First let me say I'm sorry for the delay... I thought pt 37 posted already I didn't realize it never posted.... It's like 3 in the morning so if there are any mistakes please point them out because it's a long one...

Prom had arrived and Caroline and Rebekah had sent everyone but the prom committee out while the had the house decorated to perfection. The black curtains and red carpets contrasted beautifully, the chandeliers sparkled and crystals lined the walls giving off a shimmering effect; the slideshow Bonnie and April had done was to be projected on the walls. "Paper Ballots!!! Who the hell is gonna count paper ballots?" Rebekah snapped at Hayley and Elena when they showed up to the house shouting for Caroline. "It's the easiest way" Hayley shot back rolling her eyes. "It's the laziest way! How are you gonna keep track of who has voted versus who hasn't? Who's gonna take the time to tally them without missing prom? This is awful you two had one job" Caroline sighed loudly pinching the bridge of her nose. "Care you smell kinda wolfy"
"Mind it Hayley!" she yelled trying to calm herself down. "How about electronic voting? We can set up a way for everyone to text their vote"
"April that is brilliant!" Caroline smiled hugging her "it'll also tally for us" Rebekah added. "There is still no way for us to know if people are voting twice or rigging it by have people who aren't even here to vote" Bonnie added leaving them all silent until Kol strolled into the kitchen to let the girls know that he'd brought women to do their hair, makeup and nails. "Use their ID numbers" he suggested. Kol's idea was to use a laptop and make it so that the student had to log in with their school ID number before voting so no number could be used twice. "I'm impressed that surprisingly isn't stupid" Rebekah smirked at the idea and they were all thankful when he said he'd do it for them. After checking the last minute details Caroline and Rebekah joined Kat and Nadia who'd already begun their facials. Caroline wore a baby blue mermaid gown decorated in jewels with silver stilettos and a diamond Cartier earring and necklace set she borrowed from Rebekah, her hair was pulled up into a huge bun and makeup flawless; Klaus stepped from the bathroom in his tux wearing a black mask. "You look absolutely ravishing love" he breathed before kissing her hand. "Too much or no?"
"perfect" he laughed handing her a silver and blue accented mask as they went to join the others at the top of the stairs where they would make their grand entrance. Bonnie wore a fitting green dress that was beautifully decorated with silver flowers, her hair was spiraled and pinned over to one side and her mask black and silver. Rebekah's dress was pink and almost completely covered in purple beads, she wore purple heels and her hair was pulled off of her face and flowing down her back; her mask was pink and shaped like a tiara. Kat wore a red short sleeved gown, the entire top portion was lace and see thru with a daring split up the side. Kat's hair was pulled into a mohawk and loose curls littered her neck and shoulders perfectly with a cat themed red and black mask. Nadia wore a black form fitting turtleneck dress which was also lace and see thru with black stilettos, her hair was pulled into a high ponytail elongating her neck with a lace mask that covered her eyes like a veil. "OH MY GOD you guys look amazing... I'm so jealous" April gushed while she waited to be announced with the prom committee; Hayley looked disgusted.

"Nice dress mini me, love the color" Kat smirked seeing Elena also wore red and she silently nodded. "You all look amazing... Happy" she said lowly with a pained look; she missed them. The music was cut and the prom committee was introduced creating a mass applause and they were all complimented on how beautiful everything was and Caroline and Rebekah were both thoroughly impressed with Kol's voting system. As head of the prom committee Caroline said a few brief words and requested that the move to the ballroom where they would do the traditional waltz. "How are you Stefan?" Elena asked softly when she was spun into his arms when it came time to temporarily switch partners. "I've missed you... really" she added when he said nothing. "Stefan please"
"Elena you made your choice"
"What if I think I chose wrong?"
"Well I didn't; Rebekah is my mate, so if you did choose wrong then yours is still out there" he said before going back to Rebekah. The song ended and the music resumed but unable to let Stefan's words go Elena sought out Bonnie who she found with Caroline and Kol checking on the voting. Not wanting to make a scene Bonnie and Elena went out back. "I tried talking to Stefan, I told him that I don't feel like I made the right choice, I do things I normally wouldn't, agree to things that when I think about them later makes me sick; something's wrong with me. He said Rebekah was his mate... What does that mean?"
"Stefan is happy, really happy how dare you!"
"Bonnie please help me... please, I don't feel like myself"
Sighing loudly Bonnie explained mates to Elena who shook her in disbelief "that doesn't sound like this Bon" she said nearly in tears and offered to show her. Inside they found Damon drinking in the corner talking to Alaric. "Why so upset Elena? Have a drink"
"I don't wanna drink Damon Bonnie and I need to talk to you"
"It's a party Elena, have a drink and we'll talk later" Bonnie watched in awe when Elena grabbed the flask and drank. "I'm sorry about this Bon but Damon's right it's a party, we can talk later" Elena called back as Damon drug her onto the dance floor. Bonnie promised to explain later and went on with her night but the interaction did stay on her mind throughout the night. She was thankful when it was time for April to announce Prom King and Queen.

There was earth shattering applause when Matt and Caroline who were crowned and shared a dance as king and queen before everything resumed. Caroline and Rebekah were more than proud of the job they did as they were hugged and thanked as the guest left. Changing out of their gear they retired to the theater since all of the other gathering spots had been cleaned out for the party. They all agreed that after the decor and decorations were picked up to hire a cleaning service instead of doing it themselves and it was while they were sharing a few drinks that Bonnie told everyone about her interaction with Elena and Damon. "She was adamant about getting answers but Damon to her to have a drink and not to worry about and she did just that. Her whole attitude changed like nothing had happened"
"That is odd, I've never hear of such a thing" Rebekah commented turning up her cup. "It isn't a spell because the moment she switched up on me I checked for that" Bonnie answered Kat's question. Klaus threw his head laughing loudly getting everyone's attention, they waited patiently until he stopped to be filled in on his thoughts. "Out with it Klaus, you know what's wrong with her don't you?" Caroline smirked as he sat calmly sipping his drink. "Do tell me love why are we helping the doppleganger?"
"No one should have their choices taken away... especially by Damon" she rolled her eyes taking his cup. "Though it is rare amongst vampires what Elena is experiencing are the effects of what's called a sire bond"
