Where could he be?

I decided to lay in the grass and wait. I stared up at the azure sky, the breeze rustling the nearby trees in my range of sight. The clouds, so white, made pictures in the sky. One looked like an elephant, while another looked like a space ship, with a streak behind it, showing where it traveled.

I sighed, wondering what really happened to Zeke. If he were in trouble, what would I do? How do I find him. I'm not good at tracking. Maybe if I turned into a hound, I could sniff him out. But what if he's far away? I couldn't possibly go a long distance by myself. I don't know where I am, and if someone saw me as a dog, they might try to take me home, or call animal control.

It's extremely dangerous for Morphaíma to come into contact with a human while shifted. They need to make sure no one knows their ability. Zeke and I had to be extremely careful not to let anyone see us. But now that Zeke is gone, what was I supposed to do?

I continued to stare at the sky, as it got brighter. The sun slowly rising higher in the sky. If in fact he were in trouble, I couldn't wait too long to make a move. I needed to find out if his scent alone was led towards the Z4, and that no one else could possibly have taken it.

Searching the parking spot, I didn't sense anything out of the ordinary. It just seemed like he left rather calmly. I could picture it in my mind. Zeke was leaving, climbing out of his nook on the tree he slept in. He quickly transformed, put his clothes on sloppily, and walked out from under the canopy. He made sure to keep as quiet as possible, which wasn't difficult for him to do, being a master of stealth, and all.  He climbed in the driver's side of the Z4 and left.

It was hard to watch. The idea of him leaving wasn't the problem, but we were doing this assignment together. I've spent most of my life committed to serving and obeying the Draven family. In morphaíma history, the Draven family is basically royalty, but they don't expect special treatment. They don't want to be unapproachable towards the region they assigned themselves to. Unlike Zeke himself, the decisions of his ancestors were rather modest. They didn't want to be made images and then have their power of helping our kind taken away.

I ran. Taking in the rubbery scent of screeching tires, I made my way away from the abandoned shopping mall. I'm not out of shape; When I transform, I run all of the time, but my human form isn't as well toned as it needs to be for running. It's evident I tend to skip training with Zeke sometimes. I make it to the end of the parking lot, looking around as to where I go next.

Fortunately I see the Z4 at a nearby coffee shop. I'm gonna kill Zeke for making me think he left me. It's not difficult to come to the conclusion that he's pranked me yet again. I stop in my tracks. How was I going to get back at him?
