car. Nash assumes Cameron will drop him off at his house.
Cameron turns his body towards Nash and strokes his cheek tenderly with his thumb. "Do you want to hang out at my house until your curfew? My parents are gone for the weekend."
Nash feels excited as he nods happily and soon enough they're cuddling on Cameron's bed. Nash rests his head on Cameron's chest as Cameron runs his fingers through Nash's soft hair repeatedly.
"Thank you for such an amazing night," Nash whispers and he traces random patterns on Cameron's chest. He's never been so content in his life, everything has changed just because of Cameron.
Cameron gathers up his courage, he's never nervous like this but Nash makes him feel like that.
He tilts Nash's head upwards and their lips meet in a gentle kiss that makes Nash want to swoon.
Cameron licks his lips when he pulls away from Nash. "Will you go to prom with me?"
Nash's eyes widen dramatically, he had never thought that he would go to prom or the senior trip. Deep inside he wished he could but he knew no one would ever ask him but Cameron's soft question makes me so happy. He bites his lip shyly, a motion that makes Cameron want him so much more, and nods happily.
Cameron leans in and connects their lips again, they move slowly over one another's and Nash moans softly when Cameron slips his tongue into Nash's mouth. Nash can feel his cheeks heat up from the sexy kiss, it's almost surreal, he can't believe he's in Cameron's room, making out with him and that they're going to prom together. Cameron trails his fingers down Nash's side, loving the trembling that his touch causes, and then slides his hand underneath Nash's shirt. Nash wraps his arms around Cameron's neck and plays with his soft hair as their heads move with the rhythm of their kiss. Cameron ends the kiss slowly with soft kisses lightly pressed against Nash's lips. He pulls away and looks into Nash's blue eyes that are shining happily and is proud that he put that look there. He grabs Nash's hands and laces their fingers together, Cameron wants more but he knows Nash is inexperienced and he doesn't want to move too fast.
He lies back on his bed and pulls Nash on top of him, Nash rests his head on Cameron's chest and takes in a deep breath to calm his nerves.
They begin to talk softly, they get to know each other better and Nash feels compelled to tell Cameron his secrets. There are some things that not even Jack knows and when Nash opens up to him, Cameron does the same in turn. They move towards sillier topics and laugh softly, they both feel so relaxed and comfortable in each other's presence.
It gets close to Nash's curfew so after a few more kisses they get up from Cameron's bed and Cameron drives him home. He walks Nash up to his door and they share one last kiss before Nash enters his house. He leans against the closed door and closes his eyes with a dreamy smile in his face. His first date was amazing, Cameron treated him perfectly, he didn't move too fast and Nash couldn't be happier.
His mother stands from the living room, she's been waiting for him to arrive and smiles when she sees the happy look on Nash's face.
"I assume it went well?" She says and hugs her middle son, she knows she neglected him a bit and regrets it but she's trying to make up for that.
"He asked me to prom, mom!" Nash tells her excitedly and Elizabeth feels so happy for him. Nash has always been shy and he only has had one friend for years. She's happy that he will get to experience prom and dating someone in high school.
"I'm so happy for you," she tells him and they hug tightly. Nash yawns and they head upstairs to bed. When he lies down in bed, snuggled under his covers, he checks his phone and grins when he sees messages from Cameron.
From 💞Cammy💞
Miss you already, can't wait to see you again.❤️
From 💞Cammy💞
I can't wait for prom, it's going to be amazing.
He quickly replies to Cameron.
To 💞Cammy💞
Miss you too! Thank you for the amazing night, it seriously was perfect. I can't wait for prom either, I know it's going to be just as amazing,
Cameron lies in his bed and when his phone buzzes he picks it up immediately, he's never been so attached to anyone he's dated before. Nash makes him feel so differently than the others before him. He smiles at Nash's reply and rapidly types out a text to him.
To 💕My Baby💕
I'm one lucky asshole. You're so beautiful, baby but you're beautiful inside too. I've honestly never met anyone as kind and amazing as you are.
He can imagine the blush that's most likely spreading on Nash's cheeks, he loves how bashful he is. His innocence is refreshing and his genuine emotions are so welcomed.
From 💕My Baby💕
I can't believe this is real, you know? I've literally had a crush on you for so long and I dreamed that I would some day be able to call you my boyfriend. I honestly can't believe that day actually came.
Nash's confession makes Cameron's heart pang, he's still upset at himself at all of the lost time just because he listened to Gilinsky. Cameron knows that social status is not important at all, he considers himself lucky that Nash gave him another chance. He knows people will connect the dots and realize that the person he was talking about at the last assembly was Nash but he doesn't care. He doesn't care what people think or who knows about his feelings for Nash.
To 💕My Baby💕
God, if I hadn't been so stupid we could have been together months ago. I regret it so much... 😔
From 💕My Baby💕
It's in the past, Cam. We're together now and I couldn't be happier.
They continue texting late into the night until they can no longer keep their eyes open. The next morning Cameron sleeps in late and is awoken by banging on his room door. He stands and stumbles out of bed, he opens the door to reveal his best friend who has a sheepish look on his face.
He turns and heads back to bed, he covers his entire body with blankets and can hear Gilinsky sigh softly after he closes the door.
"Cam, I'm sorry." He says and he goes up to the bed, he sits down next to Cameron and tries to tug the blanket down.
"I'm trying to sleep," Cameron replies petulantly and Gilinsky knows Cameron is still upset with him.
"Dude, I'm sorry, for real. It was stupid of me to say the things I said about Nash. I was so wrong, I realize that now." Gilinsky insists and Cameron uncovers his head.
"Only because you're dating his best friend," Cameron points out, he doesn't know how genuine is Gilinky's apology and he wonders if it's just because he's dating Jack and wants them all to get along.
"Jack did talk to me but I honestly see how wrong I was, it's not just because I'm dating Jack and you're dating Nash. Maybe we can go on a double date?" Gilinsky asks, he's trying to think of ways to bury the hatchet. He knows they'll probably be hanging out together and doesn't want things to be awkward.
"I'll ask Nash," Cameron replies, he's not committing to anything unless Nash is comfortable hanging around Gilinsky.
"Fair enough," Gilinsky replies and he flops back on the bed as he turns on the television. Cameron is used to Gilinsky making himself at home and he just covers himself up again.
The next day Cameron picks Nash up for school, when Nash gets into his car he leans over and kisses him tenderly.
"Hi, baby." Cameron greets him and the simple words make Nash's cheek turn pink.
"Hi, Cammy." Nash replies with a shy smile, Cameron decides he likes the new nickname but only from Nash.
They had texted for the majority of Sunday and Cameron offered to pick Nash up in the morning. When they arrive at school people look at them curiously. Cameron accompanies Nash to his locker and waits while Nash puts his stuff away and then they go to his locker.
They quickly develop a new routine and Nash finds himself completely lost in Cameron. He doesn't even think about Jack because his attention is completely on Cameron, it's not until lunch time that Nash realizes he hasn't talked to Jack at all. He actually attends lunch for the second time in the entire school year, he and Cameron stand in line together. Even though he's taller than Cameron, Cameron holds him close and occasionally presses soft kisses on Nash's lips.
The students that notice them are shocked and whisper quietly to themselves. They gossip about Nash being the person Cameron had talked about during the assembly. Cameron can hear their names in near by conversation but he doesn't care what they're saying. They carry their trays to the lunch table that Cameron usually sits at, his friends are there and Jack sits next to Gilinsky.
Jack searches out Nash's gaze, Nash has ignored him all day and he's worried that Nash is still upset at him. The blank look in Nash's eyes makes him realize that Nash didn't even think about him and that kind of hurts Jack. Jack is used to having the balance of power tipped towards himself, he knows that being Nash's only friend, Nash wants to keep him happy. Nash usually acquiesced to him because of that but that's no longer the case. Nash's attention is solely on Cameron and he giggles at Cameron's antics. Cameron loves to put a smile on Nash's face.
After lunch Jack pulls Nash aside and Nash waits patiently for Jack to start talking.
"Are you still mad at me?" Jack asks softly and Nash raises an eyebrow at him.
"No I'm not mad," Nash replies and he's being truthful.
"Then why have you been ignoring me all day?" Jack asks, he kind of wants to hear it from Nash's mouth but he hopes that his assumption is not right.
"To be honest with you Jack, I've been completely concentrated on Cameron so if it seems like I've been ignoring you, I really haven't." Nash replies and Cameron waits off to the side for his boyfriend, they have the next class together. Jack can see Nash's eyes drift off of him and when he turns he sees Cameron waiting for Nash. He fights the urge to roll his eyes.
"I know Cameron is your first relationship but you shouldn't ignore your friends just because you have someone," Jack points out, the hurt is apparent in his voice.
"And you shouldn't keep an entire relationship from your friends," Nash shoots back because he feels like Jack is being unfair. Jack opens his mouth and then closes it because he doesn't really have a comeback for that.
"Sorry," he mutters and looks down.
"It's cool," Nash replies and he pauses before he hugs Jack to show him he's not upset.
"I'll see you later in class," Nash says as he pulls away, Jack nods at him and then Nash walks past him to go up to his waiting boyfriend.
Jack realizes that it will take him some time to get used to not being the center of Nash's attention.
Nash and Cameron hold hands as they walk to class together. Nash feels happy, he feels content with his life and a lot better than he was feeling before. He's excited for the future, he's excited to experience new things with Cameron.
But most of all he's excited to see where his relationship with Cameron leads him.
A/n- 🙃 the end. 🙃
